Snow, no worries, Carolina will not draft Newton first. If they do, I may leave N. Carolina. If I'm wrong about this remind me later. I think they'll trade down before that happens and put the pressure elsewhere. Honestly, I'm not sure if anyone really wants to draft Newton first, I think everyone wants to pass to the next team (to alieve the pressure)for fear of drafting a bust. I know it's happened before, but the fallout here could be disastrous. I'm not sure Carolina has completely given up on Clausen just yet. Terrible o-line, receivers, and secondary, Carolina is only stable at the RB's and LB's, they need help just about everywhere else.
Hey, I think there's been more than oneanalyst to expose Scam's flaws. Merril Hoge and couple others, can't remember the rest.

Has Carolina Speed left N. Carolina yet? Did anyone remind him how wrong he was? Is he now on the Newton bandwagon?

I made a mistake and I'll make more. Everyone does. I wished I would have been right on that prediction.

I believe the quote was, "I may leave N.C.", I haven't yet, but I hope to, once my children are done with school.

Bandwagon? That's hilarious!

As much as I sometimes don't like to admit it, I'm a Dallas fan, always have been, since the days of Roger Staubach, Walt Garrison, Bob Lilly, Cliff Harris, Charlie Waters, etc.

Not really a bandwagon kind of person. Sorry.

I'm just kidding, I saw your post at the top of the page and thought I'd rib you.

I wish you were right too, I thought for sure he'd be another Vince Young if not Jamarcus Russell, but this guy is completing passes, those other guys could not. There is usually about one good black Qb in an era, examples Moon, McNabb, Culpepper, and now maybe Newton, it's not impossible for it to happen, just rare. Newton is playing good. Forget about winning. If Tebow was putting up those numbers and losing we would be talking him up regardless. We need to be consistent. It doesn't change the our arguments about the caste system if an occasional black Qb can play the position well.

Yeah, this one, Newton, bothers me a little more, because he came in with a some baggage. It seems he's gotten away with something, it just feels that way about this guy.

Young seemed to be an ok guy, he just didn't seem too bright to me, atleast not bright enough to play QB and with Russell, he just looked bad from the beginning, out of shape and didn't seem too sure of himself the way Newton does.

The "Yes we Cam" posters with the likeness to Obama around the Panthers Stadium make me sick!

I made another prediction about Tebow on I believe the NFL thread, that he will find a way to play better this week when he starts against the Raiders, against all odds. I hope I'm not wrong about that one too!

Remember when posters started to think that Freeman was going to be the real deal, one of the few black quarterbacks to be in the top. This year not so much. Teams will adapt to the scheme Carolina is running over time. If Denver were willing to use the same concepts Tebow ran in college he would look better than Newton.

I mean, they let Cam BE the offense for the first few weeks, lots of running and dump offs to the backs and tight ends. Now he throws the occasional jump pass to Steve Smith who has reverted back to his old form. Concepts he ran at Auburn. Tebow doesn't have any elite tight ends or runningbacks, McGahee is injured. He just has Decker. They need to let him run the ball and the occasional pass to Decker with lots of dump offs. Knowshon Moreno is crap but he can pick up 10 yards on a well designed screen.

He needst to be in shotgun for most of the game, if they want to run power plays they can run them with Tebow taking the direct snap, this is what Carolina does. He is still improving his footback/dropping back and his line isn't the greatest at pass protection, so when he is dropping back he usually has several defenders in his face by the time he is releasing the ball. The best way to neutralize the pass rush if qb power, which they run but only in the red zone.

Newton is playing as well as could be expected. Carolina had the worst team in the league last year, so they figure to have a losing record even with a good season from Newton.

I dont think its possible that anybody could ever be a bigger bust than Jamarcus. The player would have to be 1st overall pick and somehow be worse than Russell.
