Lou Reed, a high-profile Jewish rock star, died during the weekend of complications from a liver transplant.

Reed's best-known song was Walk on the Wild Side about the lives of five of Reed's and Andy Warhol's gay/bisexual/transgendered associates.

In the 1980's, the bisexual Reed had been in a long-term relationship with a male-to-female transsexual.

In the 1950s as a teenager, Lou Reed was given electric shock treatment by a psychiatrist in an attempt to "cure" his sexuality.

I'm surprised that Jewish parents would permit a psychiatrist to do that to their son, but it was a very different society in the 1950s.

I was initially taken aback to see a prominent front page article in today's multi-culti fishwrap on Reed's death, which then continued by taking up about half of Page 4, but on second thought I shouldn't have. Reed was an extreme left wing sexual deviant and subversive, one who pursued his mission in the "entertainment" wing of the Permanent Revolution that was launched, mostly by his fellow tribesmen, in the late 1960s. Reed's peers are now the old men and women of the totalitarian-oriented establishment, so his legacy occupies a place of importance among them in their successful takeover of the U.S.

Weirdo, queer, druggie, leftist. Wrote a few good songs that were far better when others performed them. I'm shocked he lived to 71.

This is why he's "famous". And he happens to be jewish. I'm no expert on punk rock but Yahoo credited him as "the father of punk rock." Has to be an insult to someone!

As you always astutely point out, up is down, and in is out, in the bizarro society we live in. Reed represents everything that a few generations ago would be considered bad, evil, stupid, sinful, and wrong. But today? He's some kind of a hero.

I read one of the articles about him and his life reads like a "how-to" book on what to avoid in your life. Bi-sexual, promiscuous, a heroin addict, alcoholic. Good lord! Do people even realize what they are doing to future generations by venerating this kind of life style?

It seems his main claim to fame was being a voice for people whose life was messed up by lifestyle choices. Isn't the lesson learned from that: to avoid those choices, not romanticize them? I've always felt the perverted lifestyle that jews push on society is done with the intent to convince people to self-destroy themselves. Mission Accomplished!!

Reed's music also sucked. He never made anything that was very good, certainly not popular. He was a musician that was promoted because he was a pervert more then an "artist".

It amazes me that he lived to 71 but modern medicine can do some amazing things. Note that the wasted liver he received at his advanced age, an organ he abused so much in his life, will be something that is not going to be available to the 70+ year old people in the near future. His tribes goals to transfer health care from the older White middle class to the younger brown parasites of our society will ensure that govt. panels made up of wise latina's and angry blacks are going to see that amount of the peoples money is not wasted in the future on old whites (and jews seen as white.)

I'm not sure "the father of punk" is really appropriate. Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground might have had a bit to do with the advent of punk rock, in that they were not hippies, and were willing to experiment with new sounds, but it was more like they were around at the same time punk started. There were certainly a number of Jews (2/4 of The Ramones, for instance) involved in the rise of punk, it being initially a New York phenomenon in the U.S.

Sicko he may be but I always loved the song Perfect Day.

Me too. It's a great song. When I was in a four man room in the army one of the other guys had a couple Lew Reed albums he played a lot. Reed did have a gift for making music IMO. But his habit of throwing in jarring references to ugly distasteful things right in the middle of a nice sounding song kept me from being a fan. For instance his song "Satellite of Love" had a very nice tune, then he has to toss in something about "Harry Mark and John" or something like that. I don't know if that's because he was a Jew or because he was just Lew Reed. One of his Velvet Underground bandmates said something to the effect of he wondered how could such a bad human be given that much talent. Evidently Reed was a real piece of work to deal with.

I don't know. I think he made some interesting music but he never was any sort of hero to me that's for sure. As my politics have moved to the right over the years at least some of my taste in music has stayed on the left (aside from groups like Landser and Stahlgewitter).

So like it or not, Lou Reed (and the Velvet Underground) were very influential. As was OD'd hedonist Jim Morrison, sicko peeping Tom Chuck Berry, androgynous David Bowie, and so on. All of whom have made music I enjoy.

Maybe this is one confused post, but music is one thing I refuse to have a limited outlook on.

Yeah so what if he had an influence of rock of some genre. One so called hit record. The lib music media is droning on how this gay dude was the death of a very poor man's David Bowie(who is another closet homo, with encounters with Reed and Mick!). Big deal. He is significant as a Poison hit back in the early 90s even less so. F him.

I would have more respect for him and Bowie if they admitted their homosexuality. But no. Just the friggen rumors.

Hook up with Uncle Ted Kennedy in hell and abuse each other without KY. I am sure uncle Ted is still worn out from uncle scratch. LOL

What would be a downer is that the surviving members of a true punk god band such as the "Clash" pays homage to this miscreant. I cross my fingers and hope this does not happen.

That's the type of garbage that the sheepletainment industry loves to laud & exalt. This mug was a forerunner to the vile, deviant vermin that're being prop'd up today (Lady Kahkah, Miley Virus, etc.). They're all trash.

Why was Lou Reed important? Because he was the avant garde of pop music as far back as the mid-1960s. He pioneered the styles that became dominant in the 1970s. He was among the most effective agents of cultural Marxism because he plied his trade in the popular arts.

And that's why I made this thread.

Although a mediocre "one hit wonder" musician, Reed along with Bob Dylan and others had a significant negative effect on young people in the 1960s and 1970s. His message was: "hey kids, take a walk on the wild side: try heroin, methamphetamine and homosexual sex".

Reed was one of the 'Pied Pipers' who had a negative influence on many of my generation.

Lou Reed was a great supporter of Isreal. I am not sure isreal wanted his support. The ony song of his I have ever heard was "Walk on the wild side." If that is his best, I do not want to hear the rest.

I'll give him a few good songs like Pale Blue Eyes, There She Goes Again, and Sweet Jane (frankly, about one per album in his earlier years), but he was an utter degenerate as a person. A fair number of artists are. I think the takeaway is that his degenerate lifestyle is one of the main reasons the Marxist media found him interesting, not so much for his music. Had he been straight, gentile, and far more moderate in his drug use, they wouldn't have found him all that intriguing.

Here is the confused mind of a progressive at work. This is the opening of Lou Reed's obit article in the *** rag The Advocate:

"While some commentators are describing Lou Reed, the legendary singer-songwriter who died Sunday, as the first openly bisexual rock star, Reed was often evasive about his sexual orientation ..."

Well, if he was "evasive" about his sexuality, how could he be "openly" bisexual?

I think what they don't like about Reed's "sexuality" is that it was so malleable. When the AIDS epidemic hit in the 80's Reed went full on hetero. I think he was married until he died and he did have relationships with some well known women in his life. That is something the "born that way" crowd doesn't like. They don't mind so much that womym (like Ann Heche) flip flop around but when a man does it then the arguement that it is a choice comes into play. Doesn't fit the agenda.

In the mid-to-late 1970s he was in a relationship with a male-to-female transsexual, Rachel, mentioned in the dedication of "Coney Island Baby" and appearing in the photos on the cover of Reed's 1977 "best of" album, Walk on the Wild Side: The Best of Lou Reed.

I can't imagine a heterosexual man getting being in a relationship with a tranny.

Was the person post op or pre op? In other words if "they" had a surgically made vagina then it would sorta be like being with a women. If not then no. At about that point in time he switched to v's over d's, so at any rate he must have liked the ladies somewhat.
