The fair number of Brett Favre fans might like to know that Brett's nephew, Dylan, is setting Mississippi high school records playing QB for the St. Stanislaus Rockachaws. Sounds like he had a very good game in the state 4A playoff game last night. His size (5-10, 5-11) is not in his favor unless he has some growing left.

Favre leaves St. Stanislaus with a national record and 10 state passing marks.

But
the Rockachaws' 35-16 victory over Lafayette County on Saturday before
an estimated 7,000 at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium meant more
to Favre.

The Sun Herald's reigning offensive player of the year accounted for a national-record 81 total touchdowns in a season.

"I can care less about records,"Â￾ Favre said. "My senior year was all about bringing a state title back to St. Stanislaus."Â￾

Favre also hoped to convince Division I recruiters that he could play quarterback on the highest level.

Southern Miss, a place where his uncle starred before becoming a future Pro Football Hall of Famer, offered over the weekend.

"I'm going to see how it plays out,"Â￾ Favre said. "I'll probably wait until right at the end to decide."Â￾

Florida
International will also get a visit by the state's most prolific passer
sometime next month, with Mississippi State also showing interest.

The 5-foot-11 Favre believed his point was made all season long for the Rockachaws (14-1).

"I'm
not just a quarterback, I am a football player,"Â￾ Favre said. "I know I
can play. All I want is a chance to keep playing. "I play with a lot of
passion and a lot of heart and if college coaches can't see that then
maybe college ball isn't meant for me.

"I know I can play."Â￾

coach Forrest Williams believes Favre showed that he deserved to play
quarterback in this weekend's Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Game at
Mobile's Ladd-Peebles Stadium. Lafayette coach Anthony Hart, who's
coaching in the game, reportedly offered Favre a spot on the roster as
an athlete, not aquarterback.

"If you look at the body of work he
has done over the course of the year and the course of his career,''
Williams said. " There are some great quarterbacks, but he's the best
quarterback in the state of Mississippi. He should've been in the game."Â￾

Favre
moved up the national career passing records for single-season: second
all-time in average total yards for a (453) and total yards (6,797
yards). He's also fourth all-time in passing yards (5,539 yards), 10th
with touchdown passes (63).

On the career marks, Favre finished
third with total touchdowns (170), fifth in total yards (14,205 yards)
and passing yards (13,509 yards), eight with total touchdown passes
(144) . He's also 10th in completions (751) and attempts (1,237).

I don't know if this is considered something of an upset since his dad and uncle Brett played at Southern Miss, but Dylan has committed to Miss St. Coach Mullen's reputation for helping mold Tim Tebow probably was a major lure for the young man.

Going for gold: Dylan Favre set to play for Team USA

Former St. Stanislaus quarterback Dylan Favre's pursuit of a gold medal for Team USA begins Thursday.

Favre and the rest of his American teammates take the field in Canton, Ohio, Thursday on the first day of competition in the International Federation of American Football's World Championship.

The U.S. plays Mexico at 6 p.m. at Tom Benson Stadium, which is located on the campus of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. With a cable subscription to ESPN, the game can be watched online at ESPN3.com.

Favre started his college career at Mississippi State, transferred to Pearl River Community College and played his final two seasons (2013 and 2014) at Tennessee-Martin. He was the 2009 Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year at St. Stanislaus after leading the Rockachaws to the Class 4A state title.

He will suit up in the red white and blue Thursday.

"Winning a gold medal for my country would be incredible," Favre said.

The 2015 IFAF World Championship is a tournament that features teams from seven nations around the world. The other five countries represented are Australia, South Korea, France, Brazil and Japan.

The U.S. has participated in the last two IFAF World Championships and won both.

All of the teams will play four games in the short span of 10 days.

If the U.S. manages to keep winning, all of its games will be played at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Wednesday and the title game on July 18.

Favre took part in a camp with the U.S. squad in Akron, Ohio, from June 28-July 7 in preparation this week's tournament.

Favre will likely share snaps with two other quarterbacks, Kevin Burke of Division III power Mount Union (Ohio) and Army's Trent Steelman, who also may see time at receiver.

Burke, who threw for over 12,000 yards in his college career, and Favre are the two better passing quarterbacks on the roster. Favre ranked second in the nation in passing accuracy (71 percent) as a junior at UT-Martin, working in a system that used multiple quarterbacks.

Former Colorado and Boise State coach Dan Hawkins is the head coach of Team USA.

Much like Team USA has in the past in the tournament, Hawkins will likely rotate plenty of players throughout the tournament thanks to the short rest between games.

Favre's quarterbacks coach is the head coach's son, former Colorado quarterback Cody Hawkins. The offensive coordinator is Paul Wulff, who holds the same position at South Florida.

Favre is joined on Team USA by a former MSU teammate, running back Nick Griffin, who talked Favre into seeking out a spot on the team.

The two will see time in the backfield this week for the first time since the 2011 season at Mississippi State.

Favre was set to join an arena football team in the spring before he got a call informing him that a spot had opened up on the Team USA roster.

Favre put the arena football offer on the backburner and decided to take what he describes as "a once in a lifetime opportunity" to join Team USA.

Favre is the nephew of former Southern Miss and NFL legend Brett Favre, a native of Kiln.

He threw for a then-Mississippi record 5,589 yards in 2009.

Dylan Favre seems to be fitting in nicely in Cedar Rapids.

The former St. Stanislaus quarterback was recently named the Indoor Football League's Offensive Player of the Week for Week 6.

Favre, who quarterbacked at Mississippi State, Pearl River Community College and UT-Martin, led his Cedar Rapids Titans to a 60-57 upset over the Sioux Falls Storm. The victory snapped the Storm's 22-game winning streak.

Favre threw for seven touchdowns in the game, including the go-ahead score on a 6-yard scramble where he had to go up and over a defender to cross the goal line.

In the game, Favre completed 21 of 26 passes for 190 yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed 12 times for 35 yards and three scores.

Favre has had plenty of success in his first professional season, leading the Titans to a 3-2 mark.

The high-scoring IFL -- with results like 78-71 and 54-45 -- fits Favre's gun-slinger approach to the game.

Heading into Saturday's game against the Green Bay Blizzard, Favre has completed 68.9 percent of his passes for 708 yards and 15 touchdowns against eight interceptions. He has also rushed for 89 yards and six scores.

Favre's 141.6 yards per game rank seventh in the league. He also ranks among the league's leaders in completion percentage (second), passing yards (third), passing touchdowns (third), interceptions (first) and rushing touchdowns (second).

College football fans may recognize a few of Favre's former teammates, including former Southern Miss receiver Ryan Balentine, TCU running back Waymon James, Louisiana Tech defensive lineman Devon McKinney and Georgia offensive lineman A.J. Harmon.
