It appears that the only way to catch this weeks Stanford-San Jose State game is on radio. Is this the 1970's?

Actually, there are quite a few places where a lot of football games aren't broadcast. Of course, the chances are that if you pay enough for a particular package, you can watch an unreal number of games. When I was a teenager in Louisiana in the 90s, all we had was the antenna for our TV, so maybe 7 channels at the most. The radio was the way I could hear a lot of games, including local and some regional college teams, mainly SEC. I never was able to listen to Ole Miss games though, as their stations in Louisiana were nowhere close to me. Only if they were playing LSU or Arkansas could I hear them. It is a little surprising that someone isn't broadcasting that Stanford game though, but its non-conference, so it makes sense on some level.

Last week,the Cal-Eastern Washington game was televised but not this weeks Stan-San Jose St Bay Area rivalry game. Been wanting to see Toby Gerhart. Its becoming increasingly suspicious as to why this is happening in the PC Northern California Bay Area market.

I still get CFL games here in Philadelphia on Comcast SportsNet. They also play some Aussie rules football and rugby league later at night, or during the day. On college game days, SportsNet also carries smaller (and sometimes also local) school games. A nice change of pace to see sometimes.

I understand this because when I got interested in college football it was the 1970s when ABC had exclusive rights to NCAA football. You had one, maybe two, college games on every Saturday and that was it. The bowl games had their own separate TV deals so we loved bowl season.

As a result, I listened to the radio. At night in the early part of the season, I would lay in the bed of my dad's pickup with my radio and tune in the Southwest Conference games from all over.

Now I can get up to 20 telivised games every Saturday. I can follow Lehigh football from the Gulf Coast of Texas if I care to. So the fact that you cannot get Stanford football in the SF Bay Area tells me that football is on the decline there. Edited by: Bronk
