jeremy bloom defeated both will allen and curtis martin in the 100 yard dash at cbs superstars competition. he apparterntly is fast so i guess the scouts will have to find another reason why he would be playing in the nfl.

They'll see he's too small. That's always a ready excuse for white players who aren't tall.

Bloom has to rank right up there as one of THE most screwed athletes by the caste system in recent years. A world class skier and elite wide receiver/kick returner. Could you imagine a black with that kind of resume? It would be move over Tiger Woods, LeBron James and Michael Vick, there's a new sheriff in town. Jeremy should be a role model and hero to many millions of white kids; instead, he's barred by the NCAA from playing football.

Jeremy Bloom won that Superstars Competition too.He is
as fast as they come with all of the moves to go with
it.He is very good at making people miss.Bloom is the
type of athlete that the NFL needs more of.He is not
all thug looking like most of these guys.

Again, sadly, another white super-athlete whom i've never heard of. Maybe he will be able to get a spot somewhere and be able to prove himself.

It's great to have you at this message board Col.Reb.I
enjoy reading your posts.I think Jeremy would make an
excellent wide receiver or possible even a running back.
He would only have to put on around 15-20 pounds. He has
speed to burn and just is a natural runner/athlete.He
would lite the nfl up.I can't wait for after the winter
olympics to see him try out for the nfl.

Here's a brief update on Bloom. I couldn't find a link for this.

"World Cup freestyle skiing champion Jeremy Bloom, who gave up college football so he could keep his ski sponsors, said he's considering a career in the NFL. 'I think it's a definite possibility for me; the dream's still alive,' Bloom said yesterday.

"Bloom, 5 feet 9, played two seasons as a kick-return specialist at Colorado but lost a long legal battle with the NCAA over ski sponsors. He did not play last season but said he might work out for NFL scouts after the 2006 Olympics in Turin, Italy, in February.

"Bloom trimmed down when he stopped playing football and said he would have to bulk up again for the NFL. 'I would have to do some serious training and put back on the 15,20 pounds I lost,' he said."

he has outstanding speed but will need to bulk up. he runs a true 4.4 40, but has never been able to build up hisupper body because of sking. he could certaly be a kick returner on serval different teams. i think he was just as good as cad owens.

He is actually faster than Chad Owens who runs a 4.5
to 4.6 in the 40.Bloom has amazing ability despite his
short stature.I would love to see him at the least,be
like D.Hall in Kansas City.He deserves the chance. It
would be really cool to see him bulk up a little and try
out at running back. His moves because of the freestyle
skiing would break peoples ankles.I would love to see
that but most likely at kickoff/punt returner and a
3rd receiver.

Bloom has the ability to be better than Dante Hall as a returner. He has sprinter speed with incredible quickness. WL is right about the skiing helping him. Mogul skiing is all about quick reflexes and he is the best mogul skier in the world. The only media that recognizes him is the ski media. If he were black, he would be recognized by the mainstream sports media as a two sport wonder like Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders.

If Bloom were black he would be as hyped as Jackson and Sanders combined. (Hell, if there is ever a great black skier period he would be a household name.) But not only isBloom basically unknown outside of skiing circles, the NCAA wouldn't let him play football last year at Colorado. That was an outrageous injustice but of course the media had no interest in it for the same reason they don't want two-sport white stars -- it doesn't fit the script.

I watched this guy play in a collegegame out at CU. He is a stud! I hope that he goes to the NFL!

People talk about Dante Hall being fast and athletic, they haven't seen nothing until they have seen Jeremy Bloom. This guy is the real deal if he ever decides to pursue an NFL career.

Don mentioned this SI article briefly, but I thought it was worth linking to.

http://www.usolympicteam.com/11485_40347.htm

Some interesting excerpts:

- As a football player at Colorado for the 2002 and '03 seasons, Bloom, who's just 5'10" and 170 pounds (he says he'll weigh more by the time NFL training camps open in July), scored five touchdowns of at least 75 yards on returns and pass receptions. "We had games in 2003 where we put an offense on the field with two receivers [D.J. Hackett and Derek McCoy] who both [went to] the NFL," says Buffaloes coach Gary Barnett, "and teams would single-cover them and double Bloom because he was the guy they feared could beat them."

- Tony Davis, who was a running back at Nebraska and for six years in the NFL, and who worked with Bloom as a volunteer assistant coach at Loveland (Colo.) High from 1998 to 2001, says, "Jeremy has killer acceleration. I'll bet there aren't five guys in the NFL who can match him in the first 20 yards."

- After the Games he will rush toward the NFL. "He's a guy you have to look at," says NFL personnel evaluator Ron Hill. "He's smallish but athletic, plays at a fast pace." At the combine Kreis expects Bloom to run exceptionally fast in the 40--perhaps as fast as 4.2 seconds--and to lift 225 pounds as many as 18 or 19 times, very good for a small man. It is risky to attend the combine so soon after skiing and without intense football training, but Bloom has told Tony Davis, "To heck with it. I'll still blow them away."

- Bloom's girlfriend of 18 months is Cameran Eubanks, 22, one of the stars of MTV's Real World San Diego. (He's not gay as has been hinted by some posters).

Here is to him running a legit 4.2 at the combine. That would really open some eyes and drop some jaws.He is a very likeable guy too.Good luck to him.I can't wait to see him become the next Tim Dwight!

4.2 is setting the bar awful high. Everyone knows he's fast and elusive, anything under 4.40 would be nice.

Will be interesting to see how much media coverageBloom receives at the Winter Olympics as a star skier/football playervs. the attention paid to the black speed skater Shani Davis. One thing we know -- ifDavis does well, he'll receive much, much more attention and acclaim than did Jeremy Wariner (two gold medals) last year at the Summer Games.

That's a very good point of the double standard involved in sports these days.As they say, anything to keep whitey down.Didn't Davis fail to qualify for either the short or the long track?I could have sworn he didn't make the US Team in one of the events.

A bench press of 18 or 19 times with 225 is outstanding for a skill player in the NFL. When taking into consideration his bodyweight (170 lbs.), it's amazing. How could anyone question his upper body strength with these stats if they are accurate?
