Okay, they sucked me back into watching this stuff with Reddick, Morrison and West Virginia. I had sworn off watching this March Madness nonsense for a long time, until last year when I did catch parts of some games, mainly due to my son's urging. Last night's Duke game was the first nearly complete college game I've watched in many years. Folks, I don't care if these things are fixed by someone, or if white players just do choke. Either way, it's the same result- black players win, white players lose. It's as simple as that. It may be planned, or it may just be that even the best white players have been intimidated to such an extent that they just can't perform when the pressure is on. J.J. Reddick is a great kid, and he was indeed hacked and banged all night by the unknown black defender who blanketed him. Still, he allowed himself to be blanketed by some run-of-the-mill black opponent. That's ridiculous! No black star would ever be blanketed by an unknown defender (and certainly not a white one). On the few occasions he drove to the basket, he took the typical white, "chicken-out" way, stopping short of jamming it home, and trying a lame jumper or attemtping to dish it off to a teammate. Yes, the guy "guarding" him probably committed 30 fouls at least. However, the reality is that black players are allowed to play "aggressive" (in other words, illegal "street ball" defense), while white players must abide by the rules. Reddick should know this by now. As someone else noted on another thread, his horrible performance will undoubtedly please his many, many detractors, and also probably cost him several slots in the NBA draft. As for Morrison, I feel really, really bad for him. This kid is such a great story, and it should break the heart of every true sports fan to see him end up crying on his knees at the end of the UCLA game. That's a picture that will be etched into the minds of many impressionable whites (and blacks) for a long time; the great white hope down and crying in defeat, as the happy, victorious blacks jump up and down in celebration. Have we ever seen the reverse scenario over the past quarter century? Again, I don't know whether or not the game was fixed, but the result was what those in Don King's America would have wanted. It also mirrored the kind of results that this "madness" has produced now for a few decades. But the way these three teams lost last night is what makes it so hard to take. West Virginia fighting back valiantly, only to lose on a shot with less than a second left. Gonzaga blowing a lead that should have been impossible to blow. Finally, Duke losing to an all black team of horrendous shooters, led by a chubby, junior Shaq with a typically absurd pet nickname ("Big Baby"- what is that?) I'm sure that all the white fans and jock-sniffing "journalists" are very, very happy.
