How Can Anyone Support MLB?

I gave up on being a major league baseball fan about five player strikes ago, but it still amazes me when I hear about the totally unreal money that these idiotic owners continue to throw around. How could any businessman pay over $50 million for the RIGHT to negotiate with some unproven Japanese player? Who would make such a ridiculous decision? The salary situation in MLB is now so ludicrous that I actually heard one of sports "journalism's" true jerks-Mike "Greenie" Greenberg-complaining about it on ESPN radio yesterday morning. When you hear about $10 million, $15 million, being given to players who have never been great and will never be great, it boggles the mind. Remember also, that every penny in MLB contracts is guaranteed. So, if this unproven Japanese player breaks his arm the day after signing his contract, and never is able to play at a major league level, he will still get the absurd amount of money the Red Sox throw at him (rumored to be upwards of $40 million).

I recently read online where the average American without a college degree can expect to earn $1.9 million in the course of his working lifetime. How can any working stiff struggle to make ends meet, and yet continue to support a "sport" that is run by arrogant, clueless billionaires who pay their arrogant "workers" guaranteed millions, no matter how they have performed in the past, or are performing presently? When you throw in the fact that the "sport" is overrun with broken-english speaking Gonzalezs, Martinezes and Rodriguezes, who can't bunt, have no conception of trying to get a base on balls, can't field, can't throw complete games and are completely lacking in fundamentals in general, our national pastime has become a total disgrace. Then factor in all the talking heads who are continually chanting the mantra that "there aren't enough blacks in the game," when all I see during the few minutes I can stomach watching it on TV are non-white players, and it's incomprehensible to me how any fan of traditional baseball can still love this "sport."

Another very good post, bigunreal!I was always a fan of Baseball, and now I feel as you do.The global elite will never cease trying to destroy the White race. How best to do that?,take away all White customs and traditions.Baseball "was' America's pastime,it is now almost unrecognizable, much the same as so many American cities.
We have watched the deconstruction of the Anaheim Angels,Oakland A's,Houston Astros are headed in that direction,as are the Toronto Blue Jays, and Colorado Rockies.
It is as if they are saying,"What ever you have built,White man,we will tear down"!
As always, our own are not guilt free.I have seen White fans wear sombreros to the games to cheer their mexican heros on,as more and more mexican flags are waved in American stadiums, and White baseball players are eliminated.

The salaries made by corporate robber barons these days seem reasonable compared to theobscene contracts being givento mediocre baseball players.

How did MLB become awash with so much money? Television ratings are terrible and have been declining for decades, and the very integrity of the game and its statistics is now a joke after the prolonged "steroids era." The interest of American kids in baseball has been on the decline for a long time, and only the die-hard fan can sit and watch an entire game on the boob tube.

Yet MLB is booming financially, based on record attendance and ever increasing television contracts.

Attendance has increased in large part because businesses of all sizes buy season tickets, and then give them away to clients, prospective clients, employees, etc., the cost of which is a write-off. This phenomenon has also been seen in the NBA, and to some degree in the NHL. It wasn't that many years ago when crowds of well less than 10,000 were fairly common in baseball and basketball. Thanks to the corporate buying of ticket packages those days are gone. Obviously there are still fans who buy season tickets, but the cost is prohibitive for most.

MLB also reports the number of tickets sold (and given away) as the "attendance" for a game, not the actual number of people who attend.Record attendance is trumpeted as evidence of baseball being more popular than ever when every other indicator among the public shows the opposite trend.

I believe that MLB is propped up to a large degree by a beneficialarrangement between corporate entitites. The amount of money each team gets for broadcast rights continues to grow exponentially despite the relative unpopularity of baseball as measured by television and radio ratings and by participation by the young. It's understandable why NFL teams rake in the huge amounts of money they do from the national networks, but MLB teams?

The networks shell out the money because they, in theory at least, get that investment back and more through advertising dollars.

And despite the low ratings, there never seems to be any trouble selling advertising. And there's the rub. In theory, corporations buy advertising for regular season games for the right to advertise during the playoffs and World Series, but the ratings for the post-season aren't very strong either.

Advertising is oftenmerely another type of businessexpense, the cost of building a brand name and product recognition. Corporations pay exorbitant amounts of money to advertise during sports events not because they expect to instantly recoup that cost in sales, but as part of a prolonged campaign of building an image in the public mind.

