The Bears signed freaking brandon lloyd. They have signed an old washed up WR in booker and a never was in lloyd and will not give Hass even a legitimate chance it seems. A very frustrating day for all of us.

Well, it's a one-year, minimum deal. So at least if lloyd keep on sucking in camp they'll cut him.

Koutouvides was going to start for the Seahawks
at MLB until Lofa Tatupu came on strong immediately as a rookie and won
the job.  Koutouvides should do well for the Broncos, and Bradley will
too starting for the Eagles.

Now if only the Cowboys would trade Bobby Carpenter. . .

I know Don the raw deal Bobby is getting in Dallas really irks me! This guy is
just too talented to be on the sidelines. He needs to go to a team that runs
a 4-3 alignment.

Eagles agreed to terms with DL/FB Dan Klecko, formerly of the Colts.

The Eagles want Klecko to be a full-time lead blocker in front of Brian Westbrook. He's athletic enough, and is massive for the position at 5'11/275.

The Bengals signed Ben Utecht to an offer sheet. If the Colts don't match, Utecht could be Cincy's starting TE this season. The Bengals haven't had a good white tight end in ages, since Dan Ross maybe?

Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Coach Mike Tomlin, have letfuture HOFer Alan Faneca go and have signed two players in FA:running back Mewelde Moore and linebacker Keyaron Fox. It seems that Tomlin is not only interested in signing as many reject black players as possible, he also wants to get as many of them with ridiculous names, too.

And why the transition tag on Max Starks, whose fat butt lost his startingjob last season? Why even go through the motions with this when the draft is chock fullof quality tackles according toall the draft experts? The Steelers need more room to maneuver under the salary cap, and, also, the rumored interest in signing a reasonably talented tackle, Marvel Smith, to a long-term deal would be a huge mistake as well.

Big Ben got his big payday and deservedly so.Hewants a big receiver to augment their little black guy receiving corps from the past couple of years. I said previously that a guy like MattJones would fit the bill, and/or the drafting of players like Jordy Nelsonand Eric Blythe would possibly make sense as well. But, nah, IdoubtCoach Tomlin will go this route. They`ll look in different directions, so to speak.

Coach Tomlin is a mighty busy man these days; giving a commencement address at his alma mater, WIlliam andMary, and receiving an honorary doctorate degree.

I never got the lovefest for Tomlin. When he was the DC for the Vikings they were dead last or close to it in Pass Defense, and only had a good run Defense ranking because a lot of teams didn't even bother trying to run. There was a game against the Pats where they must have run less then 10 times the whole game and won handily. Pat and Kevin Williams get a lot of credit for stuffing the middle, but they can't generate much pressure on the QB, its like they are totally one dimensional players. The days of seeing guys like Keith Millard and John Randle create havoc from the DT spot are quickly going by the wayside. Now its all about getting big fat slugs who do nothing more then take up space and force teams to run to the outside or utilize a short passing game to move the ball.

With Ben Utecht going to the Bengals that will mean Peyton Manning can start throwing to Dallas Clark on a more regular basis rather than splitting the passes with Utecht. Hopefully Dallas Clark can finally push for a 1000 yard season? He can definatly do it with enough ball, we all know that.

The Bengals are horrible team but I think Utecht will do well. I can see Chad 'pea brain' Johnson screaming at Carson Palmer if he throws to Utecht a lot.

Something elseworking in Clark's favor is the condition of Marvin Harrison. He missed most of last season because of a knee injury and will be 36 in August.

That will also help out the talented Anthony Gonzalez as well at WR. I don't see the Colts resigning Harrison when his contract is up and I think that happens in the 2010 off-season when the Colts will have an option for a seventh year on his contract which I will expect them to decline. Gonzalez will be the third WR this year and IMO could come close to 1000 yards receiving.

Vikings signed LB Dallas Sartz, formerly of the Redskins.

Sartz was the 'Skins' fifth-round pick in 2007, but didn't impress in camp and was out of football. He's likely only being brought in as a practice body.

Redskins.com last season had him moving up in the coaches' eyes for a roster spot until he got hurt. They wanted him to backup Marcus Washington at SLB, IIRC.

Urban is one of the most under-utilized white WRs in the league. Hopefully, the Cards will actually use their investment.

Jerham Urban was re-signed by the cards finally, it's a 2-year deal.

yup.
a rotoworld.com comment:

Cardinals re-signed WR Jerheme Urban and DE/OLB Joe Tafoya to two-year contracts.

Urban, 27, caught 22 passes for 329 yards (15.0 YPC) and two TDs in 2007. He's currently the favorite to be Arizona's third receiver, with Steve Breaston and Ahmad Merritt also in the mix. Tafoya stays around to provide depth.

That would be great if Urban could be the 3rd WR. Boldin and Fitzgerald will attract all the defenses' attention leaving Urban wide open for some easy catches.

And Urban will be the speedster in the Arizona offense. Larry Fitz ran a 4.62 at the NFL combine and a 4.5 on a fast track at Pro Day, so he is certainly not a speedster. Anquan Bolden ran a 4.72 at the NFL combine which is ploddingly slow. I think Urban runs at least a 4.5, so maybe he will be that 3rd WR deep threat for the Cards!

from rotoworld.com:

Jerheme Urban and Ahmad Merritt are reportedly "neck and neck" for the Cardinals' third receiver role.
While the coaching staff might like Merritt, Urban should actually have a big advantage coming off a strong season as a reserve. Merritt didn't even play.</font>
