White friendly teams Duke and Gonzaga play tonight on ESPN. #2 ranked Duke plays Stephen Curry led Davidson and the Zags get their rematch with Tennesee. It should be fun.

Is Gonzaga all that white-friendly anymore? I saw some of the game versus UConn and it seemed they only had 2 whites on the floor.

Thanks for the info, I'll be watching. Scheyer and Singler should prevail over Curry-hyped but fairly white Davidson.

Leading scorer and rebounder Josh Heytvelt is a beast. I hope he leads the Zags over caste Tennessee.

Gonzaga only starts 2 whites: Heyvelt and all around good player Matt Bouldin. Other starters: Austin Daye is young and talented however Jeremy Pargo is overrated and always hyped.Edited by: Freethinker

I could have sworn that I have seen Micah Downs start a few games for the Zags this season. Regardless, thats three prominent whites that play for the Zags, all with varying degrees of NBA potential. Plus some huge white 7-footer(I forget his name) comes into the game at times for the Zags.

guys who cares about gonzaga they are not good they are very overrated. Guys they are not going to put Scheyer or Singler on Curry because That means their offensive play will decrease because they will be to tired chasing around Curry all night, and they cant have that from Singler or Scheyer because they are two key parts of Dukes Offense

Redick who will be charged with the task of guarding Curry than? Nolan Smith perhaps or Henderson?

i imagine Smith will be guarding him and when Mcclure is in the game he will guard Curry. But i still just cant Imagine Scheyer, Singler or Henderson guarding him because that will take away that players points for the night.

Many of us care for the Zags because they have a rich history of giving whites playing time and a chance to star on the big stage. Overrated or not that is reason enough to watch and root for them. Downs, Heytvelt and Bouldin are also a good reason to watch and care. Nuff said.Edited by: guest301

guest301,

Your probably right that Downs starts. I was assuming Steven Gray did.

The Zags may have been a bit overrated, losing to Portland St. and Utah should not have happened. They already beat Tennessee this season once, if they can beat them again that will help their resume.

Gonzaga has started the same lineup in every game this season, featuring three white players, all of which have NBA-type talent: Josh Heytvelt, Micah Downs, and Matt Bouldin.

Austin Daye (white mother/black father) also starts, along with black point guard Jeremy Pargo.

it is true that Gonzaga is less white friendly than in years past, with only the three aforementioned white players getting significant minutes. guest301 mentioned a tall white player getting minutes. his name is Will Foster (7-5), but he's not good, and he's only getting minutes becuase of injuries to the roster. last year, Gonzaga didn't sign a single white kid (they signed 3 mulattoes). this year, two of the three signees were white, but next year it appears they will be going all-dark again. i hope that's not the case...

also, Gonzaga has only played 2 home games since November 18. while it's true they should have beaten Portland State and Utah, i think their recent losses are more to do with the rigors of their brutal non-conference schedule and all the travel than with them being overrated. they owned UConn for 38 minutes before getting in foul trouble and wearing out in overtime. they completely dominated Washington State. they smacked around OK State, Maryland, and Tennessee (the first time around this year). they are a VERY good team.

whether or not they beat Tennessee again, i expect them to right the ship and dominate WCC play again this season. they have the talent to make a deep run in the Tourney, and i hope they do so.

**************************

Davidson often has 4 whites on the court at a time. although Curry is the only player who gets ESPN-notice, Davidson is a solid team with 4 (or 5) white kids who can play. it should be a good game.

**************************

i suspect redick0829 is correct in that Nolan Smith will start out on Curry, but i expect Scheyer will guard him quite a bit, as well. Scheyer is a heck of an all-around player, and i think he'd love the challenge of trying to slow down the nation's leading scorer.

i'm going to eat a little crow.

the Duke-Davidson game was very ugly the first half, though it got mildly interesting late. Scheyer and Singler played very well, though they were sloppy with the ball in the first half. Duke threw a lot of bodies at Curry, pretty much switching on every screen, and i saw Singler guarding him several times on the perimeter and doing a fine job. that big kid can really move his feet!

************************

i will give credit where it's due. Will Foster, the 7-5 junior from Gonzaga really played very well tonight. i thought he gave the Zags a HUGE spark in the second half, both blocking/altering shots and rebounding. the big guy even dove on the floor and saved a loose ball! awesome! maybe he heard me talking about him, and decided to prove me wrong.

keep up the good work, big guy!

despite an absolutely HORRID first half, Gonzaga rallied behind Matt Bouldin in the second half and emerged with a hard-fought overtime win. Bouldin had 26, playing an excellent all-around game.

Heytvelt [i[]really[/i] needs to get more touches. he scored 15 tonight on just 7 shot attempts. he should have a MINIMUM of 10-12 shot attempts per game. he also had a team-high 12 rebounds.

i was disappointed in Downs' performance. he didn't start for the first time all season, and only played 15 minutes or so... i wonder if he was ill.

i also thought Daye played well in the second half and overtime after being a big cry baby in the first half.

