BATON ROUGE - Police arrested one man and issued two misdemeanor summons after they said a family was attacked at a Baton Rouge gas station this weekend and told they were in the "wrong neighborhood."
Cpl. Tommy Stubbs said Baton Rouge Police arrested Donald Dickerson on suspicion of second-degree battery and issued summons to Devin Bessey, 24, and Ashley Simmons, 22, for simple battery.
Stubbs said Sunday evening the family stopped for gas at a station in the 1300 block of Scenic Avenue. The man went into the store, where police said Dickerson confronted him and said he was in the wrong neighborhood and wasn't getting out.
Stubbs said the two argued and Dickerson attacked the man, knocking him unconscious. He said the man's wife tried to help and was knocked out by another Bessey, and when the couple's 14-year-old daughter also tried to help she was punched by Simmons.
The attackers left the store according to police, but witnesses followed them and told police where to find them.
Stubbs said the male victim had broken bones in his face, his wife had minor injuries and the teen wasn't hurt
