I like Weddle's bashing of the over-rated Cromartie. Weddle is already unquestionable a star in the league. I'd like to see our star quarterbacks have the balls he has and publicly call out more affroletes. It goes a long way in changing people's opinion rather than listening to the constant propaganda on the tube about how such an such affrolete is so great.

Antonio Cromartie Tries To Remember His Kids

Antonio Cromartie is known for having the longest play in NFL history, and now has his eyes on a new NFL record; having eight children by seven different mothers in seven different states. As of now, there is no NFL player that has more children than Cromartie. He returned a missed field goal for 109 yards and a touchdown on November 4th, 2007.


That many kids surely amounts to quite a bit in child support. He spoke about all of his kids in a recent episode of "Hard Knocks"Â￾ which chronicles the Jets training camp, and basically stole the show on the episode. He was a huge star in San Diego with the Chargers, but has recently had some problems covering receivers and decided that he wanted to restart his career in New York. At only 26 years old, he should have quite a bit of football in front of him.

I think I recall Eric and some CB going at it on the sideline before. It was probably Cromartie, who was yelling at him and Eric was screaming back. I don't think this should surprise anyone....and Eric showed the guts to stand up for himself, which is good.

Sabby, unlike Eric, just satthere and took the unfair abuse from Talib on national TV and has since been demoted (both Sabby and Eric were 2nd round picks, Sabby had the better measurables -- size &amp; Speed). </div>

Piscatelli is battling journeyman Sean Jones for the starting job.

Leonhard and Weddle are the only two entrenched White safeties, but it's possible there could be an influx of White starters at the position this season. Tom Zbikowski (starter at least until perpetually injured "superstar" Ed Reed is healthy), Reed Doughty, Steve Gregory, Craig Steltz, Eric Smith, Sean Considine, Craig Dahl, and Jon McGraw are all starters or could be in '10. Matt Giordano is a longshot in Atlanta. There certainly are enough capable White safeties who have been relegatedas backups and tothe fringes of the league to transform the position demographically overnight, not that it's going to happen of course except in the most incremental manner if at all.Edited by: Don Wassall

I remembered this article from earlier in this thread (last post of the second page), in which Weddle's physique is made fun of by the Chargers' black DBs and the "White" reporter who wrote the article. Guess who the ringleader was?

Eric Weddle is the Great White Irony of the Chargers secondary, not at all what he appears.


If being in the NFL were a contest of aesthetics, it would be Weddle's great misfortune to be a defensive back.


As a rule, defensive backs are chiseled from granite. Their stomachs could be used as washboards. Their muscles have muscles.


Weddle is about as cut as the Pillsbury Doughboy. He is a throw pillow among the rocks.

Back in the 60s, sportswriters would complain about free safety being a "white position." It was said that blacks were slotted at the corner because FS required intelligence. Free safeties being mainly white was attributed to the NFL's "chronic racism," as it supposedly existed around 45 years ago.

It doesn't matter if Sabby or Jones is named the starter because both players are going to get a lot of playing time and will be on the field together in many packages. Lynch and Grim also have a chance at serious playing time as STDs and backup CB. Having 3 White CB's make the Bucs would be sweet and amazing considering how biased their coach and GM are.

I'm glad Eric Weddle spoke his mind. We need more outspoken Whites in the NFL. Hopefully some of the other White Safeties Don mentioned will end up starting this year. I'm especially rooting for Craig Steltz in Chicago.

Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune predicts that the Chargers will sign FS Eric Weddle to a long-term extension this offseason.

Weddle, an impending unrestricted free agent, is averaging 102 tackles a season over the last three years and set a career high with 10 pass breakups in 2010. One of the best run support safeties in football, Weddle also improved his coverage this past season. To retain him, GM A.J. Smith will likely have to pony up one of the biggest contracts in history for a safety.

Titans FS Michael Griffin has been added to the AFC's Pro Bowl roster, replacing Ed Reed (undisclosed).

Griffin started the 2010 season piping hot with four picks and six forced turnovers all-told in the first seven games, but his performance fell off dramatically down the stretch. Chargers FS Eric Weddle was more deserving.

Weddle's numbers are significantly better than Reed's and Polamalu's. It's true that he doesn't have as many picks as both of these guys but his tackle numbers are better. He should be playing corner in the NFL but if that happened we would have to hear constant comparisons to Jason Sehorn from the media and DWF's.

Actually the Texans would be great, their secondary was horrible, they have stars like Watt and Reed to go along with Cushing, Williams and Barwin (who i think will be great in the 3-4) then I think his numbers would skyrocket. The reason why he doesn't get as many picks is because he has to stay on his assignment longer, Polamulu and Reed play on teams whose front 7 gets tremendous pressure, which allows them to freelance. If they had to play on the Chargers I think they would look mediocre.

Barwin was a "tweener" out of college, supposedly not big enough to start at 4-3 end and I guess they didn't think he fit as an 4-3 olb, I think he will do great as a 3-4 rush end, he had 11 sacks his last college season. Put Weddle on that team, his tackle numbers may go down with all of the tackle machines they have but the highlight plays will come more often.

You're right, snow, come to think about it that would be a great fit. It just doesn't look likely, seeing as the Texans drafted2 white defensive players. I do believe there is some type of quota system that prevents teams from becoming too white.

The richest contract ever for a safety in the league according to sources with 19 mil dollars of the contract guranteed. Weddle will be the leader of their secondary making sure plays don't become touchdowns. A very good day for Mr. weddle who has shown himself to be a very good NFL player, and now he will be paid like one as well. I am so happy for eric this shows no matter how stacked the NFL deck is against white players the good ones will eventually get paid. I am glad the Chargers resigned Weddle now if only Hester would get more than the occasional carry. Oh well that maybe too much to ask at this crucial point. Once again Eric you make your race proud by playing smart, tough, and without the flash and bravado usally seen by many NFL players today.
