What an addition to the White Sox he has been.He is leading the major leagues in homers with 15.I love it.He is as classy a guy as you will find in the whole league.Jim could possible approach 500 homers by years end if he has a monster season.Either way,he is on a team that appreciates him,and he has a chance to win a ring which he wants so bad.I can't wait to see him join the 500 Homer Club.Keep up the great slugging Thome!

He hashit 13 homers as of today. He'd have to hit another 487 dingers to reach the - 500- mark by years end. Now that would be a monster season.

I'm just kidding around. I like Thome too and would like to see him do very well. If he can stay healthy, he'll reach 500 easily next year.
 
Jim passed Dave Kingman on the all-time HR list. He needs 10 more to pass Carl Yastrzemski. I think Jim is 31st all-time but I don't know how many HR Manny Ramirez has. I know Gary Sheffield, Jeff Bagwell, and Frank Thomas all have more homers than him.

What a steal Thome was in my fantasy draft, I got him in the 7th RD. hahaha I was laughing all the way to the bank on that pick. I knew he would bounce back from last year.
 
16 Homers and counting as he continues his progression towards the magic 500 homeruns!!What a season he is having.He is absolutley killing the baseball.
 
yes, but that racist barry bonds still gets alot of attention. keep up the good work jim thome, at least we know you earned your accomplishment.

Jim Thome will be 36 later this year.My hope is that he can continue having a monster year and end up with around 470-480 homers by years end.Then if he can just average 30 homers a year up until he is 40,he will go over 600 homeruns which at the moment,only 4 people have ever done.H.Aaron,B.Bonds,B.Ruth,and W.Mays.That would put him in very rare category.Keep it up Jim!

Thome has a very good chance to reach 600 home runs. It's too bad he missed most of last year otherwise he'd already be close to 500 right now at the age of 35.


Thome doesn't lift weights; like a lot of great white athletes past and present he is naturally strong as a bull. No one,not even the Caste System media,will ever claim that he used steroids.
 
Sorry, Don but Thome does lift weights. Compare a young 1995 Jim Thome with the Indians and compare that body with the White Sox Thome of today. You will notice that Jim has gone from 190 to about 215. Not that Thome uses steroids but he does lift. I have Thome's autograph so I'm really hoping he gets 600 HRS. $$$$$$$$

He still isn't a muscled freak. Of course he has bulked up, what the hell kind of person that depends on his physical strength for his livlihood wouldn't build himself up?
 
I don't think he looks that much different. He gained some weight around the waist but his arms haven't changed much.
 
That looks like filling out. Not roiding out. compare the Bonds photos pre and post Balco........

He's probably gained about 20 lbs of muscle over the years by eating right and lifting many a weights.

Just to be clear, I'm not judging the guy. I really like him. But let's be honest, the difference is pretty big. I never saw him that thin, and that photo was a big surprise. It could be natural filling out over time, and even if it's not, I don't care as long as he's never caught.

Someone who wants to be "fair" would point out that if he were black, we'd be much more suspicious. I don't care about being "fair," but others have some weird obsession with the concept.

I do think it's unfair to compare Bonds to his photo in 87(when he was 25) to his photo in 2004(when he was 40).

Interesting set of photos, Bear Arms. He looks to be pretty much the same until 1999. And by 2000 the transformation is obvious.
 
Jim Thome is having a good year with 22 HR's so far,but let's not forget Adam Dunn of the Reds who has 23 HR's.Both are big guys-Thome at 6'4 245 and Dunn at 6'7 275.Like to see them both hit over 60 HR's each this season!!
 
28 and counting.He's just about half way to 60 and look how old he is.You have to love Jim Thome.I can't wait for him to join the magic 500 club next season.
 
Jim missed a lot of the games against N.L. teams because of Konerko at first. He played the field a few times though and did an alrightie job.
 
How did Thome not get an invite for the HR Derby. I guess leading the MLB in HRs now a days just doesn't cut it unless your name is Miguel. Then you can be like Miguel Cabrera who only has 14 Hrs and makes the cut.
 
I think they changed the HR Derby so that only one American gets to bat. I know Jermaine Dye will be doing it so I guess the only American representative will be black.
