Kelly Pavlik won the NABF Middleweight championship last night by TKO in 9 over Fulgencio Zuniga. Pavlik is undefeated and a very good fighter!!

Pavlik now has a record of 27-0 with 23 knockouts. He is very impressive.I like his toughness.Kelly is a good all around boxer who should be very dangerous in the middle weight division.I will have to catch his next fight as I have missed the last few contests.Congrats to him on another big win.

Don't hold your breath waiting for Pavlik to get a big fight. As
always, he will contiue to have battles until he's semi washed up, only
then will the powers that be (Jose Sulimon and Don King) allow him one
significant fight vs a sacred brother. Ever notice that brothers
get to fight for major championships much earlier in their careers as
opposed to whites? With a record of 27-0 with 23 KO's Pavlik
would have already fought for a major belt if he were BLACK!

The Pavlik-Rubio fight is coming up in less than two weeks. I think Kelly is going to be focused and at his very best, and take Rubio out within eight rounds.

This should be easy for Pavlik, after going through and surviving a stern test against Hopkins, how much more difficult can Rubio be?

I hope Pavlik comes out firing on all cylinders this fight. He needs to make a statement after the Hopkins loss. The funny thing is Hopkins lost to Jermain Taylor twice who Pavlik dominated. I guess Hopkins had a style which was too hard for Pavlik to figure out.

Pavlik has not fought for a while now. I'm sure he will come to this fight with a very hungry and determined heart.

And apparently Taylor does not want a third outing against Pavlik as he is challenging Carl Frock for the WBC super-middleweight title.

Taylor knows he can't beat Pavlik as he has already lost to him twice. He must feel confident that he can beat Froch. I think Froch will win by UD.

Rubio does not fight like most Mexicans, and unlike most Mexicans, he is actually white (he reminds of Luigi in Super Mario games). Pavlik should make easy work on him.

Not to make excuses but Pavlik is claiming he was ill during the match vs. Hopkins and bone spurs in his elbow were bothering him. Pavlik said he wasn't even close to 100%. Whatever he was he sure wasn't at 100% and looked sluggish.

However, with Kelly fighting his first ever "big" fight in his home city of Youngstown I fully expect him to be in TOP shape. I'll go with a Pavlik 6th Rd KO.

GO KELLY REPRESENT YOUNGSTOWN & all of NE OHIO!!!

That could be the case WhiteCB. He lost by so much one has to wonder if something was bothering him.

Yeah, this fight is important for the relatively short but explosive career of Pavlik. Kelly needs to make a statement after Bopkins slapped him around the ring. In that fight Kelly looked soft and lathragic. That fight was a no win situation for him, especially since he lost. Now, he has to climb out of hole and blast Rubio into the next week.

I think Kelly started to believe the hype and didn't train properly for Bobkins or underestimated the 43 year old. Well, he can start to erase that debacle by crushing fringe contender Rubio who seems like a nice guy.

After he beats down Rubio, he should focus on King Aurther for a unification match. I also think Kelly should not venture into the super middleweight divsion for a while. Just destroy all comers in his division like Hagler did. He acclaim will come.

I think Abraham would be a very dangerous fight for Pavlik. Abraham, in my opinion, would win this fight. Abraham is very tough, even tougher than Pavlik.

According to boxing writer Thomas Hauser who was in the Pavlik dressing room observed Pavlik coughing up phlegm right before his ring walk against Hopkins.

To Pavlik's credit he hasn't made any excuses about the fight.

Good read here

About halfway through the column you'll read about Kelly's condition and the medication he was on.Edited by: Blue Devils

I watched part of the Hopkins fight. That wasn't the same Kelly who beat Miranda and Taylor. I think Kelly knew he wasn't 100% but he thought his power would bail him out. Plus it was hard to pull out of a 3 million dollar payday.

Tomorrow he starts the climb back up. Vlad did it (from a deeper hole) and Kelly can too.Edited by: The Hock

Yesterday I was on ESPN site and listened to Dan Raphael comment on Pavlik's subpar loss to Hopkins. He confirmed that he spent several hours with Kelly the day before the fight and fight night. He stated that Kelly was sick as a dog. So maybe there is true to the story of him being under the wheather. Go Kelly!

Thank WA33 for the possible stream.
