we don't confide here about our athletics pursuits (if any) so I'll start in case anyone wants to follow.
This year I'm putting more effort into hammer and weight throws. I found out last season when I first tried it I can muscle my age weight hammer out to around 30m (100 feet) with just circling the hammer around my head twice/three times without yet being able to rotate my body in the circle. So that is a goal this year.
That will asist in throwing the weight too, also started dabbling last season, where I'm stuck on about 12.5m (40 feet).

Shot work is going well at around 12 metres too - Doug Torbert (U.S.) is the WR holder in my age group and his 15+ metres is well out of my reach. He has too much technical ability and has done it since college.

Discus should be consistently around 35m ( 115 feet) but consistency is hard to achieve.
I don't sprint or jump these days but the big throwers aren't around anymore at my age - knee and hip problems and overweight so, critically, their speed and stability has disappeared. Fortunately I have none of those issues

Are you doing stuff still Sprintstar?

19 years on this forum come next Monday for me - sometimes it seems like yesterday.
No-one had heard of Usain Bolt and Matt Shirvington was still trying to break that elusive 10 second barrier lol.

Those are all fantastic Mastermulti. Congrats on making it almost 20 years here. High praise indeed. Your a very valued member
here as well as many of us consider you a friend. LIke the saying goes, "A Body in Motion stays in Motion, A Body at Rest stays at Rest".
We get old because we sit and lay around too much. Diet, not enough water, sunshine or excercise. All of these things can make the
golden years more enjoyable. :)

I have'n't sprinted in quite a few years but I did win a silver medal in my last race in the 100 meters for the sub masters division. I really
should get running again but ever since I had a hernia surgery I have stuck to walking, lifting & bike riding. Some basketball and tennis too.
Oh to be young again and run like the wind! We can dream can't we?

2024 I made my 50 mile bike goal twice, this year even at my 60+ years to make that a common occurrence and live to tell about it.

My goal for 2025 is to compete in a few indoor meets in the shotput, then transition to outdoor season. I got a little lazy these past few years and need to lose 15lbs to start building my conditioning for the outdoor season where I hope to compete in the 50m(seniors) and beat my 7.97pb. If all goes well I will also do the 100m in a few masters meets along with shot, discus and Javelin. If I can run sub 13.90 in the 100m I'll be happy. I am 65 years 5'9' 190lbs, target weight is 175lbs or lower.

that's all great to read, guys. Maybe we can post on this thread occasionally about how we're doing?
It's good to encourage each other (especially as this world of ours becomes less predictable by the day) - and women are much better at it than we are.
My first comp for 2025 starts next coming Friday and Saturday. I would love to get my 70-74 years 2023 Oceania "numero uno" Shot Put rating back this year after injuries hampered me in late '23 and 2024
I'm 180cms (5'11") and 83kgs (183lbs) with just a few more kgs to gradually take off.
180cms and 180lbs are nice round numbers - even if one is imperial and one metric
