Ricky Hatton, is very much a done deal for May 2nd next year in Las Vegas. The paper states that "Pac-Man" will fight "The Hitman" on May 2nd at either The MGM Grand or The Thomas and Mack Centre, and that both boxers and their managements will finalise the details before Christmas. The news article also states how Hatton will begin training for the mega-fight on February the 1st, after he has enjoyed his traditional family cruise.<A name=more18259></A>.<BR itxtvisited="1"><BR itxtvisited="1">This is great news, of course. Not only are Pacquiao and Hatton two absolutely huge names, they are also both coming off great showings; Pacquaio against De La Hoya and before that Hatton against Malignaggi. The Filipino is almost universally looked at as the best fighter on the planet, pound-for-pound, while the Manchester warrior is recognised as the best in the world at 140 pounds. Now the two will meet at light-welterweight and fans all over the world will be tuning in to see who prevails.<BR itxtvisited="1"><BR itxtvisited="1">Hatton told the paper how he has wanted this fight for some time.<BR itxtvisited="1"><BR itxtvisited="1">"Manny has been at the very top of my radar since he beat Oscar De La Hoya," Ricky said. "I went in with the best fighter in the world in 2007 when I lost to Floyd Mayweather Junior and I will do the same when I get in the ring with Manny. Every boxer wants to prove himself against the very best and that is what I have done again and again."<BR itxtvisited="1"><BR itxtvisited="1">Naturally, Hatton feels he will do better against the current P-4-P king than he did against the man who formerly held the mythical crown. And with the match taking place at Hatton's natural weight of 140, as opposed to the 147 he met "Money" at, Hatton's loyal followers feel their hero has a great chance of winning. Interestingly, though he has conquered at lightweight and welterweight, the just turned 30-year-old southpaw has never boxed a 140-pound rival before. There is no reason to believe Manny will have any problems fighting as a light-welter, but Hatton may think he has a slight advantage having boxed most of his career in the weight class.<BR itxtvisited="1"><BR itxtvisited="1">One thing is for sure; this fight will not be boring. Hatton looked perhaps better than ever in stopping Malignaggi in November, and Pacquiao shocked the world with his blazing fists and sheer energy and explosiveness when doing the same to De La Hoya. Both guys became the first to force their respective opponents to be pulled out of a fight, and as such both Pacquiao and Hatton received much praise.<BR itxtvisited="1"><BR itxtvisited="1">If either of the two popular fighters manages to emerge with a stoppage win in May, the praise they get will be even bigger. Camps can't agree on purse split

The camps of Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton have both rejected a compromise on the purse split of their proposed May 2 super fight. The Pacquiao camp demanded a 60-40 split, while the Hatton camp insisted on 50-50. Attempts to salvage the fight with 52-48 and 55-45 splits failed and now both camps say they are pursuing other options after Pacquiao missed a signing deadline today. Hatton promoter Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy ripped into the Pacman, telling the LA Times "Frankly, I'm disgusted at the behavior of Manny Pacquiao. He's a spoiled young kid who doesn't know how to behave." Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum, who had offered Pacquiao a huge $11 million guarantee, called Pacquiao's rejection of a purse surpassing that of his fight against De La Hoya "bizarre."

Yes I read this in the paper today. It seems Pacman is being extremely greedy and according to Bob Arum the fight is off. Hatton is supposedly looking for a new opponent for that night. Pacman could also be ducking Hatton.

I'm starting to wonder if people are whispering in Pacman's ear about his worth to boxing promoters. He did the same thing against Oscar. It's either that or he has a counter offer to fight Mayweather for even more money. It wouldn't surprise me as Mayweather has been rumoured to be 7 figures in debt to the IRS and needs to revive his career.

Yeah, Mosely wants a piece of the good cheese that Pacman and Hatton represent. However, If I am them, I tell Shane to come down to 140 lbs, cause based on his demolition of Margo, he is almost unbeatable at 147 lbs.

If Shane was matched with either, he would be the heavy betting favorite and Pacman or Hatton would have to pray Shane turned old in the next six months. Bottom line, I would steer clear of Mosely right now. Hatton nor Pacman have the size nor power to contend with Shane at this moment.

Regardless of who the winner of this fight will be, it will be a fight to watch. I'm glad they agreed to have the match on. Pacman I think, stands a better chance against Mosley.

It depends. If Hatton lays a ass whipping on Pacman, there will be little argument. However, if Hatton struggles like he did against Luis Callizo, then you will have many including myself saying that Hatton doesn't deserve to be the PFP fighter.

It should be an interesting fight. Hatton surely has the goods to beat Pacman, but if Pacman continues to improve in a astonishing way with recent fights, Ricky is going to have his hands full.

One thing is for sure, I will love hearing the Ricky Hatton song during the weeks leading up to the fight.

Well I think Callazo was the stronger man. Hatton is stronger than Pacman. He could dominate this fight. I just hope it doesn't go the way the Mayweather and Hatton fight did.

I frequent Youtube quite a bit. If you go to any fight videos of white fighters you will see constant attacks at them. The Klitschko are called the Klitschko sisters. Calzaghe is mocked that he only fought Jones and Hopkins way past their primes. Kessler is called a fraud and that he never beat anyone good. Pavlik is laughed at that he lost to a 44 year old Hopkins. Finally these clowns laugh that there are no whites in the pound for pound listings though some have Hatton in it. These are all wiggers saying these things. I really am getting sick of it.

What this shows us is that the Jews and powers to be have done an excellent job of brainwashing millions of people and are continuing to do so. I was upset during Vitali's last fight with Atlas continually degrading him. You can be sure if it was David Haye or Jason Estrada in the ring Atlas would have nothing but praise for them.

Even with "bruva" after "bruva" getting knocked out by superior white fighters our guys can't get respect. Even when Klitschko beats Haye there will be excuses. I just can't wait to see what excuse they come up with next.Will Haye come into the fight out of shape? Will Klitschko some how "cheat" his way to a win. I just rewatched the Hopkins vs Calzaghe, its obvious he won, he figured Hopkins out after a few rounds and landed the most punches on Hopkins than any other boxer in history, over 250 i believe, the closest to that was Roy Jones with 206. Nearly landing twice as many punches on Hopkins doesnt equate to a win?

And i watched the Klitschko vs Lewis fight. Constant excuses throughout the fight for Lewis "he didnt come in shape" Vitali was ahead on the scorecards and Lewis was arrogant and said "i wouldve knocked im out in a few rounds" and he kept saying "look at his face and look at mine"

I definetly believe Lewis had something in the lacing of his gloves, because when the cuts happened it was when the laces of the gloves grazed Vitali's face. Yes he cut his face but Lewis got rocked quite a few times. I didnt see Vitali get rocked by any punches. And of course Lewis refused a rematch. If a White fighter would have retired that way his reputation would be tarnished.

Atlas needs to retire, he cant give the best heavyweight boxers in the division any respect. I had to turn my volume down on that last fight it made me so mad.

all in all, i want Hatton to win, but Calzaghe should be considered the best pound for pound boxer.Edited by: dwid
