Well i guess im one of castefootballs few european members. I play for the Bonn Gamecocks. O Tackle. ( Amateur ball, german division 3.)

Thought id post a video of one of my friends from my team. His names Robert Mager, plays WR . Also D-end, Tight end, OLB. The toughest guy i know. He played high school for a season in San Diego, where he won a state championship.

Welcome to the site Chris. Cool video. His technique seems pretty raw, but he has some talent.

After watching the video, I have some questions for you. How popular is American Football in Europe? How do you guys line up your offensive sets with no hash marks, number marks, and yardage lines on the field? It seems like it would be difficult for the receivers to line up correctly to get proper spacing for their routes.

Hey Steve,
American Football isnt too popular in Europe, but its pretty big in Germany. Germany has a bunch of NFL Europe teams, and about 9 Amateur leagues. The best team in the country, Braunschweig Lions, get about 9000 spectators at home games on average. Good for an amateur team.
Well concerning the lack of hash marks, we do have them usually, theyre pretty small though. The refs spot the ball, so ive never really concerned myself with that.
We usually have yard lines on the field. Only very thin ones though. And through the course of the game they tend to disappear. On the sideline, we have little, say twenty by twenty inch signs, with the numbers on them. But generally we do a lot of things by estimation. And weve got a coach whos very experienced.
In practice we dont have any yard lines etc either, so receivers know how to line up just from experience.

Cool stuff chris371! I hope someday we can get a few good players from there into the NFL. As it is, getting Canadian players, especially white ones, is almost as hard as pulling teeth.

Theres been a few germans on NFL teams, albeit practice squads... guys like constantin ritzmann, christian mohr, also david odenthal was starting center for Toledo.

A guy from my team, gerrit keferstein ( tough and crazy too), our best player, WR and QB now plays for University of Platteville, Wisconsin, Div 3 college i think. Best hands ive ever witnessed. I remember him catching bullet passes with one hand. He just finished his freshman season at Wisconsin. Big fast receiver.Would be nice to see him do well in platteville.
