Hamilton Tiger-Cats :

The one and only Jesse Lumsden (McMaster), is hurt right now, but still leads the league on YPC with 627 yards on 74 carries (9 yards / carry)

FB Jeff Piercy(Saskatchewan) was traded to Hamilton for QB Jason Maas. Piercy is a servicable back, he's a little light for a FB. He still average above 4 yards per carry when he gets to run the ball.

WR Brock Ralph(Wyoming) . The older Ralph is looking at a career year playing for the bottow dwelling Ti-Cats. Blessed with great hands and agility, Brock is the best deep threat of his team. He's currently ranking 11th in receiving yards.

WR Chris Bauman(Regina) The rookie first overall pick in 07 is making a strong case for ROY honor in the CFL. He was a favorite of Maas, Let's see how new QB Casey Printers use him. He should go to him as often as possible because the 6'4 receivers got huge sticky hands.

other white ti-cats are : S Sandy Beveridge(U of British Columbia), OL Cedric Gagne-Marcoux(UCF), DB Phillip Gauthier(Laval), DT J.P Bekasiak(Toledo), DT Roger Dunbrack(Western Ontario), K Nick Setta(Notre Dame), OL Pascal Cheron(Laval) , OL Ryan Donnelly(McMaster), OL George Husdon (New Mexico State), OL Peter Dyakowski (LSU), OL Marwan Hage (Colorado)

The Ti-Cats have the best young talent in the league and also probably the best whites.

cool, thanks. i guess he doesn't have a shot at rushing title this year

What is the story with richie williams and the QB Situation?

well, there is no story. Richie is playing really well for them, but they just paid Printers to a 4 year contract for 1 or 2 millions, he hurt his hammy yesterday. Printers is the starters as soon as he is healthy

This is great news about Tre! I just hope the Tiger-Cats will use him. I think he would make a really good RB/PR for them.

Well obviously the Cats have Jesse Lumsden as their #1 TB, and Terry Caulley was expected to be his backup. Caulley will probably be Tre's competition.

As for PR, he'll be battling Jason Armstead for his job, who is a good returner in his own right.

How much sweeter would a white 1-2 punch at RB be? I really do think Tre could do great things if given a chance.

That would be crazy good. Surely it would never be allowed to happen. Imagine how many heads would turn, especially if it worked for them.

Too bad Tre never got a shot at the NFL. I thought he could make a roster for sure. Guess he wasn't to the Brown's liking.

Incumbent kick returner Jason Armstead released.

Notice the misprint in Tre's stats synopsis from CFL.com

"Smith, a 5-11, 195-pound native of Venice, Florida played five years (2002-06) at Auburn, where he carried the ball "96 times" for 1,091 yards and 13 touchdowns while adding 27 receptions for 267 yards and three touchdowns. Smith also returned 19 kickoffs for 301 yards as well as 72 punts for 621 yards - the fourth most in Auburn history."

It should have read carried the ball 196 times for 1,023 yards. Still though, thats a 5.2 career YPC and better than Kenny Irons did in his time at Auburn. Irons was handed the starting job as a transfer despite not showing he was better than Tre! In fact Tre had a better high school resume also and was ranked 22nd in Tom Lemming's top 25 RBs. Kenny Irons was not on Lemming's top 25 list! Even "white extinction Rivals.com" only ranked Irons 3 spots ahead of Tre. Tre was ranked 21st and Irons was ranked 18th by Rivals.

Tre Smith scores TD in pre-season game :

"The flash that just turned the corner and bolted for daylight was running back Tre Smith. Once he gets to the edge his speed makes him a danger to any defence. He was responsible for the lone Ticats touchdown, leaping from the six-yard line and almost appearing as if he was slam-dunking the ball over the Winnipeg defender as he crossed the goal line in the air."

Who is the Black rb? An American?

yup, Terry Caulley is the back-up. He did well last year when Lumsden went down with his injury. He's a smallish back though. Former UConn player.

Tre will have to do his apprenticeship for a year or two or until Caulley moves on. Just the way it is, there is a caste system in the CFL too although weaker for sure. I think Tre will prove to be the better player in a couple years and will eventually get his chance if he sticks around in the CFL, but he probably won't get much time this year unless he plays like Barry Sanders, which is near impossible. I'd love to see a one two punch of Lumsden (Power Back) Tre Smith (Scat Back), that would be an elite backfield even in the NFL!

Of course if Tre "clearly" proves in limited time that he "is without a doubt better than Caulley" he could pass him, but that won't be easy in limited time.

If anyone wants to see Tre Smith's 60-yard return they can watch it here.

You can also view Tre Smith's preseason touchdown in this highlight pack.
