With the success of several young white Europeans in the NBA recently, I thought about this questions. I recently was researching one of the latest young talents, Domantas Sabonis. His father, Arvydas is Lithuanian, but his son, Domantas was born in Portland, OR. Is Domantas considered a White American Player? So, could this possibly create an avenue for future White American NBA players? I realize we're talking years down the road, and a lot of things have to play out, but I think it's an interesting topic.
Here are just a few talented young Europeans in the NBA.
Domantas Sabonis, IND. 21 year old. AVG. 12/8, generally gets a double, double when he starts!
Lauri Markkanen, CHI. 20 year old, Possibly the NBA ROY, 20 years old. AVG. 15.2/7.6
Kristaps Porzingis, NYK . 22 year old. The most talented of them all, right now, AVG. 23/7 and leading the NBA in blocks per game at 2.3!
Nikola Jokic, DEN. 22 year old. Averaging a double/double at 15/10 and 5 assists per game. Gets a triple double on occasion.
Jusuf Nurkic, POR. 23 year old AVG. 15/8
I probably missed some, so feel free to add. I listed those that came to my mind first.
BTW, some NBA mock drafts have 18 year old Slovenian, Luka Doncic as high as the number 2 pick. There are several others in the first two rounds that should go this year.
Maybe it's just a dream. I don't know, but thought it would be an interesting discussion. Thoughts?