When I look at baseball, I see acorporate synchronicity at work. Corporations shell out large amounts of money to buy teams, season tickets, have stadium naming rights, and to buy advertising of various kinds. The money spent on media advertising enablesthe networks to keep paying MLB larger and larger amounts of money, which keeps the teams, even the "small market" ones, flush financially. And of course those same networks also act as a free PR arm of MLB.

Despite the ever dwindling number of black American players, baseball is a media and corporate favorite because it's striving very hard to replace white American players with non-white ones from Latin America and Asia. As long as MLB is in tune with the globalization goals of the rest of the ruling class it will be propped up and presented as a major sport.

Hockey on the other hand has also successfully "globalized," but only with white players, thus its demotion in recent years to the status of a "minor" sport, even though NHL teams draw approximately as well as NBA teams when both are in the same market.

The NBA is also "globalizing," but will only do so to a certain point, in order to keep an artificial black domination in place.

The same corporate dynamics are at work in the NBA as with MLB. It's most obvious in the long-time subsidizing of the WNBA, which is kept alive only by NBA money and media coverage way out of proportion to what little interest there is in the league.

Major sportsplay a very importantpartin the overall agenda ofacountry involuntarily being methodically transformed into a multicultural imperial empirein which deracinated whites are to remain an integralpart of the executive and administrative class, but to have little influence elsewhere as their numbers rapidly decline through massive Third World immigration and intermarriage.

The good news is that there are many signs that America's tragic Age of Empireis rapidly headingthe way of that of every other empire in world history.

Great post Don!

There is so much money in baseball it is hard to comprehend. Here in NJ, we have seven Minor League teams and they all do very well. The local H.S. teams rent out the stadiums for some of the big regular season games and some playoff games. The stadiums get great crowds for these games and I think I know why.

I went to one of these games last season between a top Prep school and their public school rival. The atmosphere was fantastic. The crowd was 99.9% white as was the players and coaches. The music that was played was all white music. A combination of 60's rock and country music with absolutely no rap or hip hop. In a state bursting with minorities and their culture everywhere in Jersey, a good Minor League or H.S. game is a refreshing return to the good ole days.

Despite what we see on TV, baseball in this country is virtually an all white sport. My son is currently going through the process of working his way up the baseball ladder. He's a senior in H.S. now and will be attending a Division I school next fall on scholarship for baseball. This past summer and fall he played on a team that traveled all over the country playing in the biggest tournaments around. These kids are all trying to be recruited by Colleges. The biggest tournament was in October in Jupiter Fl. There were over 600 college and pro scouts in attendance. Almost all of the top 1000 H.S. players in the country were there and almost all of them are white. The colleges have almost all white rosters. Even black colleges have whites on their baseball teams.

Even the pro games have a lot of white players and the atmosphere is still white friendly.

The bottom line is: From top to bottom, whites still support baseball and have baseball as a sanctuary they can go to as an escape from the third world reality that is the U.S.A.

GWTJ,a solid post from you also sir!,

I wish your son the best of luck!My son is now 38 years of age,and went the same route that your son is on right now.Awards and batting championships at every level, and a division 1 scholarship and fine career at Youngstown State.
At 6ft2 225 lbs, with power, playing 1st base and center field,I was told by many scouts,"he is a can't miss",and is capable of playing at the AA level at signing!

Well the caste system had different ideas!

I say none of the above to build up my sons talents,or discourage you or you son.I was not aware of the caste system back then, but I sure am now!

Great points, Don. I too am puzzled by the amount of money MLB has to throw around. As a long time youth sports coach, I've witnessed the lack of interest in baseball among youngsters. In my area of the country, soccer is more popular with kids. That goes for adults, as well. I really don't know any hardcore baseball fans.

So true! The fall of Rome all over again. There has never been a multi-racail nation of power. The Chinese know this and will be the next big power. Hopefully, European nations will unite under one "nation." However, with the many different European "tribes" that all have different languages, customs, history that will be unlikely in the near future.

People have been telling me for years baseball will die out---no way I said. Even when the majors went through an attendence slump and strike(s) the minors were setting records. The minor leagues continue to boom like crazy just setting a new record. One hidden secret weapon that baseball has that no other sport can hold a candle to is the "bring the family" aspect of it. Young children love going to baseball games and more than any other sport it is far and away the most family friendly. So from where I stand baseball will never die as far as I can tell.

There is a ray of hope--

Blacks are not playing baseball. Sure, you have the Dominican kids who play it all year; however, the black percentage is decreasing at a pretty good rate. You don't see them playing (at young ages) at all.

