Uh I think some are missing the point. Yes Dirk would have been the best white player to lead his team to the top since Bird but for me this series for caste purposes was nearly a wash--given that Van Horn was underpar due to injuries etc.
And I noticed the media has avoided him as well but isn't anybody going to rejoice in Jason winning a crown other than me. I deal with all sorts of people and his hip hop whatever doesn't faze me. The guy has white boy tattoed on his hand--and he is as white as they come genetically. Can you get any more white looking?
He made the best pass of the series--a behind the back doozy to Mourning and was a steady presense throughout even if his shot was off a bit at times. He was awesome in the last game against the Pistons. And keep in mind folks I could be mistaken but off the top of my head when was the last starting white pg on a champion team? I do not count John Paxton who was a shooting guard. Man oh man one may have to go back to the Lakers in 1972 with Gail Goodrich? Who was the pg on Rick Barry's winning team? Whatever it has been ages and since shorter white guys are seen as no more little stand behind the line three point shooters and nothing else with Jason we have a guy that can penetrate. Anyway all in all at
least a white guy was in the mix this year. K Poop hit in on the nail. Devin Harris was crap--despite all the swooning over his "quickness." Reminds me of when the Spurs had to pull Tony Parker from the lineup he was so awful --during Ginobli's first ring year. As for Jason funny how he always plays for winning teams. The media hates him and even here at caste I am disappointed in the silence. And unlike so many black players like Iverson who hoist up 60 shots a game--JW I guess realized early on that basketball frowns on white ball hogs--despite the fact he was physically gifted enough to HOG the ball and score lots of points.. So he adapted his game and became a pass first kind of guy.
I see the Kings finally won that championship after getting rid of ole Jason--yeh right. So the media bashing of Dirk hurts but cheer up people a white dude was the starting point guard on a title team. At least some progress.
