Didn't some white cop from Boston already beat up Slice in a garage match or something? I remember a video of Slice (I think) getting choked out by a white guy. All the blacks would then break up the fight and start it over. The white would then take him down and get him in another choke hold.

Sean Gannon, a stereotypically slow and plodding big white guy beat the sh*t out of this legend. Kimbo's crew get all aggravated, but the fact remains that Kimbo went for a take down first. This fight kind of sucks but it's interesting to see the first of surely many of Kimbo's losses to come.

Wow was Sean's face messed up though at the end eh? too bad Kimbo left the world of bare knuckles and "30/40 seco-hell give him a few minutes to get back up" fighting behind.Edited by: nopictures

Looks like Tank & Kimbo finally square off this Saturday night at EliteXC: Street Certified in Miami. It appears Kimbo is the favored fighter, but I'm hoping Tank catches him on the button early. Any final predictions?

at the undercard of this fight one interesting fighter I am looking at is a fighter named Dave "Pee-Wee" Herman. Herman is 6'5 250 and is just 23 years old. Herman is 9-0 and he has won all of his fights by ko or submision. He will have to face a tough fighter in Mario Rinaldi. But even if he doesn't win I still see him having a bright future in mma.

Kimbo will take him down, hit him a few times in the face, and the ref will step in and stop the fight.

Kimbo by ref stoppage 1:32 first round.

Herman might have a better shot at victory against "African-American" fighter Mario Rinaldi than expected. Rinaldi was exposed against a quality fighter in Roy "Big Country" Nelson & a powerhouse in Ron "H2O" Waterman.

On Sherdog at this very moment there no less than 10, count them, 10 pictures of Kimbo Slice on the frontpage of the site. It is one of the most insulting instances of racial propaganda I've ever seen on a sports site.

I didn't really care about the fight before but now I'm really hoping Tank can pull the "upset." War Tank! Edited by: Poacher

No surprise here. Tank was KO'd in less than a minute.

Let the Kimbo hype begin for beating a fat, overrated, out of shape 43 year old who is 1-8 in his last nine fights.

And please let Kimbo fight someone like Lesnar or Mir next so he can get KTFO. Heck, I'd even accept a rematch with Sean Gannon so the Irish beat cop can choke Slice out again.

At least Pavlik won last night. A Pavlik loss would have been harder to deal with than the washed up Tank loss.

The victory meant nothing. It would have similar meaning to Poetvekin beating up Bert Cooper circa 2008. Tank hasn't been a real fighter in ten years. Still Kimbo looked fast, I still don't know if he can take a punch or defend in the guard though.

Sadly, Tank has been washed up for a while. I knew he had a puncher's chance, but figured his lack of training & focus (& being out of shape) would cost him.

Also, I was also disappointed by all the Kimbo hype on Sherdog. I cannot wait to see Kimbo exposed against a BJJ technican or a wrestler/G&P specialist. However, I'm sure they'll throw a few custom-made fights (with cans) his way in order the Kimbo gravy train on the tracks.

Are they any white guys in MMA? I don't follow it much but all I see on Yahoo Sports is black fighters. I guess this Slice guy is the best of all of them from what I read today. Hopefully someday some white fighters may be able to compete.

I know you are being sarcastic, jax, but right now there is only one white champion in the UFC, Georges St. Pierre at welterweight.

Heavyweight - Antonio Nogueria (Brazilian)
Light Heavyweight - Quinton Jackson (Black)
Middleweight - Anderson Silva (Black Brazilian)
Welterweight - Georges St. Pierre (white)
Lightweight - BJ Penn (Hawaiian)

Given the UFC's current marketing strategy of targeting 'urban' and Hispanic viewers, and the media's bias against white athletes in general, it isn't surprising that there are few, if any, articles about white MMA fighters in the media.

But you know all that already anyway.

Pretty pathetic all the same. I'm sure they beat some white guys to get there. Can we get some Russians involved in this?

The Russians fight at home or in Japan.

Tank has no chin left. The first knockdown was a grazing punch - didn't land cleanly. A check-left - a defensive pucch at that. He was done years ago - even then he never was that good - just entertaining to watch in the early 90's. It's 2008. Who's next for Kimbo? Oleg Taktaroff? Dan Severn? Don Frey? That cop that won one of the UFC's as a sub? I know! Kimbo vs. Kimo!!!

Any old time fans out there?

Yessir! Severn and Frye are still fighting. Severn is like 83-15 or something like that. I think he would actually beat Kimbo.

But they are supposedly considering matching Kimbo against Ken Shamrock for Kimbo's next fight. Ken Shamrock! The guy who got tossed around like a rag doll by Tito Ortiz. Another true test for Kimbo!

I'll probably catch some heat for this, but ol' Tank looked like he wasn't interested in putting up too much of a fight.

It's funny how the UFC pits a potential superstar like Brock Lesnar against a former heavyweight champion still in his prime, and "the great" Kimbo gets to beat up on old men iconically linked to the sports past in EliteXC. I've heard it said before that "Kimbo is the future of the sport" and it looks like this is indeed his manufactured place in mma if he is really set to fight on another man who was a icon so many years ago like Ken. I want to see this gravy train derailed as soon as possible.

Well, he's locked up in an exclusive contract with EliteXC for at least a couple years. You probably won't see him fighting anybody of note anytime soon. His hype can only build so much when he's not in the UFC.

Well BJ Penn is half-white if that makes you feel any better and is going to defend vs Sherk. And Nog is technically still the interim champ, regardless we all know the real belt belongs around the waist of Fedor or Randy.
