the group phase has started
i created this thread to stop hijacking the "brazilian desease" thread

i will follow mainly internacional because dagoberto play for them
they play in a few hours against a peruvian club (juan aurich)
dagoberto is likely to start the match

in their group, they will face a bolivian club (the strongest) and the most interesting match, against santos, where neymar plays
i hope dagoberto will out class neymar

juan aurich has a white peruvian goalkeeper, diego penny
diego-penny-tras-ser-campeon.jpg

he is a peruvian international, and is the main star of the team

internacional will most likely start the match with a white goal keeper of german descent, muriel gustavo becker (their 4 goal keepers are whites) , hopefully bolatti the argentine, indio, oscar, d'alessandro the argentine, and dagoberto, the star

the rest of the team goes from black to mestizo, including leandro damiao, who is suposed to be a very promising player

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

edit: inter won 2-0
both goals were scored by white players
on the first goal, d'alessandro the argentine did a great pass to oscar
all the white players i mentionned played

the highlights from inter's official website if you are interested:

just a post to say how juan aurich the peruvian club qualified for this libertadores
they won the peruvian "league" (torneo descentralizado) with a victory in play-off against alianza lima

they won the match thanks to diego penny, because he managed to stop every shoot during the match, then he stoped 2 penalty kicks during the penalty shootout

footage of the match:

so he should be the number 1 goal keeper for peru now

since it's raining racism accusations in europe, here is one from peru
diego penny was said to have worn a tee shirt with a monkey on it under his jersey, to make fun of allianza lima players
but actually, it was a photo of his son or daughter, who is not born yet

I have always found the matches involving Bolivian sides like Real Potosi to be quite fascinating…it’s interesting how important home-field advantage could be (especially at an altitude of over 3960 m) in the case of South American teams. Flamengo footballers even had to use oxygen masks on a number of occasions due to the thin air.

“In a historic match, Bolivia’s Real Potosi soccer team has defeated one of the world’s best clubs, Flamengo from Brazil in the Copa Libertadores.”

http://www.boliviaweekly.com/real-potosi-beats-brazils-flamengo-with-ronaldinho-2-1/2718/

I like Blatter because he supported the Bolivians and refused to bow down to those who want to enforce uniformity when it comes to football venues/stadiums.

Good to see that players like Dagoberto and Penny are likely to be quite influential in this year's tournament. The controversial T-shirt story cracks me up! Penny is really an impressive shot-stopper.

yes, also another important part of the advantage they get from playing in their home country is the public, and the more friendly refereeing

i hate tha fact that the champions league final is played in a neutral environment instead of an away and at home match ,like all the matches before the final
usually the final is less interesting than the semi finals

an example of libertadores final, in 2008: quito (ecuador) vs fluminense (brazil)

this first match was played in quito, in altitude, and the ecuadorian team won

the second match was played in rio, maracana
the most incredible atmosphere i ever saw:

fluminense won, but on agregate the result was 5-5, so they had to go to the penalty shootout

the pressure was so high....i never saw anything close to this:

look at the hostile atmosphere when players from ecuador go to shoot
pato urrutia, the white ecuadorian of basque origin, one of the best penalty kick takers of south america, gave the victory to his team, by scoring the first and most important penalty kick (because when you miss the first penalty kick usually you lose, so the best shooter of the team takes the first penalty kick)

flamengo, ronaldinho's current club, is most likely out of libertadores after a defeat 3-2 against emelec of ecuador

2 of the 3 goals scored by emelec were scored by argentinian striker lucho figueroa who played in italy and villareal:

black brazilian wagner love was racially abused by ecuadorian suporters (the match was played in ecuador) with monkey-like "noises" (don't know how to say)

yes, also another important part of the advantage they get from playing in their home country is the public, and the more friendly refereeing

Indeed, I recall a 1998 World Cup qualifier between Bolivia and Colombia that was played in La Paz. Erwin Sanchez (nicknamed the Bolivian Platini) headbutted the referee and was sent off. However, shortly after that a Colombian player was also red carded for an innocuous faul (the referee felt rather uneasy and made sure that the guests' numerical superiority did not last for long).

Thanks for posting these clips, fantastic atmosphere (almost as if one is in a boiling cauldron)!

