Lee is a freshman tailback with Louisiana Tech. I was looking up Ray Holley stats. and found this kid. He does have 1 carry for 4 yards so since this has been a dismal start for our guys I thought I would mention it.

Hunter Furr is transferring ( this might be a good thing )

Sam McGuffie is playing horrible

Mike Trumpy is out for the year

Jeff Woody is now third string

Ben Thompson is now third string

Drew Phillips has left BYU

Suasan Shakerin has quit Utah because of concussions

Derek Lawson is having a lousy senior year

Robbie Frey has transferred though he is playing well and....

other than Line, Burkhead and Navy's John Howell it might not be until next year before we see some improvement.

On the good news front: Travis Elliot is going to Western Kentucky, Joe Riddle to Maryland, Brian Grove to Georgia State, Brian Dowling at UMASS, Brent Oneal with 2 D 1 offers, Speedy Andrew Long has D 1 offers, BJ Knauf is going to Purdue, Caleb Muncrief is going to Tulsa, Dalton Crossan has an offer from Syracuse, Georgie Salem should wind up at UAB, Dylan Yazel will wind up at Arkansas State, Mitchell Cunningham will go somewhere, and speedy Brian Regan will wind up at an Ivy League school where his speed alonw will eventually make him a feature back. And there are some more that I will post later.

Yeah and a local FCS school laughed at the thought of bringing him in and it took convincing to get "preferred walk on status" from LA TECH, who actually have some fair coaches up there, giving Ray Holley a shot and now Lee, even though Ryan Moats didn't have to walk on, he got a scholarship.

I bet those FCS schools feel pretty stupid right about now. Stephen F Austin "Thanks for visiting, we don't have any scholarships left" (probably decided the moment he arrived on campus realizing he is a White runningback)

"It's good for everybody because I think it gives people a little bit of perspective," coach Sonny Dykes said. "So much is made out of recruiting and stars and who is recruiting a kid, and I think it goes to show that there's a lot of good players that kind of fall under the radar a little bit.

"He was a fantastic high school player, and we were lucky to get him to come here. ... If you look at his body of work this year, he's one of our best players because he does the right thing all the time."

Dykes said bringing Lee to Ruston came down to him and his staff's knowing who Lee was when no one else did.

"We knew his name — that was probably the biggest thing," the coach said. "We were nice to him, and nobody really knew who he was and was nice to him. We were sincere. I told him and his dad, 'I think you will play for us next year. You may think I'm lying, and you make think I'm crazy, but I think you will.'"

Dykes added: "I'm a bit of a throwback, in terms of I always go through statistics. I get on the computer sometimes and look at the statistics in Dallas or Houston. Wherever there's a lot of kids, I feel like kids get overlooked a little bit. ... I looked to see who was recruiting him, and nobody was. And so at that point I said, 'Well, we've got a chance to get a cheapy here.'"

Lee and transfer juniors D.J. Banks and Craig Johnson will all go on scholarship for the winter quarter, joining a recent tradition of walk-on success stories that include receiver Andrew Guillot and starting center Stephen Warner, a Ruston product.
