Bizarre story. Sort of sad, considering what could've been, had he not quit football at 14, then stopped playing until the age of 26? Is now 28, so his chances of playing in the NFL are slim, regardless how well he does in the CFL. Could've been another Jordy Nelson or, at the very least, a Chris Hogan type, had he returned to football in his early 20's? Will play on CBS Sports, along with A.J. Oulette, tomorrow at 3:00 PM EST.

Quick Look:

** Joe gave up football at age 14 (2011), when he was 4-foot-11, and did not play another game of organized football until he was 26.

** The grandson of legendary Los Angeles Rams and New York Giants defensive lineman Andy Robustelli returned to the gridiron in 2023 with an NCAA Division II school — Tusculum University.

** Out of football for 12 years, Robustelli was training with NFL luminaries such as Patrick Surtain II (Denver Broncos). ..... “They said, ‘Listen, you’re a freak athlete. Don’t give up. You’ll figure it out,’ ” Robustelli said.

** Age 26, he caught 20 passes for 475 yards — an average of 23.8 yards per catch — and six touchdowns in eight games with Tusculum.

** Has been up and down this CFL season, but had 11 catches, 191 yards and 1 TD v. Calgary in July.
