Guillermo Jones tests positive following Lebedev victory

27.07.13

By @Livefight

Panama's Guillermo Jones could see his impressive stoppage of Denis Lebedev [on 17 May 2013] tarnished after it has emerged that the WBA has announced that he failed the sample test, and was found to have been taking Furosemide.

Commonly known as Lasix in the black market gyms around the world, it's a product that aids water depletion ( diuretic ) but also can be used to mask far stronger compounds that an athlete is taking.

At 41-years old and two years away from the sport, the upset over the young Russian lion was heralded as a tremendous comeback for the former WBA Cruiserweight champion. If the reports are confirmed then that will see the result wiped and likely declared a No Contest.

edit:

Lebedev-Jones II is off because Guillermo Jones tested positive once again for an illegal substance.

If Lebedev boxes him he should win easily. Jones has one of those iron chins like Roy Nelson or Oliver McCall and Leb gassed himself out trying to KO the easily hit fighter.

The fight has been called off due to Jones testing positive for steroids. What typical ghetto loser!

Guillermo Jones’ B sample confirms doping

The B Sample of WBA cruiserweight champion in recess Guillermo Jones has confirmed his positive test for doping. As a result, the WBA has suspended Jones for two years. The WBA’s Gilberto Jesus Mendoza confirmed that the B sample, which was opened Tuesday, contained “a high presence of the substance Furosemide.”

Lebedev defeats Kalenga to retain WBA cruiser belt

"WBA cruiserweight champion Denis Lebedev (26-2, 20 KOs) retained his title with a twelve round unanimous decision over interim titleholder Youri Kalenga (21-1, 14 KOs) on Friday night at the Luzhniki Arena in Moscow, Russia."

"The challenger dropped Lebedev in round four, but Lebedev floored Kalenga in round seven and generally did more to win by scores of 115-112, 115-112, 116-111."

Uggh! Missed the fight! I was hoping from your video that Lebedev had a knockout victory.

Great win by beating a tough fighter. Hopefully tomorrow Andy Lee will make it a great weekend of boxing by beating Quillian.

Quillin just came in overweight by a bit. No titles on the line.

In this day and age it's unbelievable that a fighter can show up overweight, especially with things having been tweaked so much that fighters (especially caste system fighters with the resources of said system behind them) can be "secretly" hooked up to an IV and loaded with fluids, electrolytes, nutrients.

Quillin avoided Matt Korobov because he knew he'd lose. Then, after Lee won by KO, he wanted his title back. Now he won't get it. The guy is an all around fool.
