Yes the Caste Media is coming up with new excuses for Black athletes. After the ridiculous claims that all the good black heavyweights are in the nba or nfl now there isanother gem from espn columnist Bill Simmons.

here's the passage in question

Q: You know that friend everyone has in college who gets embarrassingly drunk every time you go out, then declares he'll never do it again ... and then does? USA Basketball is that drunk friend.
--Josh, Baton Rouge, La.

SG: Sorry, I'm not getting wound up about FIBA anymore. The rules are too different from the NBA's. It's like sending USA baseball players to a tournament with two-foot-high mounds, neck-to-ankles strike zones and outfield walls 500 feet from home plate. You can't expect a team of randomly assembled All-Stars to come together in three weeks and succeed in a format in which they're the only ones unfamiliar with the rules. It's stupid. Any kind of basketball that makes Jose Calderon more valuable than LeBron James or Dwyane Wade is, by any calculation, idiotic. We should send the AND1 All-Stars to the 2008 Olympics in protest.

A truly ridiculous statement. Consider the differences

There's no defensive 3 in the key there. Yes, it makes it harder for slashers, but it should also make interior defense for the USA easier, with their hypeddominant rebounders to shut teams down inside.

You can touch the ball on the rim. That's to USA's advantage, they're supposedlymore athletic.

The key is a different shape though.

What else am I missing for rules?

No black worshippers like Simmons just wont give white players credit. Its beyond his comprehension that spain or greece just might be better teams with great players.

I suppose i shouldnt be surprised this is coming from a guy who wrote last year that Steve Nash is MVP because of he is white. This year he was campaigning for Kobe while continualy insulting Nash with particular reference to his hair style which Simmons seems to find hilarious.

Spot on irokez. Excuse makers for US basketball make it seem as if FIBA basketball is a different sport entirely. How odd then that so many many South American and European players are able to adjust to the NBA game. Edited by: surfsider

Good point. White international NBA stars seemed to adjust quite well to the FIBA rules. Can you believe our black NBA stars are blaming the refs for their loses? What a shock!

I hope he wasn't being serious. It's hard to tell with his nonesensical responses at times. What made the 92' team able to beat the world soundly? I think the rules were the same then?

When Dwyane Wade was asked during an impromtu interview during an NFL game what happened to the USA basketball team, he humbly answered "We lost".

He didn't hide nor make any excuses.

The guy that asked the question was that guy from ESPN's PTI.

you forgot the closer 3-point line, which should make it easier for our super afaleets to hit one. no? somehow they still can't manage to hit a jump shot.

maybe FIBA should move the free-throw line in as well, so they could eventually hit one of those. yet, it remains an untenable 15 feet from the basket! racists!

yeah the rules are only impeding da afaleets dat be playin' yo. the crackas be playin' jes fine 'cuz it be racial, dawg!

He has to over-state the differences because he is so utterly embarrassed that his brothas keep losing in their sport.

LOL! Protest what exactly? That the American players don't know the rules? That's their own fault. Nobody forces the NBA to use different rules.

Black basketball players are supposedly the greatest athletes in the world, and they can't beat a white team with zero NBA players because the "rules are too different?" That's hilarious.
