Hey guys.I thought I would start a thread on some of our favorite Rock Bands.I just recently bought the Styx Live in Concert "Return To Paradise" DVD.The songs are timeless.It will make you smile,cry,and everything in between.That is flat out music right there!Some of my other favorite bands are Led Zepplin,Pink Floyd,Van Halen,Motley Crue,Aerosmith and a few others.There are too many to list.If you guys haven't seen this DVD,go and buy it.Watch it with your girl or wife.Believe me that you won't be sorry.

My favorite band is Rammstein. I like classics like Led Zeppelin and Guns & Roses also. There doesn't seem to be that much new stuff lately. Nickelback is pretty good I guess.

I must be a little older then you men-I like the Beach Boys, Dave Clark Five, The Beatles. In my car driving I like to hear Dean Martin, Elvis, Rick Nelson among others.

Hey Gary,do you like Frank Sinatra?He is one of my favorites from back then.I also love the Big Bands Music of the 40's.Life would be so boring without music.There is something for everyone.

Yes I like Frank Sinatra,my sons and I watched one of his movies not long ago "Von Ryan's Express". I like the music of the 1950's and very early 60's.My sister was a big fan of Elvis so I got to hear his songs a lot growing up. Have a great day-white lightning!!

I forgot to mention Cold and NIN. Also, it's funny most of our taste in music is formed in our teenage years and stays there. The new music we like after that is often similar to the music of that era. Of course that is not always the case ,but it does seem to be the tendency.

Thanks for making my night jaxvid.Yes,I love country too.I have too many favorites to list.I have seen Brooks & Dunn,Tim McGraw,Faith Hill,George Straight,and many others.They have something out here in AZ called Country Thunder.It is like a Country Woodstock and it lasts for 5 days.People camp out and watch country music all day and night.If you want to see some beautiful women,you should be there.Ha.ha.Music,Sports,and Women.Want else does a man need.Just a few of lifes necessities.

I've always loved English new wave: Echo & the Bunnymen, The Cure, New Order ...etc. A lot of these groups are still around and pretty popular with younger kids judging from some of the concerts I have recently attended.

Certainly! When I was a teen I listened to mostly distortion filled Grunge but now listen to underground Heavy Metal and the lo-fi production values produce pretty much the same sound.

Speaking of country music, has anybody seen any country music videos lately? I've seen quite a few "multiethnic" videos pop up lately. They're shot in pretty much the same way a music video on MTV would be shot. I wonder how much longer "they" will "allow" us to have country music without changing it to make it more PC. Just look at how they're trying to make Nascar less Southern/ white.

What country music videos have you seen like this? Most of the ones I see are lilly white. They throw in a black here and there in the background but never as a main chararcter or god forbid a love interest. A lot of country is about rural life and small towns, or old fashioned values minus any non-whites.

But I don't doubt that you are right about all that changing. The same people make these videos as make the MTV ones. Sooner or later they will impose their values on them too.

jaxvid: I've noticed the same thing, at least a few blacks featured prominently in the shots of nearly every country music video.

And have you seen that "***** Tonk Ba-donka Donk" or some such video by Trace Atkins? Plainly an attempt to make what amounts to a Country hip-hop video.

These country/rap duets are really pathetic. An orchestra in a rock and roll song is one thing, but come on. My favorite band is CCR, even though I don't agree with John Fogerty's politics. My favorite song is Runaway, by Del Shannon. I like the Beach Boys, Cream, Led Zeppelin, The Yardbirds, Cat Stevens, early Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Who, The Allman Brothers Band, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and of course Elvis, plus several others. I don't listen to new music much, unless it is Southern/Patriot or Christian music.

he seems to be a pretty nice guy, but frankly his raps are not that good.

The video I saw most recently, I think it was a Hispanic singer with glasses, I assume he was blind. It was the most obvious by far.

Hey Reb, Cat Stevens had some good songs didn't he? Of course he was a hippie (and now a Muslim, what a transformation!) but if you can look past that his music was really enjoyable. Some really nice melodies.

Yeah JD, I think Cat Stevens is one of the most underappreciated musicians from the 70s. His songs are soundtracks of life, in one way or another. I could say the same about Jim Croce. Anyway, I also like the simple haunting sounds of acoustic dominated music. Some early Beatles had this quality, as did Mississippi John Hurt.
