Called up from D League to Heat.
 
Good for Luke Jackson. He reminds me of a more athletic Jason Kapono and Kapono had a nice run with the Heat last year. He now starts for the Raptors. Here's hoping Luke stays injury free.
 
I don't think he can play at the NBA level. He got 3 years of chances with a bad Cavaliers team.

Maybe the second time around he will be better. If he can't make it on a bad Heat team though he is not good enough for the NBA.
 
I don't know how much of a chance he had with the Cavs with his injury problems and the fact that a white player always carries a extra burden anyway to prove himself. For instance, there's no reason now that he is healthy, that ex WVU star Mike Gansey is not in the NBA. For a league that desparately needs high percentage shooters, it's amazing to me that a Jeff Hornacek clone like Gansey is not in the NBA.
 
He was hurt when he was in Cleveland, and Mike Brown's racist ass wouldn't let him play even when he was healthy, even while giving time to career sucks such as Ira Newble and amon ones. I think he could be a decent player in Miami, he was a 10th overall pick after all.
 
Mike Brown is such a racist that he has 2, sometimes 3 white guys at a time on the floor.
 
He has no problem starting a Euro, but when it comes to an American White boy it doesn't happen. You should have heard him talk about Luke Jackson when he was still in Cleveland. Maybe he just disliked Jackson, but he sure sounded like a racist when he talked about him.
 
Mike Brown may or may not be a racist but he is not very good at picking and choosing players on his roster. Damon Jones and Ira Newble should be toiling in the CBA somewhere. I predict after this bumping incident with Lebron in yesterdays humiliating rout by the Knicks(Lee 22 points 11 rebounds) that Coach Brown will be fired before seasons end unless there is a dramatic turnaround by the Cavs.
 
The manager picks the players, not the coach.

Maybe you guys should learn about basketball before posting again.

I know very well the role a General Manager plays in signing players to the roster but it is largely up to the coach about who makes the team and who doesn't. Of course any 1st round draft pick and any major free agent signing will make the team no matter how the coach feels but usually the coach has a major say in who fills out the last three or four spots on any NBA roster and who gets playing time and whose talent gets wasted sitting on the bench, usually a white player.

Maybe you should post here with a little more civility and respect for people who have been here much longer than you.
 
The Heat play Williams and Quinn on a regular basis.

Can't wait to hear the next excuse for Jackson.

As far as Luke Jackson; I think if he gets playing time this time around he could make it as a good role player for the Heat. The guy has talent and is a good athlete, but has dealt with injury problems his entire short NBA career. The caste system is weaker in the NBA, so Luke may very well get the chance he deserves for playing time on the struggling Heat, I predict he seizes this opportunity and proves he belongs in the league!

Luke got some high praise for his performance in the summer league, half way down the page, on

"Among those without a contract for next season, former lottery pick Luke Jackson stood out as legit NBA talent who deserves a deal somewhere in the league.

Jackson averaged 11.2 points and shot 11-for-26 from 3-point range in six Revue games for Atlanta. Beyond the numbers, though, his game clearly was head-and-shoulders above the mass of hopefuls.

It's enough to make one wonder just how good he'd be by now if a back injury hadn't derailed his career after Cleveland took him 10th overall out of the University of Oregon in 2004.

Jackson has bounced around on 10-day contracts and shorts stints with three teams since leaving the Cavaliers in 2006, including last season with Miami. After a solid summer, though, he should find security somewhere. Besides the Hawks, both Memphis and Dallas apparently have interest. "

I think either Dallas or Memphis would be great places for him. Hopefully we will hear more from Luke in the NBA.
 
I would love to see Luke Jackson play for the Mavericks. It would at least give Dirk another white face to look at in a locker room full of black faces. He must so miss Steve Nash. Luke has always had wonderful athletic ability, he just needs to stay injury free and produce when he gets a chance.
 
Jackson could work his way up to a scoring spark off the bench for the Mavericks this year and eventually a starting spot. Jackson is a great shooter and can play the role of hybrid SG-SF. Jackson can pass shoot and is quick off the dribble from when I watched him in college, he needs to improve his D a bit though. Reminds a bit of Wally World.
 
Comparing Luke Jackson to Wally World is a decent comparision but Wally never quite had Luke's athleticism. But in other parts of their game,the comparison is easy to make.
 
I actually thought Wally was much more athletic. He looked like the best player in the country when he was at Miami of Ohio. He let Garnett bully him in Minnesota and shake his confidence. He still played great without taking as many shots as he should have for years. He might still be shooting close to 50% for his career. His foot speed seemed way down this past season. He's probably past his prime unfortunately.
 
Wally in his younger days was certainly more athletic than given credit for but Luke graded out extremely well athletically at the combine the rookies go to before the draft.
