Jon Arnett, legendary running back of the 1950's and early 60s, has passed away at 85. Arnett was known for his spectacular broken-field runs. He could be knocked in the air, land on his feet, and keep running. Arnett excelled as a pass receiver as well as returning kicks.

Arnett was an All American at USC in the mid-50s, five time Pro Bowler for the LA Rams, finished his career with the Bears. Some of his highlights are on youtube.

I don't know if I can find it but I recall an interview with Arnett from a few years back and he talked about how the game changed from his era to today in terms of money. He wasn't bitter but he was pretty matter of fact by stating all of his teammates had a vision beyond football and most had off season jobs as the pay was similar to current CFL players pay.

As for the player he is probably my favorite non hall of fame running back and size aside he is the closest back to C Mac I can recall among White tailbacks, sad news...
