Second year player DE/OLB Hau'oli Kikaha blew a knee the other day. He was designated to become an edge pass rushing feature in the Saints new defensive scheme of things. This is Davis Tull's calling. Hopefully he can take full advantage of the opening.

New Orleans has some real talent on defense in Tull, James Laurinaitis, Mike Mauti and Nathan Stupar, but other than Laurinaitis I have little faith in Sean Payton to be fair to them. The "Snow Patrol" of his early coaching days seems a long time ago now. And Payton's been as bad as any when it comes to screwing White receivers. Hopefully I'm wrong as they have little at linebacker other than these guys and Stephone Anthony.

Hau'oli Kikaha will miss the '16 season with a knee injury, meaning one less competitor for Tull (and Mauti and Stupar). Dannell Ellerbe is currently listed as the starter at WLB but he's only played 7 games the past two seasons because of injury and is mediocre at best when healthy. If he can stay healthy, Tull has a very good chance of getting an opportunity to start at some point in the upcoming season, and if that happens it'll be quite a surprise if he doesn't do very well.

Ellerbe is another example of a below average black player that somehow sticks around the league and becomes a starter. It's a joke.

Definitely eye opening what the Saints have done on defense.. Sean Peyton admits & regrets cutting ties w Rob Ninkovich...Could this be a reason?

Davis Tull has an explosive 1st step...he should produce when given the opportunity...Hopefully he's 100% healthy after sitting out last year...could invision him being a Peyton Hillis-type Running Back if he were on offense

James Laurinaitis is just what the doctor ordered for the Saints Defense

Nate Stupar should be more than just a Special teams weapon...Michael Mauti appears to have another roster spot locked up

The Saints also Signed rookie free agents OLB-Dillon Lee(Alabama) & ILB-Jeff Schoettmer (UNC)

Hybrid Safety Erik Harris from the CFL looks white to me(Tyler Gaffney? etc).....looks promising he should land a spot on the 53... some may want to check pics to come up w consensus

A shame Vinnie Sunseri was so injury prone (2 seasons ending w injury)...he had a nose for the ball...hopefully he will succeed w the Patriots (signed last week)

Almost started a 16' Saints thread...but wanted to keep it here. On offense new TE Coby Fleener made instant chemistry w Drew Brees...he should put up some nice numbers.....maybe rookie free agent WR Jake Lampman (Ferris St.) can land at least on practice squad...has been making nice catches in camp
