I'm actually one of the few U.S based soccer fans that follows MLS much more closely than the European Leagues, so I thought it was the right time to start a new thread for this 16 year old league. I know some of our European based CF posters have asked about MLS, so that was further incentive to start this thread. As is usual, quite a few MLS teams that are being run on a "shoe-string budget" by some very rich men have loaded their rosters with no-name, lower-salary, over-hyped players from South American (mostly Columbia) and African nations, while mixing in a few African and Mexican Americans. These teams include Dallas, Toronto, Philadelphia, Salt Lake, Colorado and Chicago. Needless to say, I don't look forward to watching these teams, unless they are playing a more white friendly opponent.

But a healthy number of MLS teams do seem to be fairly white friendly this season: LA Galaxy, Houston Dynamo, New York Red Bulls and Vancouver Whitecaps stand out the most. The Galaxy and Red Bulls are the most exciting to watch, because their owners are actually willing to spend money to attrack some of the bigger names players around the globe, even though most are over 30. Word around the soccer world is guys like Frank Lampard, Michael Ballack, Ivica Olic and Stephen Ireland (only 26 and reportedy NY has #10 ready for him) could be on their way to MLS this summer.

The Galaxy won the MLS Cup in 2011, with Robbie Keane, David Beckham and Landon Donovan leading the way. They also feature other whites that might never be international stars, but are skilled and very good for MLS: Mike Magee, Chad Barrett, Todd Dunivant and Pat Noonan. On many nights the Galaxy start 7 to 9 whites, which is impressive for a team from Los Angeles. I was happy to see they recently added a talented guy from Brazil named Marcelo Fazzio Sarvas, who upon closer inspection seems to 100% European (Italian?). In addition, this team has several elite youngsters in the fold, including potential USMNT prodigy Jack McBean, who made his MLS debut last fall at 16. Michael Stephens, Tommy Meyer and Dan Keat (New Zealand) are all in their early 20's and should have bright futures in soccer.

Here's a link with a video from LA's most recent win, which was totally dominated by Irish striker Robbie Keane:

thanks, i was one the posters asking for updates about the MLS, as i thought that LA galaxy who won last year was pretty white, and the key players were white
great to see beckham has still an incredible right foot
for me he is the best free kick taker in history, with a perfect technique:

he really has something special

i remember being very impressed by his two perfect crosses in the same match during the 2000 euro champs, against portugal
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLluusBo7hM (the 2 first goals)

and after all, it's an american forum
i like how they play in MLS, it's very different from the english premier league surprisingly,to me it looks like french ligue 1

and yes, sarvas is the typical white guy from sao paulo, a little bit more tanned than the white guy from rio grande do sul
his paternal name, sarvas, sounds eastern european, maybe greek
and his maternal name, fazzio, sounds italian

I wouldn't say the South American players are over hyped. If anything, they're vastly underrated and MLS teams get a good bargain. Some of the Argentine, Colombian, and Uruguayan players in the league are excellent and have made a good impact - Javier Morales and Emiliano Bonfigli on Salt Lake, Mauro Rosales and Alvaro Fernandez on Seattle, Juan Pablo Angel on Chivas, and Paolo Cardozo on the Galaxy.

The one thing that does annoy me is how MLS tries to sign players from lousy CONCACAF countries like Haiti, Jamaica, Honduras, El Salvador, just because they're close by and because one or two of them performed well in the Gold Cup. These guys wouldn't be signed anywhere else in the world so why does MLS sign them? It's almost like a charity where MLS feels sorry for its lousy neighbors.

I also agree with you on MLS signing more African player. That's a disturbing trend because it shows the league wants to place more of an emphasis on speed and strength instead of skill. I laugh every time I see a guy like Maucouma Kandji. He is the biggest, goofiest African I've ever seen. And the Portland Timbers have the funniest looking team I've seen - like they just unloaded a slave ship. Looks like they wont' be making the playoffs again this year :)

he looks incredibly white for a costarican
i don't know much about their country, but i saw their team play on a few occasions, and they had no whites
the only white i know from costa rica is rolando fonseca, and he is the all-time top scorer for the national team

Yes, Fredric 38. That was my reason for posting it. It was quite surprising. I figured the "whitest" looking a Costa Rican footballer would be is like Cristiano Ronaldo. This kid Vargas looks like he's from Sweden or Germany. Hope he does well in MLS and stays in this country for a while. I'll be following him closely going forward.

***

By the way F38, one of the best recent stories in MLS has been that of Frenchman Sébastien Le Toux. He's a guy that wasted away in the lower divisions of U.S. soccer for few years, before finally get a chance with the expansion (new team) Seattle Sounders in 2009. He had a good year in Seattle, but it wasn't enough -- he was let go to the Philadelphia Union in 2010, another first year expansion team...He exploded in 2010 and 2011, having great years, but it wasn't enough, as Philly's Polish born & raised coach Peter Nowak traded him to the Vancouver Whitecaps two months ago for nothing. Basically Novak let the teams best and most popular player go so he could sign a couple of black strikers. So far, LeToux's been great for Vancouver.

