My brother brought me over Mel Kiper's 2006 Draft preview book-the one you pay $30 bucks for.
Most of it stinks of the Caste System, except maybe for the obvious positions where you have to believe your lying eyes, e.g. Linebacker he rates Hawk, Greenway at 1 and 2.
He obviously struggles at areas where you need intelligence as well as strength, like O-line.
The most glaring area where Kiper is clueless, as are most talent evaluators in the NFL is QB.
The best WINNING quarterbacks are almost always measured by leadership, intelligence (reading the game as it progresses to pivotal 4th quarter) and ability to make the right type of throw at the crucial time of the game.
Let me define the "right type of throw", a qb has to instantaneously decide where to throw with Touch, on a line or a make a different throw on the same route for a different type of receiver(based on their ability)-like a TE/RB Vs a WR.
The masters are Tom Brady and Peyton Manning right now, but Drew Brees, Trent Green and Chad Pennington(before the injury) are pretty special. There are others and they are almost always invariably white-I can't think of a Black QB who can make those adjustments on a consistent basis as defined above.
Note: Although I like Favre, I think he throws the short routes too hard, but then again I missed the 90's as I was in the UK during that time.
Back to Kiper.Kiper strikes me as a highly intelligent guy who never played a high enough level athletically to begin to understand the intricacies of what makes a great player and how that player makes his team great.
Kiper has a sickening caste system based rating system in his QB analysis.
Just a few Examples
#7 rated!!! Tavaris Jackson-Alabama State..this guy plays in a black conference where he completed 50% of his passes his first couple of years and had a decent year his senior year-60%. Division I-AA versus the most disorganized Black coached schools. I make this point because if the pass defense is clueless any average qb can pick it apart because of the poor positioning and execution.
# In fairness to Kiper, I will submit that Omar Jacobs at eight you could make an argument for that status but I wouldn't take him..Career shotgun QB with unorthodox delivery whose Black predecessor -Josh Harris-put up big numbers and has done nothing in NFL..not my cup of tea
#9 Brad Smith-Missouri..Smith was a four year starter that was pulled for a Freshman qb for his poor execution of the offense!! Poor passing numbers but he could run..Kiper states he will move to WR!!! STILL RATES HIM 9TH!
A moment of Sanity overcomes Mel at this point and he puts Drew Olson at #10 out of UCLA. Drew Olson was a four year started at UCLA and returned in 05 after ACL surgery at end of 04...here is his write up from Draft rivals..
"As a senior, he shattered the school record with 30 TD passes while leading the nation in TD passes, passing efficiency (172.47) and interception percentage (0.93). On the year, he completed 218 of 322 passes (a career-best 68 percent completion rate) for 2,909 yards ,30 TDs and three interceptions."
Ponder for a second the insanity of Tavaris Jackson from Alabama State who sucked up till his senior year at black 1-AA school Vs Drew Olson. How about Brad Smith who can't throw to save his life, was benched numerous times his senior year, and Kiper admits he will be switched to WR!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF?
Believe it or not it gets worse..
#12 Michael Robinson-Penn State--never established himself till senior year and then was atrocious at Senior Bowl and Combine..Kiper again predicts position change to WR or Safety
#13 Marcus Vick..do I even have to explain why you wouldn't want this savage leading your franchise?
#14 Reggie McNeal. loser at Texas A & M who got benched at times and Kiper also predicts a position change.
#15 Bruce Eugene -Grambling--6 Feet tall and a conservative 265 lb lard***..See Tavaris Jackson
#16 DJ Shockley-Georgia..1 year starter who had decent year and flopped at Senior bowl and Combine with Accuracy..Kiper predicts position change again!
#21 Darrell Hackney-UAB..even mel admits that the 5'11'' joker slipped in his eyes
from 4th to free agent at the Senior bowl due to erratic arm..the only black QB he didn't rate in write up section was #23 Barrick Nealy from Texas State!!!
Mel, that was a disgraceful promotion of the anti-white Caste Football system.
Let me straighten you out on the guys that you unceremoniously didn't write up and placed at the bottom in "no chance" category.
1) #25! Justin Holland -Colorado State..one of the few qb's ever to throw for 5000 yds in HS..Had a great career at Colorado State(where dem white folks get ta play) 2 weeks ago at his pro day impressed scouts by having displayed outstanding accuracy and arm strength. Holland wowed the scouts by throwing from his 20 yard line into the end zone hitting receiver in the chest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2) #33 Josh Betts -Miami(ohio) brilliant, athletic qb who had a solid junior and senior years with a complement of stone hands Black receivers.
3) #30 Dustin Almond--Southern Mississippi..for those that like Brett Favre this guy is out of the same mold..had an outstanding career at USM and I discovered him his Junior year when he made Aaron Rodgers look like a HS qb in a near upset of U Cal on last regular season game..If Jay Cutler has a cannon for an arm Almond has a ROCKET!!
Above all those Black QB's mentioned(except arguable Jacobs and Young) I would put #38 Corey Bramlet(Wyoming at 6'4 217 running 4.7 with the stats to back it up) and #47 Joel Klatt(Colorado), #43 Tye Gunn(TCU- 6'3 220 who led Team to 11-1 last year with big arm/intangibles)
The bottom line here is Kiper doesn't understand the QB position at all and actively pushed Black QB's whose predecessors have had zero success at NFL level in terms of winning percentage, championships or success rate to warrant such lofty QB draft ratings.
Year in and year out without fail , the low round white quarterbacks(Delhomme((undrafted)), Brady((6th Round and 3 super bowl wins)), Hasselback((6th round)),Kyle Orton((4th round 10-3 starter! as a rookie)) led their teams to Super Bowls and Winning records..
Wake up Mel and do some research into the QB position before you try and get guys from Alabama State into the first round.
