Deadlift
Hall of Famer
The NFC is somewhat irrelevant to me. I really don't care if they send their blackest team to the Super Bowl.
Except for the coal black O-lines of Baltimore and Pittsburgh (and if they make the playoffs - 3 blacks on the Jets O), the AFC playoff teams are a bit Whiter than their NFC counterparts. I'd rather see Miami in the playoffs and not the Jets.
When I look at the AFC, there's few things that can go wrong in my mind. If Chicago doesn't make the playoffs, the black coach "storyline" will be solely in the AFC. Both Pittsburgh and Indy have some on-the-field problems. My opinion of Indy is more favorable because of Peyton, Dallas Clark, Ryan Diem -- and Dungy is > than the visibly clueless Tomlin.
It's interesting that black coaches usually have a White QB in the NFL. Peyton and Big Ben will be going for their second Super Bowl title. I can't root for Pittsburgh because of the way the organization operates. In all likelihood, both of these teams will be watching the Super Bowl from their homes. Indy's defense is soft. That will be difficult to overcome.
San Diego would make the playoffs interesting. They got screwed with that Ed Hochuly(?) call, and I think they have more potential to do damage than lowly Denver with their "you don't have to play defense" clauses in the player contracts they give.
Denver is the AFC's equivalent of Arizona and they would almost certainly be one-and-done in the playoffs. Pennington and Rivers would round-off the AFC playoff QB-class nicely. White talent -vs- White talent in the AFC. It should be great! Anything can happen...
