2 days after Nolan Ryan rips Hamilton for his recent lackluster AB's, Josh is 3 for 4 with his 29th HR and league tie for lead in RBI's at 84.


For whatever reason Ryan chose to rip Hamilton, let's hope Josh is out of his slump.

Mike Trout is 2 for 5 with his 17th HR in just his 80th game of the year! Translates to 34.4 HR's in just his second year in the league.

Ryan seems like a crotchety old man. He had a few lackluster seasons during his career which I'm sure he conveniently forgets. Another case of an old White guy directing criticism towards a White young guy that they would never think of doing to a non-white. Hamilton will be fine.

Nolan Ryan had overpowering stuff, and his longevity was almost beyond belief. His career strikeout mark is likely as untouchable as Cy Young's career wins and other pitching marks set a century ago during the deadball era when pitchers threw almost double the innings of today's pampered starters. Yet unlike Sandy Koufax and Randy Johnson, Ryan never did learn to harness his blazing fastball sufficiently when it came to actually winning games. His career won-lost mark is almost embarrassing considering how hard he was to hit against -- 324 wins but an inexplicable 292 losses.

By contrast, Koufax was 36-40 his first six seasons then went 129-47 his last six seasons before retiring at the age of 30. Johnson was 56-61 his first five seasons, then went an amazing 247-105 thereafter, while Ryan basically remained a .500 pitcher his entire 27 year career.

Hamilton hits HR no. 30 today (2nd,AL) and had 4 RBI to give him 95 (1st, AL)! He's hitting .341 with a couple of HR's and 13 RBI since being ripped by Nolan Ryan a week ago.

Hamilton is hitting .361, 4 HR's and 17 RBI's since July 31st!

Hamilton out 6 to 8 weeks with a thumb injury. :thumbdown: Er...no pun intended. Especially sad because he was hitting so well this year. With luck he can make a quicker than expected recovery and get back to his old self.

Hamilton has 2 HR's in in his first 2 at bats tonight for Texas. It's his 5th game of the season. He hit a double in his first at bat of the season.

What might have been for this guy. He's bigger, faster, and stronger than Bryce Harper.

We'll never know.