Since you set the example JimmyC of eating a little crow, I will do the same as well. After watching last nights Duke/Davidson game, Singler is much more of a emotional leader than I thought and my assertion that Scheyer is the leader despite the statistical edge in numbers by Singler is found suspect. There is not a thing on the basketball court that Singler is not skilled enough to do, He is a smaller Dirk in waiting with maybe a little more hops and pace to his game. Duke has two captains on the floor now, Scheyer and Singler. I will honestly be suprised if Duke doesn't make it to the final four this year.

Did you guys happen to see the missed goal tending call that sent the Gonzaga game to overtime??? It was ridiculous! The Tenn player had his hand through the hoop! Bouldin was steamed!

Note* i cannot stand the way Tennessee plays defense they play like a bunch of grabby monkeys, jump at every pump fake and constantly hack!

It's good Tennessee lost anyway and their precious 2nd largest home winning streak. Two losses to the Zags this year.

No shock that Downs isn't starting now.Since the U-conn game where Steven Gray really played well Micah seemed to be feeling the pressure and with that hog not too bright Pargo out there Downs is not getting the ball too much.Mark Few these days wants affletes and that is exactly who he is recruiting so guys this may be the last year of good white contribution for the Zags.

Stop giving all the love to Gonzaga when the # 2 team in the Country is mostly white. When Gonzaga is their you can talk about them but right now Duke deserves a mention on this board

Duke is getting plenty of mention at Caste Football, fool. Maybe when you have more than 12 posts, you might can dictate to others what you feel we should post. It's obvious why you are here, you are starting to smell like Nevada to me. But you are maybe not him since he usually was a intelligent poster in between the times he tried to piss everybody off. No intelligence coming from you so far, I predict your stay here will be short.

Their is not time in my life for dealing with c**ts like you. You are obviously a white trash fan from a place like Indiana where all you do is root for your Hoosiers to have a winning season. Since they are sucking up this year, you want to take out your anger on a fan of one of the dynasty's in college b-ball duke. Good Luck with your Hoosiers best of Luck to Sampson LMAO.

Who are you? What? None of that made any sense. I have over 2600 posts here and probably no more than two has been about Hoosier basketball, not a fan.
Nobody here is a bigger fan of Duke basketball than me. Other than that white kid Pritchard, I couldn't tell you a thing about Hoosier basketball this year. You are just another scatterbrained newbie troll poster in my estimation and you are truly a waste of time.

This guy is a troll people, he just had a post saying that Tyler Hansbrough has NO future in the NBA. He said he's a one dimensional bricklayer. He's the epitome of the drunk white fan. He tries to hide his little diggs at white players halfway through his posts but I am not fooled.

You obviously have no life if you make over 2500 posts in 3 years. Seriously as a Duke fan do you expect me to root for him. When i have seen Carolina play this is the impression i get Hansbrough throws up 20 shots a game and makes 6 of them. Last year i thought he really had a lot of talent but i can see that every stat of his dropped except for points per game. So I don't see how in the NBA against these great Power Forwards he is gonna be able to throw up 20 shots a game and make any more then 5 of them. If he would learn to pass the ball he would be much better but right now he is one dementional

Boy are you a scattershot troll or what. You are saying I have no life because I have over 2500 posts in three years, that could apply to more than a few people on this site but of course you are only talking about me. The reason I have so many posts(there are others with far more) is because I get info here about the caste system, I get entertained here and I get a chance to pontificate and share opinions with my likeminded brothers on the condition of the white athlete.
I don't know why I bother but I will answer your question. Yes I know you claim to be a Duke fan but I do expect you to root for Tyler Hansbrough as well because he is white. You don't have to root for him to play well against Duke but certainly root for him in general as most anybody else that regularly contributes to CF would. The last time I checked, Hansbrough is a first rate citizen, classy on and off the court and again he is white. So yes I am fairly certain I can speak for everybody here in saying that yes you should root for Tyler Hansbrough. DUH!Edited by: guest301

OK you will get what you want i will root for him to do good against other ACC teams because that will certainly help Duke. But i wont change my mind on his NBA future. I don't think he will be a good pro. Just like if i found some white kid that plays D-3 b-ball do you expect me to say he will have a good career. I speak what is on my mind and only that.

Ok dude. It's fine for you to have realistic opinions about whatever athlete we are talking about. But you seem to be parroting the line that the people that are responsible for the caste system say about Hansbrough. He's unathletic, slow , one dimensional, etc..yada yada yada. He's clearly one of the top three college basketball players, a scorer, he's a beast in the post and nobody works harder on a basketball court than Tyler Hansbrough. We come to CF to get away from such mainstream drivel. But I will get off your case if you get off mine, post away.

redick, you're way out of line calling Guest301 a c***, white trash, etc. And post counts are relevant only when it comes to newbies like you. Go to the typical board where DWFs post and lots of them rack up 2,600 posts in a month. Those are the people that need a life. 301's posts and just about everyone else's here are well thought out and informative.

If you think Hansbrough isn't NBA material then you must not think the Caste System exists in basketball. Have you had a similar opinion of any black players who were the best in the country while in college? Do you think white American basketball players get a fair deal in college and the pros?

I don't think I can improve on any of that. I am writing these couple of sentences only to improve on my post count.
