Roma's Argentine-Italian oriundo Enrique (or Enrico...) Guaita was certainly a "blood and soil" man - he soiled his pants after learning that he might have to spill some blood. Accompanied by his wife and two of the club's other Argentine-Italian players, he lit out of Italy in 1936 the day after receiving his draft notice for the Second Italo-Abbysinian War... :bolt::icon_wink:

Good one... This reminds me of Nestor Combin, Argentinian with a French passport (played for France). During the infamous 1969 Intercontinental Cup final between the Argentinian team Estudiantes and AC Milan (one of the dirtiest matches on record - http://backpagefootball.com/la-bombonera-massacre-1969/54236/ ) he got his nose broken by the Estudiantes players and was being taken out of the pitch on a stretcher in a pool of blood. As if that was not enough, he was arrested by the Argentinian police on the sidelines for draft dodging / desertion because he did not complete his military service in Argentina years ago. In this case, his old country came back to haunt him.
The point I wanted to make is that you should play for the country you feel allegiance to, even if it's not your the country of residence. The "oriundi" above did not feel enough allegiance to Italy to go to war for them in some God forsaken piece of Africa, but I presume many "real" Italians would have done the same thing given the opportunity.

I'd like to hear this thread's opinion on William Yarbrough, the 26 yr old [COLOR=#009900 !important]keeper who was recently called up to the USA team for his first cap. Yarbrough was born in Mexico to Christian missionaries from Texas. The third of four siblings, William chose to stay in Mexico while his brothers and sister eventually emigrated back to the states.[/COLOR]

Yarbrough has spent virtually his whole life in Mexico, including his entire academy and pro career. Spanish is his first language; his friends, club teammates, and dating interests are mostly mestizos. Despite being one of the youngest starters in Liga MX for Club León this season, the [COLOR=#009900 !important]Mexican coach declared publicly that Yarbrough was not amongst the top six [COLOR=#009900 !important]keepers in consideration for Confederations Cup / Gold Cup duties next year. Perhaps he was facing a bit of racism, heh. At some point many years ago, he expressed desire to [COLOR=#009900 !important]play for[/COLOR]Mexico.[/COLOR][/COLOR]

On the other side of the coin, his parents' surnames are Yarbrough and Story, surely both of mostly Anglo-Saxon stock. His phenotype belies pure indo-European ancestry. He speaks fine English apparently and can rationalize his ties to the USA in politician-speak. Yarbrough 'belongs' with a white stock country, despite the contrary upbringing. In terms of my own affiliation as a fifth-generation "generic" white, he's a much better fit than "true American" goalie Bilal Abdul Hamid, a Muslim born of refugee parents from Sierra Leone.

An unsmiling, self-interested 'thumbs-up' vote from me for Yarbrough onto team Melting Pot. Funny that Mexicans seem to say "good riddance," whereas his counterpart Hamid would be "traitorous" to American idiot fans if he left for his yet-undiscovered motherland.

This is a borderline case. Culturally he seems to be a bit of a race traitor, his initial allegiance to Mexico (where he couldn't / wasn't allowed to make an impact) complicates things further. On the other side, is he's no worse that the millions of those blue-eyed, blond White race traitors you see every day walking on the street with baseball caps turned backwards, listening to rap, or even with dreadlocks? Most of these people are victims of propaganda and will have to be re-educated and de-programmed eventually, not thrown away. Blood is thicker than water and deep inside the guy is an Anglo-Saxon, a proverbial prodigal son. I vote to let him in.

Sorry for taking such an unforgivably long time to reply, mate. I haven't paid too much attention to the forum of late and my puny contribution over the past three months has been confined to a couple of "Off Topic" posts. Consequently, I've only just noticed Your question. Pretty embarrassing on my part... :embarrassed: :icon_redface:

A Poland versus Australia World Cup final is a wildly hypothetical scenario if ever I've seen one. :icon_wink: Just imagine the winnings one could rake in by successfully picking such a long-odds pairing as finalists. Anyway, here's my answer: regardless of whether the match is a World Cup final, a group game, a second round game, a quarterfinal, a semifinal, or a meaningless friendly played on neutral ground... I naturally support Australia.

From a purely racial point of view, supporting Australia is becoming increasingly difficult and has often been infuriatingly "problematic" in the past. For instance, the frying-pan-faced half-Japanese Alan Davidson was an ever-present starter throughout the 1980s, a fact which reflected the then hopelessly amateurish "kick about" state of Australian football. Unbelievably, the garbage heap Davidson genes have now resurfaced like some flush-proof barracuda turd in the ungainly form of his astoundingly inept son Jason, whose schoolboy stuff-ups were fatal factors in the Socceroos' three losses at the last World Cup. Then we have the arrogant half-Samoan Tim Cahill, who inexplicably managed to delude himself - and the gullible Australian media - into actually believing he was some kind of international megastar because he played for (ooohhh!) Everton. Funnily enough, the said media forgot about his attempts to gain "eligibility" for the Republic of Ireland. Cahill has been one of my most hated non-Negro players for over a decade.

The A League clubs and the FFA are cynically pushing non-Whites (particularly Muslims and mongrel freaks of every imaginable stripe) into Australian soccer at a frightening rate. In addition to Davidson and Cahill, the Socceroos' starting lineup in this year's AFC Asian Cup final win against South Korea also included the half-Indonesian Massimo Luongo while Turk Aziz Behich was an unused substitute. Such trash has absolutely nothing in common with me. These are Australians? My arse...

Sorry for going OT here but I was observing the faces of the Japanese women's team the other night and was struck by how much uglier they were than other east Asians. I'd say frying pan-faced is a good description. The Japs are probably the most accomplished of the Asian races and the ones most likely to appreciate and get along with Europeans (though I'm only guessing here) but physically the Koreans and other east Asians seem to be luckier in the looks department.

To be fair, most female Asian footballers look like geezers (particularly with their penchant for men's haircuts...) and it's quite safe to say that they don't really reflect the appearance of the average Asian woman. The same applies to many White female soccer players, who likewise sport disconcertingly mannish mugs and coiffures.

That being said, plenty of Asian women do look like blokes - especially if they sport short hair. I've encountered some, er, "plain" specimens who virtually pass as males - skinny bodies flat as a plank with literally no tits or arse to speak of (please pardon the proletarian vulgarity); short back and sides; concave, slit-eyed faces; droning androgynous voices; "unisex" clothing. Seeing real life representatives of such stereotypes is bloody unnerving stuff, I can tell You. It's like stepping into some woefully low budget sci-horror film (but preferably not one directed by or "starring" BoxingSpecialist2...).
