I know track is dead for the next few months but I wanted to start a thread on this kid.
He is a 16 year old Australian 100 meter sprinter.
Last month he set the Australian under 18 100 meter record in a wind legal 10.42. He has also run a legal 10.44 so he is no fluke. The kid looks like he weighs 100 pounnds wearing a wet paper bag but maybe one more to watch for down the road.

get on the track board. I think it's gonna be another big year next summer. So many young ones to watch as they rise
to the top. Hope Kristoffer Hari is back to health and gets back to laying down some incredible times.

WOW!!!!! 16-yr-old Aussie wonder, Jack Hale, just ran a 10.13. Not wind legal, but still ridiculous for that age. Read the tweets embedded in the article. Everyone is flabbergasted. Equally as flabbergasting: he only just edged out Rohan Browning (10.18) in the final 20 meters. Browning is also 16. These were the fastest times by any Aussies of any age in 2014.

Check out the photo of the finish. Both Hale and Browning look like kids. This is the future:

Wow this is fantastic. Hale looks so confident but I also think Browning has a bright future. Your right that they look like kids. Outstanding
news coming out of Australia. I'm pumped right now. Great find trackster.

The youth from around the world continues to step it up. One thing is for sure. Lemaitre will not be the only white to run a sub 10. It is
only a matter of time before many more break down the magical barrier. I cannot wait to see more of our guys making world championship and olympic finals someday. This made my weekend.

Thanks for the link. These kids look like kids. That's one hurdle that Whites have in competition with blacks; whites don't physically mature as early as blacks, neither do Asians in fact. Very few coaches keep this in mind, never mind brainwashed idiotic "scouts" in other sports.

Here's more on the youngster who finished a close second to Hale in that insanely fast race. Turns out I was initially wrong (I'll see if I can edit my post), Browning is not 17. Like Hale, he is still just 16, by virtue of a late December virtue. So that's two 16-year-olds running under 10.20. Insane. Here's a nice interview with Rohan Browning.

Also, if you read articles about Hale you'll learn that he chiefly considers himself a long jumper and that his speed really developed as soon as he stopped lifting weights and started doing box jumps instead. Now, I don't know how universal that training response is. It could simply be that he started maturing around the same time. Still, box jumps over weights. Food for thought.

worth noting Hale has long jumped 25'2" recently. Browning goes to my son's old school where he is coached by Andrew Murphy who is still Australian triple jump record holder at 56'9.5" (17.32) - very passionate coach, 4 kids of his own, still jumps 13.5+ (45') at 45.

also of note at this meeting was the win of James Gallaugher in the under 14s. You may remember him as the "world's fastest 12 year old" from a few years back.

He had a 2.2 wind assist but still ran 10.67 to win (his legal best being 10.89).
He just dabbles in long jump but is already past 21'

Celebrated my retirement with nearly a year in Europe 2013-2014 then back for some big motorcycle adventures.. been busy:sad:. I thought I may get you a CL autograph while in Annecy but couldn't find him :icon_mrgreen:.
I did get to the last big T&F meet of the year in Berlin 2013 (saw Pink Floyd "the wall" in the same stadium 3 days later).

So, back keeping my eye on Aussie athletes. Will add anything here I think worthwhile.
I'd love to see those 16yo's get some invites to the various state meets this coming season
