I love Russia too but I'm picking a Germany-Spain final. Both solid teams from a CF perspective.

Germany wins it all. They are a machine. Turkey's magical run ends, Spain always let you eventually down and Russia is too young(maybe). Arshavin is a treat to watch and so is Podolski.

The Spanish sports fans are amonst the most nationalistic and passionate as any in the world.Englands starting Black players were subjected to some relentless racial abuse while playing the Spanish their a couple of years ago aswell as other similar incidents in European competition games between English and Spanish clubs. So i wonder how some of them same elements react to Senna their starting Black player.I dont think he faces much hostility most probably because he's a Brazilian born player who acquired a Spanish passport and not the Western African and Carribean types who dominate the English,French and Dutch team of previous years.

Germany beat the amazing Turks today 3-2. Germanys goals were scored by Schweinsteiger, Klose and Lahm. Turkey tied it at 2-2 in the 86th minute with just one more amazing late in the game heroics by that very resilient team. But Lahm who had just got abused on that tying goal scored the Game winner in the 90th minute. Turkey had a free kick about 20 meters away from the goal in the end but couldn't do anything with it. Everybody in Turkey should be giving them a heroes welcome back home. They were without nine players today due to injury and suspensions and put the scare into the Germans today. But I am glad Germany held on and hope they play and beat the Russians in the finals. Russia and Spain play tommorrow.

Germany-Russia would be an all-white final and another nail in the coffin of the Caste System in soccer.

All-white Italy's defeat of mostly-black France in the 2006 World Cup opened many eyes.

The final wil be on Sunday 2.45pm (EST) between Germany and Spain.

I think the tournament was poorly organised in that Spain and Russia played each other twice. Had Croatia held out for another minute they'd have played germany twice. It's one thing for two teams from the same group to meet again in the final but quite another to have them play each other again before the final. To make matters worse Spain played Sweden twice in qualifying then played each other in the group stage. Too many matches between the same teams is the kind of thing that can destroy the unique allure of international football.

Anyway, the Spanish have had a better tournament than the Germans but based on their respective histories I find it hard to ever bet against the Germans and for the Spanish.

There is only one black on the Spanish team and I believe there's one (Ondonkor) on the German bench but he doesn't normally get on.Edited by: Matra1

Go Germany. Russia had a good run but Spain is just too technically skilled and talented for them and Spain is way overdue for a major title anyway. That being said I still predict Germany to win 3-2 this Sunday. They always seem to find a way to win the biggest matches on the biggest world stage. Spain always seems to wilt under the pressure, lets see if that changes.

I agree--I think Germany will win. Turkey put a scare into them...so they'll be focused and determined.

I would not be terribly disappointed though if Spain won...as long as no black scores a goal (or provides a markedly excellent assist)...otherwise the attention of the media on him will be ridiculous.

So far so good...looking forward to the match.

It will be a good day for watching soccer because preceding that game on ABC will be I think the LA Galaxy with Leading MLS scorer Landon Donovan and David Beckham and DC United and then comes the main event, Germany vs.Spain. So my afternoon is definitely mapped out this Sunday. Go Germany.

Good to see football the way it's supposed to played; majority white (one black on Spain's team). This is a good final match. It's been a surprising tournament so far in my mind, but the final is precisely what I thought it would be. I love soccer/football, but don't get to see much of the European teams (which are my favorites. My mom was born in Scotland and I lived there for a while) on U.S. TV. I'm glad this final is televised.

Torres had a great game. Congrats to Spain.

The Germans roughed up the little niglet that played for Spain a few times. Those incidents were almost as good as fun to watch as a goal.

Congratulations to Spain, they played like they really wanted it. It really was a good matchup, not a great one though. Germany did not play like they should or could. Of course Ballack was a little shaken up, but it still would have been nice to see both teams on top of their games. Still, congrats to Spain.

Spanish success in basketball and soccer makes me notice how the US is entering the twilight zone with respect to race.

Today in America, actual hispanics are considered just plain white guys, whereas only mestizos and mulattos are "hispanic". It makes no sense at all, and would be like calling black americans "anglos".

There is a twist on that if the obvious Caucasian Hispanic is a potential pioneer he or she will never be white. Ie Tony Gonzalez. As for the game Spain deserved to win.Germany played like a middling country who couldn't pass or create a scoring chance to save their life.Edited by: white is right

Despite the german loss in the finals, I enjoyed watching the entire tournament. I truly understand now why it's the world's most popular game and enjoyed watching each nations fans getting so revved up and patriotic about their teams. In a world that's pushing the "no borders" agenda and globalism it was refreshing to watch such partisan fervor for the teams involved in the tournament.

We do. It's still mostly white and the best players are white. Landon Donovan,Steve Cherundolo,Clint Dempsey, Eddie Lewis and Michael Bradley are the ones to watch. I also like Heath Pierce, Frankie Hejduk and hopefully soon addition to the team Kenny Cooper from FC Dallas. The goalkeepers are white as well. The womens team is 90% white and a favorite in the Olympics.
