Harrison Ford has officially signed on for the upcoming Jackie Robinson biopic, Legendary Pictures announced Friday.
As reported by TheWrap on Thursday, Ford will play Branch Rickey, the Major League Baseball executive who helped break baseball's color barrier by signing Robinson to a minor league in 1945, and helped Robinson sign to the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947, making him the first African-American player in the MLB.

Ford's half Tribesman, so no surprise to hear he's selling the myth of (overhyped, grossly overrated) Robinson.

Harrison Ford isn't the chattiest celebrity working the press circuit. Never has been. This reporter once met Ford at a White House Correspondents Dinner party and asked him three questions--Ford responded with three one-word answers.
Pepper him with questions about social issues, though, and the man known to millions as Han Solo and/or Indiana Jones gets downright gabby.
Ford, who once had his chest waxed to raise awareness of rainforest issues, told a reporter quizzing him about his new film 42 that Jackie Robinson's role in breaking baseball's color barrier reminds him of the current same-sex marriage argument
Do you see any parallels between Jackie Robinson’s struggle for racial acceptance and the current battle for marriage equality?
I think there’s a metaphor you can reach for, according to your own interests and your own understanding and your own issues. But trying to create the best expression of the ideals — the most equal society, the best-regulated society, the best-behaving society — depend on attending to equality and inequity whenever it rears its ugly head. Certainly the marriage issue conveniently falls into that category. Ford sees no issue with being so unequal to his movie-going public that he can use a private plane to grab a cheeseburger when the urge arises.

We've discussed this movie quite a bit in main baseball thread the last few days. It might be a good idea if Don (or one of the mods) could transfer those posts to this thread?
