Lutter vs Silva

Silva is indeed refreshing because it has been so tiresome over the decades having to put up with loudmouth black fighters. He's not an American black, so that has a lot to do with it.

I have to agree that a good grappler is going to take him out, and I am one who wouldn't be surprised to see Franklin adjust his game and beat Silva in a rematch. One article I read stated Franklin's problem was not knowing how to fight out of the clinch, and the writer thought that if Franklin would learn he'd probably beat Silva. Silva is a good stand up fighter, but no better than some other guys out there - although they're not necessarily in the UFC.

Rampage has not improved in years. Chuck has. Let them fight now. I almost have to wonder if they're waiting for Chuck to get old(er) before fighting Rampage or another of their black hopes in the wings.

A few of my friends who follow MMA have said the same thing about Franklin, Callan; that he will beat Silva in a rematch. Rich is a great student of the game and should come back better prepared to handle Silva's Thai clinch next time, and take him to the ground.

As for Silva's attitude.. I'm beginning to wonder if it's simply his lack of English speaking skills that make him appear a decent fellow, rather than anything inherent in his character. He showed no mercy to Lutter during the pre-fight interviews, and showed a little TNB in the cage after the fight. But we'll see. He looks to be around for awhile, no matter what happens in the next few fights.

Good call on Franklin's studious approach to MMA. I'll be definitely be pulling for Ace in a rematch, assuming Silva hangs onto the strap long enough.

White Shogun, I wondered about that in regards to Silva, but I don't put too much into the hype in some interviews, as the promoters etc do ask the fighters to make it colorful. After a guy wins, they can act nutty. Yeah, maybe a bit of TNB from Silva after the fight. I prefer to watch Chuck to a semi-Tarzan routine after he wins over a darker fella

I would like to see Silva matched up with Ivan Salaverry or Nate Marquart. I think either of those matches would be interesting and very competitive, especially Salaverry.

You know, you make some good points, Callan.

I'd say Silva's TNB is less-TNB than Liddell's arms-akimbo running around the ring antics, LOL.

And you are spot on about the promoters trying to entice the fighters to say controversial things to hype the fight.

I therefore officially agree with you regarding Silva.

Shogun, spreading your arms in victory and roaring is one thing, shaking your hips like a hoochy-coochy dancer is quite another

That's right! I forgot about Silva's 'dance' routine that he does after a fight. I was referring only to his holding the belt and yelling at the crowd. But yeah, Silva's victory antics certainly have a 'post-touchdown' like celebration quality to them, don't they?

Interview with Travis Lutter on NBC.com. He talks about why he failed to make weight and why he tapped.

Good interview. I have competed in a half dozen or so, submission tournaments, generally at my walking weight, but the times I cut 10-12 lbs it physically drained me. Of course we weighed in just an hour or so prior to the tournament.
