thought i'd start this thread instead of continuing to talk about the Dookies elsewhere.
there has been some talk about a possible all white Duke starting five in '06-'07. five white players on the court at one time happened a few times this season, but if it were to happen next year here's what would need to take place. next year's freshman class, which includes two white McDonald's all-American candidates in Jon Scheyer and Brian Zoubek would have to emerge as Paulus and McRoberts did this season. furthermore, Martynas Pocius, who coach K acknowledges as the quickest and toughest player on the current Duke roster, will have to step up his game.
that would put the 7'2" Zoubek at center, McRoberts at the four, Scheyer and Pocius at the two swing spots, and Paulus at the point.
it's unlikely that this line-up will be starting, at least to begin the season, because of the presence of off guard DeMarcus Nelson, who is a tough and scrappy player who will be a junior. however, it is entirely possible for all five white players to be regularly in the rotation.
as for the continued increasing whiteness of Duke, there was some talk of Kevin Love, who is being pursued by virtually everyone. Love is a 6-foot-10, 255-pound power forward who's rated as a top 3 recruit nationally in the class of 2007, but he hasn't committed to anyone as of right now.
as an additional note, Duke has also received a commitment from one black Mickey D candidate for next season, and is one of two schools remaining for one other as well.