Le Toux, who was born in 1984, has been so impressive in MLS, that he recently received a trial with Bolton of the Premiere League. I bring him up, because he's actually openly said he'd love to get a chance to play with the French National team. He also became a U.S. citizen last year and said if France doesn't want him (which they don't because he's white?), he'd love to play for the U.S. They won't give him a trial either.

Honestly, I'm not sure if he's good enough to play for France (haven't seen France enough), but he should definitely play for Team USA. He's so much better than teenager Juan Agudelo and Jozy Altidore, it's not even close

Was just checking the MLS scores at ESPN.com and saw a name I did not recognize today: Olman Vargas, who scored a goal for the Columbus Crew today.

Anyway, when I see these names I don't know I usually do a Net search to see where they are from, what they look like, ect. When Vargas' name came up being from Costa Rica I figured he was likely black, perhaps Mexican looking. I've always known Costa Rica had some whites, but I didn't expect Vargas to look like this. Needless to say, this is a guy I will be rooting for, going forward in MLS. Columbus has been a fairly white friendly team in recent years. Hopefully it's still that way, even though they lost their top player (Robbie Rogers) to Leeds United before the season started.

well, i doesn't show in their national team :icon_confused:
it's true that in central america islands they have very few natives (from what i understand), so their inhabitants are either black or white, there are no mestizos like in bolivia or peru

as for le toux, i heard about him espacially after the horrible 2010 world cup (horrible for the french national team), there was some talk about him being called
but it would be nearly impossible to play in the national team while being unknown in the country
it's interestingto note that the only player recently who has been forced to play in a foreign league because nobody wanted him in ligue 1 is white
the same almost happened to olivier giroud, who is now the best french striker (his coach in my city, grenoble, said that he was not good enough for ligue 2 (second division) )

a similar story also, by this other french white who was forced to go to bielorussia becausse nobody wanted him in france: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aurélien_Montaroup

Toronto FC are off to the worst start in the history of the MLS.

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/dc-united-drops-toronto-record-001605262--mls.html

I guess bringing in Aron Winter as manager wasn't such a masterstroke. Judging by the clip I saw of them online they are over 50% black. Mind you I've hardly watched any MLS so I don't know if they are darker than most other teams. Anyone have a racial breakdown for the MLS? I'm always hearing racial stats for baseball and nationality stats for hockey and basketball so surely there is similar MLS info out there.

I got this chart from that diversity wacko at UCF. At least he's good for something. It shows the breakdown from 2010 (couldn't find anything more recent) to 1998 (the leagues inception).

If anyone has trouble zooming on the image, 2010 is as follows:
White 54%
Black 26%
"Latin" 17%
Asian 1%
Other 2%

So MLS is the second most white "major" league after the NHL.

Toronto FC skews much more black than the MLS average.

blacks are way over-represented
there are more blacks than latinos while in the US i thought that latinos outnumbered blacks
and afro-americans are much less involved in soccer than the mexican inmigrants according to the US soccer federation president (that indian guy)

the blacks could be foreigners, from africa for example, but even then south american players are way better than
african players so it makes no sense to buy african players
except if you believe that blacks are genetically superior to anybody else in sports

A quick glance at Toronto's roster shows they have 2 Jamaicans, a Bermudian, American blacks and a bunch of "Canadian" negros. Their team is a joke a deserve to be in the gutter.

frederic, I agree that blacks are away overrepresented and hispanics probably underrepresented. I'm not sure if the 17% that is "latin" reflects race at all. If it doesn't, the White percent is higher as there are some Argentinians and other South American Whites (Angel from Columbia comes to mind). However, 26% black seems too high if it doesn't count the black "latino" players.

This is way blacker that in previous seasons when Whites were usually over 60% and Blacks under 20%. Not sure if this is a trend or a casual dip in number of Whites.

My son is playing and this gives me the opportunity to observe the racial composition of kids playing soccer here in California. In the 14-16 age group I would say Whites are close to 80% or more. Mexicans are about 15% (mostly on "soccer scholarships", as they love Whitey's freebies). Asians close to 5%, Blacks are rare in this area, less than 1%. Having this in mind, even if Cali may not be representative of the US as a whole, the percentages above are astonishing and absolutely do not represent the realities you see in the youth squads. Obviously, someone is pushing for all these Blacks in the MLS (and in the US team). In this area the sport is growing very rapidly and is definitely not a "kid's sport" anymore.

Earlier I mentioned that Toronto FC is off to the worst start in MLS history with 8 losses, no wins or draws. (Now they are down to 9 losses, no wins or draws). After doing a search on them I discovered that the team is in part the result of a restructuring done in consultation with...Juergen Klinsmann. Yep, the guy who is leading the US national team in the wrong direction was hired at the end of the 2010 season by Toronto FC as consultant to sort out the mess the team was in. Here is the record-breaking losing squad:

good stuff! :first:
it looks like they already beat the american record
the world record for the biggest number of defeats in a row from the start of a league championship is 14 defeats, it was set by an asian team

manchester united has the european record with 12 defeats in a row in the 30's
i know this because my local team (grenoble foot 38, the team that said publicly that olivier giroud was not good enough for french second division, just 3 years before he became the first division top scorer) went for the record 3 years ago
they got 11 defeats in a row , 0 points after 11 matches
they were awfully black too
i remember going to the stadium (they offered free tickets in super markets ) and seeing the suporters mocking the team

this match for example (check out the explosion at the 20 seconds mark):

there was 3-0 after 10 minutes, and first goal after 21 seconds :http://youtu.be/hmquF2-pNDU
ah, good memories :icon_cool:
now the club plays in 5th division, just 3 years after playing in first division (for both sports and economic reasons)

anyway, klinsman's fascination for black players is being exposed

As a contrast, here is a photo of the 1st place in the Eastern Conference (2nd in all of MLS) Red Bulls' starters. Note, Henry is not playing this game but this is generally the number of Whites they start.

