Here's a couple of articles about some talented high schoolers.
One is Josh Hembrough, one of top hurdlers in the country who also happens to be deaf. He will be competing this weeend at the Nike Meet of Champions, which is sort of like a national championship for HSers. According to this article he will be attending a major university next year. Not sure if he will be on a track scholarship or not.
In any event, a interesting article about a talented kid.

Also competing this weekend at the Nike Meet of Champions is the 4 x 400 relay team from West Des Moines Valley High School. They broke the state record in the relay, and have the 5th fastest time in the country. All 4 guys happen to be white. They all play football and one is going to Iowa State as a defensive back.

There is not one spot to mention this but this is as good as any just to use the post above as an example.. Don anyway posters can be convinced to list the names of the athletes that are part of a link? I bring this up because often it is easier for us to google the name rather than type in links as long as the Nile. Like the post above. Just a suggestion--it seems to happen the most with High school atheletes so half the time i don't know who the heck anybody is referring to despite all the effort by the poster to diligently list the link.

You should be able to copy and paste these into your browser, but I tried it myself and it didn't work.
I think the problem is that somehow a space gets added to the address where the link breaks to the 2nd line in the posting. If you delete that space in your browser, you will pull up the correct link. I did that and it worked.
The best thing would be if those posted links were made to be 'live', so that you could just click on them and be brought to the web page.
In the meantime, the name of the guys on the 4 x 400 are:
Bryan Collins, Zac Sandvig, Ryan Keairnes, and Brandon McSkimming.

You can do that. Press the "Hyperlink" button that's to the right of the "Underline" button. Paste the URL, press return, then do it again. So Google.com would look like this:

http://www.google.com/

Or if you want the link to say "Google," type in Google first, press return, and then paste the URL. So it would look like this:

Google

I hope that helps. It took me over a year to notice that button! I just never thought to look.

Genuine vanilla face? That's a new one. Maybe he should attend college in Chocolate City, LA.

Shane ran a 10.33 with +2.2m/s wind today at the JR. USA track championships. This was the 2nd fastest qualifing time. First ran a 10.30 and 3rd ran a 10.45. The final later today will essentially be a two man race between Shane and highy touted(black) Rynell Parson. It would be great to have America's fastest high schooler and fastest NCAA freshman be white guys. 10.33 is extremely impressive for high school.

Shane got 3rd in the finals in 10.38.
I think having to run the 2 fastest times of his life in the same day took a little out of him in the final.
Still, very impressive for a HSer.
Faster than Matt Bruno was, and close to Casey Combest's fastest time. I would venture to say (off the top of my head) that he's the 2nd fastest white HSer ever in the 100m.