With salaries increasing like hell, eventually MLB teams will have to cut expenses. The first place they will cut will be in foreign scouting, i.e. the Dominican Republic.

Look how many starting pitchers are white. It's the vast majority of them. There is hope.

If you strip the sports down to the bare essense baseball wins out. Football is bouyed by gambling and that is the dirty little secret. Not being a fan of gambling or casinos that basically swallow up money that communities don't get back I have felt the media has given the NFL a pass on this subject. Take the gambling aspect out of football and the popularity would slide. The fact remains that baseball is our sport. Basketball and hockey are exciting and fun but they have never penetrated as deep as baseball. Soccer and tennis are the most popular international sports. Baseball and basketball and hockey in certain areas also enjoy international prestige.
But from an American perspective baseball is our biggest sport despite what the TV numbers --NFL numbers suggest.

Look at all the "mega-dollars" is being given to mediocre talent this year. The free-agent market is way over inflated. The Cubs signed Ted Lily for 40 million and Lily is proven, yeah, he's proven that he sucks! The only reason Matsuzaka made over 50 million is because every team in the league is looking for pitching - that and his agent was fan-freaking-tastic! lol

Nothing like the Jason Marquis and Gary Matthews contracts through. Those two are much worse than what Gil Meche got. At least he still has an upside.

5yrs/50 Mil for a Black Legacy kid with one above average season and the rest as a benchwarmer. Makes almost wish I was black.

3yrs/21 Million for Marquis with an ERA near 7. Let's just say his "common bond" with Larry Rothchild might of helped him. The 2007 Cubs will be as big a bust as the 1992 New York Mets. Would feel sorry for Sweet Lou but like Bill Parcells in football his teams have never been that white.

Random Thoughts

As for the statement in the lack of interest in Baseball, part of the reason is the cancelization of little league programs in suburban towns because "little Joshua" got hit in the head playing baseball. The courts are filled with lawsuits and PTA's are pushing a feminized version of Soccer down our youth's throats. You want to solve that, BAN ALUMINUM BATS. If training with Wood bats was good enough Ty Cobb it's good enough for this generation. Although it would be interesting to see a game in Coors Field with Alumimum.

I don't like the way Bud is trying to get rid of steroids in baseball. The drug testing isn't good enough, and the whole about using the humididor in all 30 parks this years is questioning. Sure I want lower offense, but Bud will credit his steroid policy for the drop off. Nice try but not fooling me. Steroids don't bother me as much though guys have been taking whatever they could get their hands on since the days of Horse Racing. Steroids won't make you a better player, just hit it farther. If you don't have proper hitting mechanics it doesn't matter what you take you will still suck.

If you have to globalize the sport couldn't MLB help set up academies in Austraila(Speed), Italy(Power), and Holland(Pitching) to get talent. The sports are growing quickly there.

The topic thread is how can anyone support MLB? Good question ... instead of me waxing poetic on the greatness of baseball, let me direct you to this link to MSNBC. Mike Celizic wrote a column about spring training that pretty much sums everything I think about the great game of baseball. It takes a few minutes to read but if you're a baseball fan, I think you'd like it:

My only problem whith baseball is the saem problem with every other activity at which white males excel. Baseball feels obligated to apologize for being an activity at which white males excel.

Celzic writes:

"Think of all the times that a baseball game saved you. You can follow a baseball game almost anywhere. Anyone who's driven into a long summer's night knows the joy of finding a ballgame on a distant AM station and straining through the static to follow the narrative while the miles roll by."

There are fewer high power AM stations to do that on anymore. Last year the Cardinals switched their flagship from KMOX to IIRC an FM station. This year the Pirates, Twins and Orioles are doing the same thing.

It's all about money my friends. It wouldn't surprise me if radio was only available on sateillite or MLB.com. MLB is the only league to charge to listen to a team's games on the radio. Now they are trying to pull some nonsense with Direct TV. They figure it will be easier to globalize the game this way, but if you ignore your core people will cease to care.

Outstanding thread/discussion! I don't/won't shell out money any more for tickets or merchandising. Although I stopped watching the Yo-BA years ago, I'll still watch a Braves game (1-2 times a season) if it's on basic cable. However, there's no way I'll help directly subsidize the bloated salaries of these primadonna millionaires & the Billionaire team owners who foster the caste system.

I'm sure everyone in here will be watching "Civil Rights" game today right? They'll probably have all minority lineups and talk about LaRussa's white privledge.