In my world
So MLS is the second most white "major" league after the NHL.

I admit that I do not have a great knowledge when it comes to American reality, but the way I see things and from my point of view (which is optimistic most of the times) I believe that after the NHL the most white "major" league would have to be NLL and MLB. NLL is a league they show from time to time in Eurosport and Nova Sports and judging from some salaries I have seen, some of our guys there are millionaires with very high paid contracts. If a sport can make you a millionaire, that's major to me.
Also I thought MLB was like 65% white, almost 75% white if we would include white Hispanics, am I right?

Beach volleyball is a very popular sport in certain American States if I am not mistaken and a very popular Olympic sport worldwide and heavily white dominated.

From my point of view, if one excludes the disgusting NBA, most of the low paid positions in the NFL ( IMO if you are not a QB then you ain't s h i t in this sport, I could be 100% wrong though) and American boxing (boxing worldwide is mostly white dominated from middleweight up to Heavyweight as well), the rest is a proof of our white excellence and dominance in the US as well.

In my mind, even in a nation like the US, where the anti-white laws, the anti-white agenda, the Jewish propaganda blah blah has reached extremely high levels, I still see my white brothers dominate most major sports (NHL, MLS, MLB, NLL, Nascar, UFC, Horse racing, Tennis, Golf, WWE- staged or not, it's a high paid POPULAR sport), pretty much every extreme sport, especially the fast growing and popular among youngsters such as BMX, Skate, Surfing and Snowboard and win over 75% of medals in Summer Olympics and over 95% of them in Winter Olympics for Team USA.

All I am trying to say is, no matter how hard they try to put us down, they just can't.

Whites do it better, fact!

PS
In a league (NFL) that Negroes are supposed to make 65-70% of some of the lowest paid positions that whites don't care for anymore(personal opinion) the vast majority of the MVP award winners in the regular season and Super Bowl, the biggest selling Jerseys, the most prestigious position aka QB and the highest paid contracts are mostly owned or belong to whites........ Does that speak volumes or something?

It's funny you mention this because the 2nd and 3rd worst teams in MLS are the Portland Timbers and Philadelphia Union, respectively. And not surprising, here are the starting XI's for both teams.

Conversely, here are the starting lineups for the 2nd and 3rd best teams in MLS - Real Salt Lake and San Jose.

Ironically, both teams had more success last season but inexplicably traded their star White strikers.

Portland traded Kenny Cooper to the New York Red Bulls who now has 11 goals on the season. He is tied for the MLS lead with Chris Wondolowski, the man carrying San Jose to success and one of their only "bright" spots. Portland received a 2013 1st round pick for Cooper.

The Philadelphia Union's star player was Sébastien Le Toux, who had 25 goals in his 2 seasons with the club. So what does Philly do? Trade their best player to Vancouver for allocation money!! At least Portland got a first rounder for their bad trade. Not to worry DWFs of Filthadelphia, Freddy Adu will save you.

Beckham gets suspended:

Maybe he's releasing some anger after not getting chosen for the UK Olympic team.

Notice how the "injured" player jumps to his feet when Beckham hits him with the ball.

First XI for this month's All-Star game in Philadelphia (MLS Stars vs. Chelsea) have been announced and it's mostly whites, which is good to see, particularly with all the wildly over-hyped Africans the league has imported and goes out their way to promote via the media (check the Nike ads):

ASG%20FXI.jpg

Only 3 Non white starters are: Steven Beitashour; Dwayne De Rosario and Thierry Henry.

Some might deem Beitashour white, but he's Iranian-American. De Rosario's parents, I believe, are from Africa, but he's clearly not black....or white. Not sure what his deal is, but he's had a great season for D.C. United and deserved to make the first XI....Henry's had a good season, also, but his own Red Bulls teammate (Kenny Cooper) has scored more goals and been more durable.

Considering the starting XI is so white, it will be interesting to see who the league's resident cultural Marxist Sunil Gulati picks as reserves to fill out the roster? No doubt he'll select several overrated louts (i.e Darlington Nagbe) in hopes of making the team more "diverse"?

That said, most of the top forwards in MLS that did not make the First XI are white: Kenny Cooper, Robbie Keane, Chris Pontius, Will Bruin, Danny Koevermans, ect. Brek Shea, Davide Chiumiento, Kyle Beckerman and Brad Davis are talented, white midfielders worthy of making the squad and playing in this friendly as reserves.
