In my opinion,Stamer has the raw speed and explosiveness
necessary to win the NCAA Championship 100 Meters Finals.
I think that it is his technique that could use some
work. You wouldn't want to change it too much.A good coach
like Phaff/Florida could help him to be a little more
smooth from his drive phase on.Too many sprinters seem
to tighten up over the last 30-40 meters.People don't
realize how hard it is to have speed endurance.Almost
anyone can run all out for 40 meters. With training, you
can run all out for 60 meters but no one in the world
can go all out for a 100 meters. It is not possible! The
quickest sprinters are the ones who accelerate up to
there top speed and relax enough in the last third of
the race to carry that speed through to the line.If you
try to push too much, you waste energy and actually end
up fighting yourself.Macrozonaris would have went sub
10 in Mexico in 2003 but he tightened up over the last
20 - 30 meters. He even admitted that he was so suprised
to be in the lead in lane 1 that he tried too hard.If
he would have only relaxed a little more,we would have
seen his first sub 10!!Stamer can and will go sub 10
with more training, both physical & mental. He has to
believe he can do it and stay smooth and controlled.
I wish him the best of luck as I am one of his biggest
fans.

10.35 is a decent time. It was really windy and only got into the mid 50's. If Stamer can become more relaxed in the second half of the race I think he could be very good.

I totally agree surfside.Dusty like so many other
sprinters just seems to tighten up at the worst times.
I agree though that it's a solid time for April. He needs
to get into the 10.10 range though if he wants to make
the NCAA Finals in the 100.Go get em Stamer!

Stamer and his Nebraska 4 x 100 team came in 2nd place
in the Kansas Relays. The only team to beat them was a
pro team led by Maurice Greene. They put on quite a show
and also won the 4 x 400 relay.Nate Probasco also came
in 2nd place in the 200 with a career best time of 20.71!
He also was only beat by a professional sprinter. The
team is now headed to the Drake Relays which should be
incredible.I want to see Stamer & Probasco continue to
improve.Dusty needs to just keep training hard because
he is running good for this early.Watch for some really
good times next weekend.Go Nebraska!

Arturs Abolins hasn't been mentioned yet as far as
Nebraska goes.He is a very talented sprinter.Watching
Nebraska in the 4 x 100 relay is a pleasant suprise.
They have 3 white guys out of the 4 sprinters on the
team. They are extremeley fast and qualified for the
finals in the Penn Relays later today.Dusty Stamer
also qualified for the finals of the 100 meters!

I was trying to find some results for the Penn Relays, WL. From what I
read, looks like Nebraska and Stamer got smoked today.

They won their heat to qualify for the finals.I don't
know if Stamer got hurt or what because the team didn't
show for the finals. Also,Stamer didn't compete in the
100 meter mens final which he qualified for. There must
have been something going on.I will try to find out
more and post some info as soon as I have it.

Nebraska was just edged out for the final spot in the Championship heat,so they ended up running in the relay heat, which they won.Stamer ran in that race, but I don't know why he didn't run in the 100.

Nebraska hosts the final tounament before the Big 12
Championships this weekend.I really hope that Stamer
and Probasco can put up some good times.I will predict
a time of 10.20-10.25 for Stamer.

I don't know what is going on?Stamer didn't run in the
100 again today & either did Probasco. They were both
supposed to compete in the 100 at the Nebraska
Invitational.Probasco did win the 200 in a fine time
of 20.63.They also both ran in the 4 x 100 Relay team
and won it in a time of 39.86!Why would both of them
not run the 100?Especially Stamer when that is his
main event.Probasco is a 200 man but was going to run
a 100 today.Something weird is going on down there.
This is the 2nd 100 in a row that Stamer has missed and
he is healthy.Hopefully he will be ready for the Big 12
Champs coming up next weekend!

Id like to know the wind reading on that Probasco 200 because that would be a PR for him if legal.

I believe it was just over the allowable amount at
2.2 mph.Still an excellent showing for him as he keeps
improving with every race!

Dusty Stamer qualified for the Big 12 100 Meter Finals
tommorow with a time of 10.35.It's good to see him
finally race again after a 3 week hiatus.Nate Probasco
qualified for the 200 finals with the fastest time of
the day in a 20.65.I would love to see Nate run the
100 because with his strength,I believe he would be
very dangerous. His speed endurance is incredible for
a man his size.Go Huskers!

A correction on what I posted above.I'm sorry guys but
that was wrong.Stamer did qualify today with the
fastest time of anyone. He ran a 10.14 in the 100 but
the he had a 5 mph wind to help him so don't put too
much into the time.Regarless, since he was by far the
fastest of all the qualifiers,he will have the best lane
for the 100 Meter Finals for the Big 12 Outdoor Champs!
He really needs a great time in the biggest race of
the season tommorow. He has a chance to be crowned the
fastest man outdoors in his conference. That would give
him so much confidence going into the NCAA Nat'l Champs
in another week.Good luck to Dusty!

Ya i tried to post that Stamer ran a 10.14 after i read your first post
white lighting but for some reaon it didn't post. Don't look for Stamer
to do anything but be the Big 12 Champ in the 100m he is the most
competitive person i know.

I sure hope so underated. They are talking about this
same thing over at the track&fieldnews.com discussion
board. There is a thread on white sprinters and Stamer
has been brought up many times. On a side note,Nate
Probasco ran the fastest 200 in the pre-lims at a
20.53.The wind was too strong to be legal but it was
alwo for everyone else too! Both Stamer & Probasco have
the fastest 100 & 200 of all Saturday!I wish them both
the best of luck tommorow.Go Huskers!

The 10.14 that Stamer ran yesterday was the fastest in Nebraska school
history under any conditionst even though it doesn't count as the
school record its still faster than anyother windaided time ever ran.
Probasco time in the 200 would have been a school record to. Hopefully
the wind will be under the limit today so Dusty and Nate
will have a shot at breaking them in the finals.

Dusty got third place in 10.4 something, Probasco got second in the 200 in 20.9.

very good showings.. considering they made the tactical mistakes of putting out way too much in the prelims and the 4X1.

I agree bigman. You always hear about the track guy playing football but with Stamer it is a football player running track. With better coaching(?) or just more experience he'll be showing better in finals.
