Hello, Caste-aways!
I've enjoyed this site for many months but this is my first post.
I am a life-long Atlanta Braves fan, and I couldn't be prouder of the
Braves organization -- the Braves have six young White players -- all
from Georgia -- on their current roster (Kyle Davies, B. Bower, McKay
McBride, Kyle Farnsworth, Brian McCann, and Jeff Francoeur), and each
of them are solid major leaguers.
But, of course, none of these guys get any national attention (except
maybe Farnsworth, and then only for his quick temper and reputation as
a hot-head.) But the national media's silence regarding Jeff
Francoeur is deafening.
If you haven't already, be sure to check this kid out: He's three (3)
years removed from high school, and he's batting .406, 7 HR, 19 RBI,
and he's a wizard with the glove (he had 2 assists from the outfield 2
nights ago). He was All-World (not to mention a local legend) in
high school, where he led Parkview H.S. (Lilburn, GA) to back-to-back
state championships in Georgia's highest classification, as well as a
State Championship in baseball. His interception returned for a
touchdown in a state semi-final game was televised, and it is the
stuff of legend around here. He turned down a scholarship to
Clemson (where he would have played football and baseball) to sign with
his hometown heroes, the Atlanta Braves. And now he's the hottest
player on the team and one of the best in the league over the last
month, at the ripe old age of 21. He's charismatic, an
All-American dude, chicks swoon over him, and somehow, SOMEHOW,
Michelle Wie is more of a household name.
If Francoeur was black, he would be non-stop front-page news, a media
darling, and he would already have signed several multimillion
dollar licensing deals with major corporations. If anyone ever
doubted the existence of the caste, you need only to look at the
media's treatment of Francoeur's story to prove that the caste
exists.
