Here's hoping that Derek Abney gets to play this year
for the Ravens. He is on a very unfriendly team for
whites but he is just too talented to not play him.He
is the only SEC player to lead the league in both punt
and kickoff return yards in the same season. He set
records running back kicks for touchdowns.Derek is an
amazing athlete. He was a sprinter in high school and
was all state winning the 100 in a time of 10.78!He
has nfl speed.I wish him well this season and I hope
his shoulder injury has recovered 100%.

Abney may be the best kick returner ever in college football. Just about all of the outstanding kick returners the past couple of years in college have been white, though they of course labor in obscurity.

Abney's also a potentially excellent wide receiver, with speed and moves to burn. Unfortunately the Ravens were a dead end for Brandon Stokley. Abney is on the smallish size like Stokley and can be just as good if not better if given a chance.

Abney was a terrific return man for Kentucky. Seems to me he should be a first rate NFL return man as well. We can only hope.Another speedster to keep an eye on is Maryland"s Steve Suter. He will be a senior. Had an off year last year due to injuries etc. but he has 4.3 speed and is a little like Dan Sheldon but sturdier.

Derek Abney was and is a very exciting player. He deserves a shot somewhere. He should be a starting wide receiver in a fair world, but we are talking about the Caste System NFL.

He should get a chance their if healthy. If they cut him,
he should try the Chargers. They cut Welker a year ago
and also got rid of Tim Dwight. They need a kickoff
returner really bad.I want to see Abney running some
kicks back for touchdowns. It would be great to see
him play some receiver and run some reverses too.
