ESPN’s Dan Graziano reports the Chargers aren’t expected to sign a veteran wide receiver ahead of the regular season.
It looks like Ladd McConkey could avoid the late-summer Keenan Allen rug pull. It’s good news for McConkey as new Chargers OC Mike McDaniel plans to get the wideout more short-area looks in 2026 — targets Allen might have soaked up if he had returned to LA. As recently as late May, Chargers GM Joe Hortiz said he had not “closed the door” on bringing Allen back for the 2026 season. McConkey, who by many measures was unlucky in 2025, has WR1 upside in McDaniel’s offense.

do you guys remember the video clip of Luke Kuechly trying to catch CM in the game of tag in CM's rookie season? If memory serves Kuechly couldn't get a hand on CM no matter how hard he tried. This is the same type of elusiveness McConkey has, the elite ability to get open and make it very very difficult for the defender to stay with him. Herbert on many occasions last year did not look McConkeys way even though he was wide open 99% of the time, appease Allen at McConkeys and the teams expense.
