John will most likely be the main ball carrier for Colorado State this season. I was watching a CSU preview on The Mtn. network a little while ago and one of the talking heads said John isn't a guy who you can get 20-25 carries out of each game. The other host said he's a little small. At 5-10 211, I don't see John as small. The only thing about their comments that made sense was the fact that they followed Caste protocol when describing a white runner. They are either too small, too slow, too something else that is undefinable, ad infinitum, ad nauseum. I'm hoping to watch John in person this year, and I hope he gets every opportunity to prove himself to the world, while also proving these Caste

clowns wrong.

John's average 40 yard time has been a 4.53.

2008 (Sophomore)
Played in all 13
games, playing both on special teams and on offense...Had 122 rushing
yards, on 30 carries (4.1 avg.), with two TDs...Also posted 16 catches
for 122 yards (7.6 avg.), and returned 16 kickoffs for 381 yards (23.8
avg.) and another TD...Added a fourth TD, returning an opponent's
fumbled kickoff return, in Game 5...In season opener vs. Colorado (Aug.
31), returned the first kickoff of his collegiate career for a 90-yard
touchdown, snapping the nation's third-longest streak of kickoffs
without a TD (285); on the play, found a crease in the middle of the
field, then out ran three CU pursuers down the far sideline over the
last 40 yards before diving for the pylon...Also converted a third down
with a final-quarter carry in Buffs contest...Had season highs in
carries (7) and yards (27) at Cal (Sept. 27), and produced five first
downs, including his first career rushing TD, a 1-yard plunge; also led
the team with four receptions...In conference-opening win vs. UNLV
(Oct. 4), scored the day's final points, recovering a fumble for a
touchdown with no time remaining on a crazy kickoff return, igniting
the CSU bench into euphoria; earlier, appeared to have recovered a
fumble on another kickoff, when CSU claimed he had stolen the ball from
UNLV kickoff returner Michael Johnson at the Rebels' 26-yard line, but
replays couldn't produce enough conclusive evidence to overturn the
call...Had two carries for 9 yards, vs. TCU (Oct. 11) and the nation's
No. 1 rushing defense; both attempts were on direct snaps...Caught a
career-most five passes at No. 14 Utah (Oct. 18)...In important win at
San Diego State (Oct. 25), proved himself as a valuable playmaker,
catching two timely passes; after converting a third-and-4 late in the
first half, set up Kory Sperry's game-winning TD by taking a short pass
and streaking down the far sideline for 48 yards late in the third
quarter...In tough, 45-42 loss vs. No. 17 BYU (Nov. 1), took a direct
snap and scored on a 9-yard run to give CSU a first-quarter
lead...Early in win vs. New Mexico (Nov. 15), posted the longest carry
of his young career, 14 yards, to convert a third down on a
game-opening field-goal drive...In fourth quarter of win at Wyoming
(Nov. 22), struck the Cowboys with runs of 8 and 9 yards to advance the
Rams' eventual touchdown drive that put the game away, helping CSU to
bowl eligibility...In New Mexico Bowl triumph vs. Fresno State (Dec.
20), saw a 45-yard kickoff return wiped out by a penalty away from the
runback.

2007 (Freshman)
Finished with 14 carries for 40
yards (2.9 avg.), and five catches for 46 yards (9.2 avg.), including
one TD...Made his college debut in season opener at Colorado (Sept. 1),
carrying once for 1 yard...Also played briefly in Week 2 vs. Cal (Sept.
8)...At Houston (Sept. 22), scored his initial career TD on his first
collegiate reception, a weaving, 21-yard play that gave CSU an early
14-3 advantage...Took the bulk of the carries at TCU (Sept. 29), with
34 yards on 10 attempts...Underwent mouth surgery during the practice
week and did not play at BYU (Nov. 3), but returned to his
special-teams role at New Mexico (Nov. 10)...Caught a pass for 6 yards
in win vs. Georgia Southern (Nov. 17).

If 5'10 211 lbs. is simply to small, but Gartrell's 5'10 217 lbs. isn't then I'll simply believe that Obama is not the President (despite evidence to the fact staring me straight in the face!)

This is ridiculous!

These guys ever hear of Darren Sproles, MJD, Ray Rice, Priest Holmes, Barry Sanders, Tiki Barber, Emmitt Smith...

Or how about hyped 2010 draft class prospects: C.J Spiller, William Ford, Eugene Jarvis, Trindon Holliday...The list goes on ad nauseam of guys that are shorter, lighter or both and some of these guys also have worse significantly measureables than Mosure...

For instance 5'9 and 205 lbs Mike Hart and his 4.67 40 in the NFL or Damion Fletcher at 5'9 177 lbs with a 4.65 40, but I think I'll just continue to believe Obama is not President of the United States! Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins

Maybe he thinks that he is too small for a fullback;) I would say that 5'10" and 211 lbs is the prototype size for a running back.

The sad fact of this is that the man who said Mosure couldn't get 20-25 carries was none other than 5 time Pro-Bowl TE Todd Christensen. For some reason, he always looks like he has a sour ball in his mouth. The man who said he was too small to be the feature back was James Bates, former all-SEC LB for Florida. If he meant fullback, he didn't say it. They had been talking about Gartrell Johnson, who John will be replacing. Johnson is listed as 5-10, 219. They conveniently forgot to mention the fact that in 2006, when Kyle Bell was out, Johnson started 7 games and ran for a paltry 305 yards on 109 carries for a 2.8 average. Yeah, he had a great end of 2007 and 2008, but he's not irreplaceable.

Gartrell Johnson also runs a plodding 4.76 40 at that "small" height for a RB! Mosure is 0.23 seconds faster which is a big difference over a mere 40 yards.

Tough, that's a nice, but obviously short, list of some well-known negro backs who show the truth of the matter when talking about being "too small" to play tailback.

i did a thorough piece on the reality of the matter at the end of last season. you can read it here:

Too small? Or too White?

Yeah I read that piece JC! It was a very thoughtful article.

It's really a crime that Kmic wasn't even thought good enough for even an NFL tryout. The all time NCAA leading rusher is pushed immediately into obscurity and forgotten just like that. He may have been division III, but he was downright the most dominant Division III RB to ever play even more so than Justin Beaver.

Also of note, Pierre Garcon is competing for the Colts 3rd WR spot and he is out of the same Division III school and wasn't nearly as dominant statistically as Kmic. Kmic is 5'9, but has a solidly built frame and I have heard runs in the high 4.4, low 4.5 range. So what is the story here with this "blackballing" of Kmic?

what i find strange though is that Woodhead has gotten a "chance" but guys like Kmic and Zwiggi have not.

Woodhead has not gotten a chance greenfire. Has he gotten even one regular season carry? We all know the answer to that.

Woodhead is very fast and had some media exposure, which I think is the difference in why he was picked up by the Jets and Nate Kmic has been ignored. Nate, in a strange twist of Caste irony, played at Mount Union, just like the aforementioned Pierre Garcon. For Garcon, being black didn't keep him from a getting picked up by a team, unlike his much more dominant white teammate Nate. That, my friends, is a perfect example of what makes the Caste System so bad.

Right you are, backrow. It pays to do a little research into things, because answers aren't always as simple as "the Caste System or "because he's white," although they do tend to be good assumptions when discussing why white players don't get opportunities.
