ok guys its quite..lets review what good has gone on this year in relation to the " pale power houses" :icon_smile:eek:f athletics..lets get the ball rollin.....real credit has to be given to german sprinters keller and reus for new pbs 10.07 and 10.08 and both clean...!!!......also richard kilty new pb of 10.10 ..i predict an interesting season for him next year..also along with hari is a young brit called tom summers who i believe has a big future definitely in the 200... also a young bulgarian called petrov over 60 /100 meters..... i think wariner will make a serious comeback next season ,,if he remains fairly niggle free.....also david gillick over 400.. i think michael tumi will challenge for the world indoor 60 meter title ( remember papadias in 97 )....also brandon byram was excellent this year with a new pr of 20.20 and had his hamstring stayed intact he would have medalled in the usatfs ..(remember kevin little in 97)...also a big break through for the brit andrew robertson over 100 in 10.14 at the brit c/ships ...i reckon robertson will have a serious indoor season over 60 metrs this winter..including greg cackett....not forgetting shane crawford who made a 60meter usatf final last winter......yep you people got it there is alot of " pale" sprint talent around:thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb:.....didnt even get started on the sprint hurdlers or the ladiesxxxxx
 
also ... a confident C. LEMAITRE.. will take some scalps this year..( caveat ) he has to do an indoor season ... the master is one of the most naturally gifted sprinters ever .!!!!..:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:.not since bobby morrow has a sprinter combined power with fluidity and finesse..!!!.......................... lets hope WADA keeps pushing and "mole" out further drug cheats... ................................................................ note also the break through of the ukrainian serhiy smelyk over 200..and his compatriot brednev but to a slightly lesser extent ...although i reckon brednev could do something over 60 meters this winter..hhhmmmm..
 
also an interesting young talent is a young 19 yr old scot.. tom holligan ..from 60 to 200 in and outdoor ..build for power but has good 200 ability ..still carrying excess weight ....already at 6.9 due for r/v this winter ..10.5 outdoor +wind.....but interestingly an indoor 200 of 21.5...remember this guy is only 19 and has been doing last year "basically way too heavy for track"......so he needs to loose a few pounds ..not sure whose coaching him ..has alredy competed internationally for scotland and gb underb 20s.....
 
Good thread grey ghost. Yes even though the indoor season hasn't started yet, I am still excited. If you go back and look at last years top european juniors and european youth list you will see many new names. Even names we haven't touched on. I have talked in depth about
Kristoffer Hari who I believe has those once in a lifetime gentics. He will continue to break though in 2014 but man other guys from all across
europe are going to start to become household names too. Lemaitre made his breakthough around 4-5 years ago and we are just starting to
see a the start of a wave of new and exciting young euro sprinters. We need to see many of these guys have break out seasons and I'm
sure we will.

I too predict that Christophe will be back in a huge way in 2014. One name I'm waiting for is for the return of the "Rocket" Ramil Guliyev. Never have I see someone with so much talent be wasted. It has been 3-4 years now since we saw him on a regular basis. Guliyev needs
to get back into top form. I hope he is back to normal and that he finally goes and hires a proper coach. He badly needs to refine his
technique. The talent is there for sure!

I would love to see some of the Australian Sprinters rise back into the picture as well. Some of the guys look very promising and because of their youth and in experience they just need more time to build a strong base. I would love to see Matt Shirvingtoin get involved more in coaching to inspire more of the Aussie youth. I still miss see Shirvo run. He was special.
 
Kilty is coming along nicely. It also seems his popularity among the British athletics fanbase is increasing. He's gained 15,000 twitter followers since the last time I saw.

Sometimes I wonder if white American sprinters would return if professional athletics had the support it does abroad, particularly in western Europe and the Caribbean. There has not been a consistent white American 1-200m sprinter since Kevin Little. When the few prominent track athletes in America are all black, it has an effect on youth participation.

Outside of the sprint events, look for more white dominance in the decathlon. Young Gunnar Nixon will be in his second pro season and looks to emerge as one of the world's elite. In the 110 hurdles, Sergey Shubenkov has emerged as among the world's elite. Konstantin Shabanov is also a young Russian on the rise. I'm expecting some good times from the youngster Lawrence Clarke as well as his British teammate Andy Turner, who should be fueled by his recent fund cutting from British athletics. Lehann Fourie should also hopefully put up some good times. Anyone know where Barrett Nugent is?
 
hi white lightning ..and vanilla sky.. agree with both you lads...hari is a special special prodigy... i heard or read some where that gunnar nixon has serious 400 meter abilty ..makes sense after seeing him in moscow..basically looking forward to indoor season....also did yee know that german 1oo meter champ of 1989 a man called wolfgang haupt beat ben johnson in open competition in germany 1990..haupt went on to bobsled for germany ..this guy became the protype for ex international sprinters entering 4 man bob sled..alot of new literature out on the cross over factors..google stuart mcmillan ..or speedendurance.com....also a nice pic of haupt beating johnson on google images..:grin::eyebrows:..enjoy........also looking forward to seeing sakalauskas back in action and as you so eloquently put it the "rocket ramil"..:wave:

Awesome to hear Nugent is still in the game. Agreed in regards to strength training. When he was running in college, I remember him being one of the least physically developed top-level hurdlers I've seen, even more surprising considering he's an LSU product. He doesn't need a David Oliver build, but some lifting would definitely help his times.

I do believe Nixon has run a very low 46, if I am right. However, he is the future of the decathlon and I doubt we seem him much in the 400. An appearance at a Diamond League meet in the 400 would be nice, though.
 
you speak the truth vanilla....nixon will be a record breaker in the decathlon....just wondering about shane crawford , hope he makes it back this winter ....and does any one know how dario horvat is getting on ..and indeed other college prospects stateside...:pray2:

forgot about the 100 m aussie sprinter marsh until recently looking through footage on youtube 1995 worlds .. this guy had a big future in front of him til he got ravaged by injury ...i think it was 1993 that he took some big scalps in open meets.. had pb 0f 10.13 that he most definitely would have improved upon had injuries not ruined his career. he also was a talented 200 meter guy ..that was the worlds that an all white 4 by 100 team got silver in the worlds ...:thumb:..go to youtube and type in andrey yepishin ..scroll down .etc.....damian marsh a forgotten goodie!!!!:tea:
