Italy has become the epi-centre of the Covid-19 outbreak, and has had 5 consecutive days of approximately 500 people dying per day. There is no indication currently that the outbreak is slowing down, on the contrary it seems to be getting worse and today they posted an alltime high # of deaths. They currently lead the world in total deaths (4,032 as of March 20, 627 of which occurred within the past 24 hours), and with 4,027 deaths in 47,021 cases, have a death rate of 8.6%, almost 10%. To put that in perspective, an elderly man (75+) in Italy would have an almost 50% probability of dying if infected.

It is sad that anyone is dying, but we should also take a look to see what brought Italy to this point.
It is interesting to note, that the virus first appeared in Italy via 2 Chinese tourists who had flown in from Wuhan in Rome on January 31. This means the Italians had more than 1 month to close their borders in some capacity or limit travel from China but chose not to do so. There were calls earlier for Italy to shut down its borders, or atleast stop flights from Wuhan but the Government had launched an "anti-racism" campaign and didn't want to appear racist, and prided itself on its policy of liberalism and "open borders".
There was a policy rolled out by municipal governments to support and hug Chinese people in February.
Professor of Virology and Microbiology at the University of Padova Dr. Giorgio Palù told CNN that measures imposing travel restrictions and border controls were taken too late due to fears over political correctness.
Once the outbreak exploded in Italy, they found out they had a shortage of ventilators and medical equipment to treat sick Italians, and being the leftists and globalists that they are, they of course relied on the EU to provide these things (because diversity is a strength and international trade trumps self sufficiency right?). But guess what? When sh1t got real their EU buddies were nowhere to be found. That didn't happen because other nations like Germany and France recognized that there was a shortage of medical items on hand and they would need it for themselves.
So the EU has delivered and assisted Italy in no capacity whatsoever.
Italians' desire to appear non-racist and have open borders brought the virus in and started the pandemic, then their desire to rely on a globalist union like the EU to help them made the situation catastrophically worse to the point they do not have a capacity to save their own citizens.
Italy is turning into a graveyard and the irony involved in this whole "sh1t show" is absolutely uncanny. Italy's leftism, open borders, and support of globalism over the national well being has literally decimated its own population.