In a sense that's quite surprising given the preponderance of Afro-Ecuadorians in their national side:

South American players are very temperamental Icon Lol:

Lucho Figueroa seems like a capable player, I like his goalscoring technique. He is very tricky and quick-footed.

oh yes, platini sanchez, with baldivieso and "el diablo" etcheverry
you don't get such talented players every year
he was called "platini" and i recall french commentators during a champions league match (when he played for boavista) who didn't understand why he was called "platini" because he was more violent and he looked less "classy"
he had an incredible shot
he almost won the copa america 1997, with baldivieso and etcheverry, losing only to brazil in the final match

regarding ecuador, i never understood why they have so many blacks
i know some ecuadorians and they look like christian noboa

but most (all?) of their best players in recent history were whites
see the first thread that i created when i registered on this forum: http://www.castefootball.us/forums/threads/13427-proof-whites-are-better-in-soccer-ECUADOR

Bolivia had a great generation in the mid and late 1990s...they were one of my favourite national sides from South America at the time (I guess there was a certain mystique about them, as they were a small country that managed to hold its own against the big guns and was able to punch above its weight in La Paz). I remember the match vs. Brazil in La Paz, Erwin Sanchez scored an amazing long-range goal on the stroke of half-time...all in all, the Bolivians did really well, but succumbed to a Ronaldo goal just ten minutes before extra time was to be played (and Edmundo sealed the victory in the 90th minute). Baldivieso and Etcheverry were also charismatic footballers, though they were involved in a number of controversies (i.e. El Diablo was sent off in a match against Germany just minutes after entering the fray, while El Emperador is known for being quite outspoken when it comes to referees). Goalkeeper Sergio Galarza is another Bolivian player who is relatively famous.

regarding ecuador, i never understood why they have so many blacks
i know some ecuadorians and they look like christian noboa

I would guess that soccer is more popular in provinces like Esmeraldas, where over 70% of the people are black Ecuadorians...national teams could often paint a misleading picture when it comes to gaining an understanding of the demographics of certain countries.

Thanks for the link, footballers like Kaviedes and Aguinaga deserve recognition, as they have scored many milestone goals for Ecuador.

in the first leg of the 8th final:

-internacional did a disappointing draw 0-0 at home against fluminense
fluminense's goalkeeper stopped a penalty:
diegocavalieri-pho.jpg

he is diego cavalieri, and he is white of italian origin

-santos lost 2-1 in bolivia against club bolivar, in high altitude
neymar received a stone in the face:

i stopped following libertadores a little bit because internacional was WAY too black

but now it's the semi finals

->from a racial point of view our greatest hope is boca juniors, argentinian club
they have a pretty much all-white team, mainly of spanish and italian descent
they have a player of croatian descent also, Darío Cvitanich, he has croatian citizenship so if croatia wants a south american...:biggrin1:

one player have black ancestry but doesn't really look black, like always in these countries:
D_191106_F_erviti.jpg

walter erviti
i would classify him as "other"

there is also riquelme (the famous argentine international), who is not a real argentine, he is the son of paraguayan inmigrants, so he is indian

they won at home 2-0 against a chilean club in the first leg

->in the second semi final, there are santos and corinthians
both are brazilian clubs, which means that they are much blacker but very talented
both brazilian clubs have white goal keepers
santos have elano blumer

santos (neymar's club) lost 1-0 at home, so it looks like they won't play the final
let's hope that neymar fails, since pele compared him with messi :mmph:
maradona watched boca junior's match, so this looks like a maradona vs pele competition

the first part of the final has been played, corinthians and boca juniors did a draw 1-1 in argentina

246412_423863470986184_122445051_n.jpg

it was typical of the oppositions between brazilian and european teams because boca junior scored their only goal on a corner kick

logically corinthians should win as they will play the second match at home, but the argentines are very confident
they usually win when they play in brazil

boca juniors would be the perfect winner from a racial point of view for multiple reasons:

-they are a lot whiter, like i said before
-corinthians has never won the continental title, they are said to be a team that invests a lot of money to win it but they always failed
-corinthians bought an asian player to raise interest in asia, like the german clubs and some english clubs do ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/portuguese/noticias/2012/03/120316_video_chines_corinthians_pc.shtml )

the final is tomorow (04/07 at 21h50, local hour)

unfortunately corinthians won 2-0
it was predictable
well, we can't win everytime
brazilian clubs are very good (compared with other south american clubs)

the guy who scored the 2 goals is emerson "sheik", who plays internationally for qatar :icon_rolleyes:
