Even though I live pretty close to the Jersey shore, I don't watch the show. My guess is that it's no better or worse than any other reality show out there. I understand that I am not the target audience for these types of shows and I try to understand the whole generation gap thing. I remember when I was a teenager and how many adults hated the show 'Welcome Back Kotter', which I thought was great. So I try not to get angry about everything I don't like. My daughter likes the show but she's an Italian girl from N.J. so maybe she feels a connection to the show.
I work nights and the whole nightshift crew is Italian guys in their 40's & 50's. My boss(Italian) was on the internet reading an interview from one of the girls on 'Jersey Shore' and she said her and her friends were getting dressed up to go out looking for some "hot meatball men". I got a laugh from the quote but my boss was annoyed. The next night when my boss got to work I said, "Well, the meatball crew is all here now". He laughed and agreed so I guess he has moved past his anger. He's a lot like us and we have some great discussions at night.
Since I have been posting at Castefootball I have come to the conclusion that I cannot be perpetually angry and still enjoy life. I had to stop reading the website 'American Renaissance' because I was getting too angry over some cop or schoolteacher in some little town somewhere. So I have tried to harness my anger for the issues I consider the most important to me and all like minded people.
I still support 'Burn Notice' as the best show on TV right now.
