Golf Digest's new issue ranks the top 225 jocks as golfers. I didn't go through the whole list, but of the top 75 just 8 are black, or just over 10 percent.

The article goes into the whole "does golf require athleticism" argument, citing (of course) Tiger Woods as evidence that golfers can indeed be athletes.

A 2004 study by ESPN ranks golf 51st out of 60 sports when it comes to athletic demands. Two things stick out to me -- first of all, since blacks are widely acclaimed to be the world's greatest athletes, they should effortlessly dominate an "easy" sport like golf. But such is not the case at all, despite the fact that many black professional athletes, retired and still playing, love to play golf.

The second thing is the "ten degrees of athleticism" used by ESPN to rank sports. They are: "endurance, strength, power, speed, agility, flexibility, nerve, durability, hand-eye coordination and analytic aptitude."

Looking at it objectively, in how many of those ten "degrees" do blacks have an advantage over whites on average? Speed is the only one that stands out, and even there the black advantage on average is greatly exaggerated(and is also mitigated by the far greater number of white athletes than black ones in the U.S.)Caste System proponents wouldalso argue for a black advantage in agility and flexibility, and probably for all the others as well.

But endurance, strength and power are overwhelmingly white dominated in sports where they are the key elements (weightlifting, strongman, wrestling, long distance running other than Kenyans), as is hand-eye coordination -- the most important of all forms of athletic abilityin many sports in my opinion --and so is "analytic aptitude" (a fancy term for intelligence).

Durability is similar to endurance, and "nerve" is a rather nebulous category, but certainly when it comes to courage on the field of play, whether in willingness to take a hit, sacrifice one's body or play injured, no one puts it on the line like whites do.

When it comes to flexibility and agility, look at white-ruled sports like gymnastics, ice skating, skiing, swimming and others, where such qualities are paramount.

At best, blacks have one advantage (speed), and are possibly roughly equal in two others (flexibility and agility). Whites have the advantage in the other seven.

Golf is a sport that requires athleticism, no matter whether one is an Olympian when it comes to fitness, or overweight and otherwise sedentary, because it requires excellent hand-eye coordination toexcel at it. Even in the sports socially engineered to be artificially black or non-white dominated (football, basketball and baseball), whites still dominate in the areas that require the most hand-eye coordination (shooting, throwing, catching-receiving, pitching), the only exception being batting in baseball, but even there whites hold their own.

Seems like the caste sports journalists have themselves a quandary.

Tiger Woods is 'obviously' an athlete, ergo golf MUST require at least some athletic prowess. Yet, barely 10% of the uber-athletic rank among the top 75 golfer-athletes. They can't deny that golf is a sport that requires athleticism, otherwise their hero St. Woods will be denied his worship; yet, they can't proclaim golf a 'true' sport for athletes when only one black man excels at it, and only eight of the top 75 athletes who play golf are black.
