Lumsden signed a free agent deal with the Seattle
Seahawks today.I am happy but sad at the same time.
The Seahawks have the nfl's leading rusher already.
He lost by a yard but you know what I mean.I just
don't know how Jesse will get any playing time or
worse yet they might try to make him into a fullback.
Hopefully not.Maybe he can at least get 5-10 touches
a game. Also,if he has success, maybe another team will
show interest down the road. Here is the link.

I guess Jesse is pretty satisfied going to Seattle,he mentioned how pleased he was how the 'Hawks kept him informed in the later rounds about their plans for him.Have to wonder who those other teams were that showed interest in signing Jesse.I think the reason we didn't here anything about Jesse's workout with Seattle was because he probably wowed them and they didn't want the word getting out.Interesting to note that Seattle is looking at Jesse to return kick-offs as well.As well. That's a good sign since they have other plans for him,as in carrying the ball.Jesse can retun kicks since he did it regularly at Mac for three years, but not much last year. Some on this board may not like the fact that he will be returning kicks, but this is a way for him to get a roster spot, get his foot in the door as teams want value for their buck from their back-ups and this is a good way to increase his value.Mini-camps are this weekend and this is Jesse's first good chance to impress.

Seattle is a good fit for Lumsden, given that Shaun Alexander is probably on the way out via a trade. He has been given the franchise designation, which is a year to year thing. When the player is unhappy like Alexander is, he is usually either traded or signed to a long-term deal. Given that the Seahawks just signed Matt Hasselbeck to a big contract, we can realistically hope that it's the former with Alexander.

The biggest negative about Seattle of course, is Mike Holmgren's long and determined record of using whites only as QBs and blockers. Hopefully the signing of Joe Jurevicius is a sign that things are changing in that area.

Who was the last kick returner that got a chance to run the football at tailback?

How ironic is this, jaxvid.Chris Warren handled the kick-off and punt return duties for three years until he was ready to take over at HB.He was a multiple 1000 yard rusher and three time Pro Bowler for that team in Washington state,oh yeah,Seattle. Can we possibly say lightning or should I say white lightning striking twice in the apple state.

You guys have to go to nfl.com and then click on the
Seattle Seahawks website. Then click on the video that
has Mike Holmgreen talking. They talk alot about Jesse
Lumsden and actually show highlights of him in practice!

Lumsden looks like he is a excellent receiver from the
film footage. He has really good hands and they were
worried about that as one of his weaknesses. The only
thing I really hate is that he has 3 running backs
above him on the depth chart.I just hope that he makes
the team and they find a place to play him at least
some of the time.Even if it is only running back kicks.

That's a nice article about Lumsden on the Seahawks site. Unfortunately, probably no one outside of Jesse's fan base north of the border will be the least bit surprised or upset if he's cut. Mike Holmgren now has Lumsden, Joe Jurevicius and Jerheme Urban on his team. Back in the late '90s in Green Bay he had Travis Jervey and Bill Schroeder and we know what happened there. Complimentary articles about white players at forbidden positions are not rare this time of year; giving them an opportunity is.

I sure hope something happens and Jesse improves his position. We need some more guys to make the rosters at RB, and bad. I sure hope he makes it in Seattle.

I am almost inclined to think that he would be better off
to get cut by the Seahawks.I would like to see him play
for the Colts.I really don't see James staying on running
back beyond this season. They need a feature back and they
would probably give him a legitimate shot to play that
position and maybe become a star.I see him sitting in
Seattle for the most part even if he makes the team. Some
team needs to play this kid.Incredible size, speed and
power. What is not to like?I hate the nfl sometimes.

The Colts were one of the 4 teams that came to watch his
private workout. They were very impressed.I think they will
make an offer to him if he is cut.In fact,I will predict
that 95% they offer him a contract if Seattle cuts him.
I have some sources which I won't reveal.I hope it happens.

Secret sources you say? Hmmm....can your sources tell me if Stokely has a chance to start this year? If Owens will hold out, or if Forsey will make the team?

From what I hear,Owens will have an agreement in place by
mid to late August.Stokley will still be a 3rd receiver
but should have another big season.I think that next
season, they will not resign the #2 receiver and Stokley
will become the number 2 in 2006.He is already signed to
a long contract.Brock Forsey is a long shot to make the
Redskins but I wish him the best of luck.I'm a big fan
of Brock. He is a little pocket dynamo that has great moves
but because of his size & skin tone, people don't give him
even close to a fair chance.

Redskins have the great Clinton Portis, then Ladell Betts, Rocky Cartwright, Dahrann Diedrick and then Forsey. Edited by: hollywoodnorth1

I am so sick and tired of waiting for a nfl team to give
a white running back a chance. The Seahawks signed Alexander
to a one year deal and he has a no trade claus while they
try to work out a long term deal.He can refuse any trade
he wants.I don't think Lumsden will even get 1/2 a chance
up there. He needs to go to another team in my opinion.
Jesse Lumsden has so much talent. If he were black, they
would be fighting to get him on there team.He is the
closest back to Luke Staley to come along in a while. The
NFL sucks. They refuse to have white running backs. It is
so engrained in every team that it makes me sick. Please,
some team give this kid a chance. He is 6'2 230 lbs and
runs a 4.4 in the 40!What the hell else do they need?

Well it's wait & see for Lumsden.Alot of talk is that he
is going to be cut soon.He was hit weird in practice and
sustained a leg injury.Jesse is ready to play again but
what little window that was opened,is probably about to
close. This kid is too good to not go some where. All along,
I had hoped that he would go to the Colts. He will never
play in Seattle even if they keep him.I'm hoping they cut
him soon and the Colts take a chance on him.He would fit
it perfect there. Can you guys imagine him starting at the
running back there next season,P.Manning at qb,Stokley at
wide receiver,D.Clark at T.E. and Standeford as another
receiver. They Pyatt returning kicks.I would go and run to
buy a Colts Jersey.lol.

That would be awesome WL! That would be like a pro Boise State. Then we would have to work on their defense.

What a shocker!!!! Lumsden was cut today and his place on the roster was taken by the legendary Josh Scobey. He never had a chance, especially on a team coached by Holmgren. It wouldn't surprise me if Jurevicius and Urban soon follow.

Looks like Forsey is the only white tailback left on an NFL roster and he is sure to go by the final cutdown day. I truly believe if John Riggins was a rookie in the NFL today he would be cut.

He didn't even make it to the first official cutdown day!

Of course Holmgren knows that no reporter will ask him any questions, like why did you cut an award winning running back with a great combination of size, speed and running ability who never even got to play in an exhibition game, much less query him about his long-time animus toward white players.

Maybe Caste Football should start an annual award for Caste System Jackass of the Year. If Urban gets cut and Jurevicius is cut or underused, Holmgren will be a strong candidate.
